problem of stick two T61p and memory upgrade

http://forums.Lenovo.com/LNV/board/message?board.ID=T_Series_Thinkpads&thread.ID=37219

Of sktn77a in the thread above - "the question of the"two-stick"(as I know) is only with the T61p with GPU FX570 but it won't hurt to remove a stick for testing purposes and then Exchange."

I just bought a T61p (6457-7WM) with the FX570 - there is 2 GB of RAM for now (1x2Go I guess, but did not check, can I register this software somewhere to save it opens?), running XP pro. What is the prevalence this "two stick" issue, I searched here but do not find much on it. Where can I get information?

I understand that XP can't see only 3 GB but I read if you install 2x2gb - 4 GB it'll actually work with 3.5 GB (which is better than only 3 GB?). Is this true?

When I buy the RAM is better to simply the order of Lenovo? I am technically savvy but did not RAM before upgrading. I remember that it is good to do the same brand? Don't know what specs on the RAM, I need if you could save me reading that would be great.

Thank you very much

EDIT: Also is there a list anywhere of what makes the lenovo other software pre-installed? Trying to find information on google etc. when selections for the Base software selector was not simple. I ended up installing XP with factory settings deselect all options selection of basic software but not I have a device that is not installed driver and I'm puzzled as to what it could be. There is nothing in the BSS, which suggests that she's involved with the drivers. Thanks again.

msk14,

The question of referenced memory is limited to T61p models, and it's a matter of tolerance, which means that it appears on all systems.   Generally, he is met where the two dimm slots are filled, and the user runs intensive 3D graphics.  Manufacturing variances in memory, individual systems before indroduction of variations in the game and an update or application requirements can causes slightly different symptoms.  Wouldn't this be a concern and hold you back what let it be.

You could certainly run 2 X 2 config and having two same size modules can provide a performance boost.  I would pay just pay attention to the specs on the speed of the memory.  Of course, I will officially recommend Lenovo memory because it is proven and supported by the warranty of the system which facilitates the events of service - without exclusions, or a question about the fault.

However, some source memory OEM customers and I am sure that others can chime in with the opinion on the brand and the source.

Best regards

The laptop says it can do 2 GB. Do I need to Flash the BIOS or y at - it another way to get it to pick it up?

    Thanks Lauri

    Hello lauri

At first, I must say that you are right about upgrade memory. Your laptop can handle with 2 GB of RAM.
Your description is a bit confusing for me. If you have upgraded to 2 GB, you have probably used 2 x 1 GB RAM.
So, I don't understand what you mean with * only reads 512 MB stick. *

Do you use compatible Rams? Can you test the two slots and confirm that they are not defective?

  • HARD drive and memory upgrade on the Satellite P200 - 17 c

    Hello

I own Satellite P200 17 c. My current memory is DDR2 PC2-5300 2 GB. I would like to upgrade to DDR2 PC2 - 6400 4 GB of ram. I can do and it's going to be some speed improvements, if I update to PC2-6400 PC2-5300 instead?

I have 2 hard drives on my P200 17 c. 2 x 100 GB. I want to upgrade one of these two HD ranging from 100 GB to 320 GB 5400 RPM. can I do this? and it'll be a difference if I update with HD who has 7200 RPM?

    Thank you

First of all: your machine is able to handle a maximum capacity of 4 GB RAM, but please be aware that you won´t be able to use all of the 4 GB due to some limitations of the chipset that are explained in the following article: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB82022E0000R01.htm

Regarding the speed of module: chipset specifications are defined for PC5300, so it will not improve your speed when you install faster modules.

If you want to upgrade your hard drive then do as you like, because it shouldn´t be any restrictions, you can install a drive with 7200 RPM with a slower.

The only difference will be that the faster drive faster. The performance of the entire system would increase only when you´re install your operating system on the disk more fast (which is the recommendation of my side :))

  • Satellite A300-23d and memory upgrade

    Hi all

I want to upgrade my laptop memory 4 GB to 6 or 8, I got the Satellite A300-23d.

What is the best memory for me? I'll get the Win7 64 bit OS
I understand I have to do a clean install of the operating system, so my 2 Q is where can I get all the programs of Toshiba I got with the pc?

    Thannks for the help

    Hello

Up to 8 GB of RAM according to specification for laptop computer, you can upgrade.
You must use the RAMs 1 GB / 2 GB / 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz. If you 2x2gb for now, you can buy 4 GB of RAM additional or maybe two of them to use maximum RAM.

Module of RAM of 4 GB compatible a part PA3670U-1M4G number.

Win7 drivers download page you will find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/windows7_drivers.jsp
Unfortunately for your models PSAGCE drivers are not available for the moment. I'm sure that the pilots will be ready for download in the next few days. From time to time to check this page and you will see when drivers will be there.

  • Satellite P100-160 and memory upgrade

I have a P100-160 with 2 GB of memory installed.
I use Win7 (32 bit) and do some really serious graphics, and management changes.
I use about 2.75 TB of hard drives (USB).

Can you get it someone please let me know if I could reasonably expect to see an improvement in the performance and reliability by increasing the installed memory.

Other (other than buying a new laptop) suggestions for performance improvement would be welcome.

    Thank you

    Ian

If you are happy with this old piece of hardware you n t need new laptop computer. Upgrade of RAM is OK and you can do it alone. According to tender specifications that your P100 can be upgraded up to 4 GB of RAM.

Compatible memory modules for your Satellite are:
    1 GB (PA3411U-2M1G)
    2 GB (PA3513U-1M2G)

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

    Regards Marcel.

The easiest way is to use a kit to upgrade. I used an upgrade kit from Corsair with a series of strength notebook SSD SATA 3 expansion kit. It came with a cable adapter usb and cloning software that allowed me to re-bind SSD to the laptop. I installed the software cloned OS to SSD and removed the original hard drive and replaced by the SSD.  This notebook is incredibly fast.

There are other ways to do it, but it's probably the simplest method for most people.

    Hello

I have a HP Desktop M1188A running XP Media Center 2005.  The computer runs very slowly and was only 27.6 GB of free space left on the hard drive with a total area of 149GB.  It has 512 MB of memory installed a 4 GB maximum.  Speed supported is PC3200 MB/sec.  Type of DDR.  DIMM slots 4.  160 GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive.  Fact hard drive 160 GB 7200 RPM SATA means it is a SATA connection?

I want to switch the HARD disk like this I hope that the computer runs faster.  I'm a complete novice with respect to the operation of computers.  What to buy to upgrade the HARD drive?

Will it also upgrade the installed memory?  If so, what to do?

    Everything I need to know?

    Thank you.

    See you soon,.

    Michelle,

Try for battery HP to THE Bing search engine, I found several sites in line with the Chargers and batteries. BattDepot Australia seems to have decent prices... At$ 24.49 for the loader and THE $37,49 for battery. If you have not yet checked the HP battery reminder page, I recommend you do this first.

    After all, it's easy

    I finally solved it

I bought the upgrade memory and a new drive

I ordered the 1 + 5 rescue & recovery and product recovery CD

I reinstalled the XP Professional factory (rescue and recovery disk is not explicit about the possibility to reinstall on a new drive, if the precedent was broken, but finally I found the way)

The pages of OS system information and Device Manager the list just like a g6 pavilion, and the physical label on the back of the camera is not even go that far.  It does not list the item such as a 584037-001, whatever that means.  How can I know which (the suffix xxxx g6) my g6 is in fact so I can identify the best modules of memory for an upgrade?

You have a laptop HP Pavilion 2002au g6. Unfortunately you happened to choose a laptop that is not so simple to upgrade.

You will need to contact an online memory provider and ask them for help to find a guaranteed compatible 8 GB upgrade or buy the upgrade from HP.

Search for suppliers of memory online using Google or Bing and ""memory upgrade HP Pavilion g6-2002au ' as keywords. " I strongly recommend that you don't settle for anything memory compatible modules less guaranteed by well known memory manufacturers.

  • Problem with access to WV and HAVE

So I see a few problems with the two Appstacks and writeable volumes in 2.5.0 which I think relate just a matter of what needs to be changed.

    • Writable volumes
      • I have 2 accounts for my account that I attributed an accessible volume writable on a specific system.  When I log in the system in question that subscribe to the Windows profile Service is unable to load.  If I am in the same system with my secondary account on the same system I have no problem.  If I kill the accessible volume writable in the Manager of that then I can login with my account first without problem.
      • I checked that I have no profile on the system, because it is a fresh charge and I use a local administrator account to join to the domain.
    • App stacks
      • If I attached a test battery to a provisioning system and try to install the software I could not create the directory "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Cryptophane" error 5: access is denied.  As soon as I cancel the commissioning Manager of installation of the software is complete without problem.

The service account, I'm under Manager of appVolumes as the role of the admin

If I connect to vcenter I can watch the virtual machine and see that the volumes are attached to the virtual machines in question.

I tried several versions to see if there is something defined in Windows which is causing the problem.

If a solution has been found.  It turns out a GPO has been the cause of the problem.  Once I added my test machines to an exclusion it resolved the problem.

The policy in question contains the following settings that were the culprit

Access to the removable storage / system

    • All removable storage Classes: deny all access-enabled
    • WPD Devices: Deny access read-enabled
    • WPD Devices: Deny access to write-enabled

Is about to test an App stack, but this seems to be the culprit.

  • Problem of PowerEdge 850-> 6 GB 2 GB memory upgrade

    Hello

I am sorry to post a topic here, but I'm a little frustrated with my inability to upgrade my memory in my server PowerEdge. The server has been sitting in its box for a while and now that I need to use it, things go wrong!

Initially, I bought the server with two 1 Gb simms installed. Look at my page in support of the bus of these speed is 533 MHz. Today, I decided I need of a few more memory than it and bought two new 2 Gb simms (Kingston KVR800D2N6 / 2G). These news have a speed of 800 MHz. I understand that the memory should slow down to the lowest common speed, i.e. the 533 MHz of the original simms.

Read this link it explains how the memory must be inserted into the server:

    http://physics.uku.fi/tietotekniikka/laitteet/Dell/PE850/it/t8652c50.htm#wp1196338

And this link defines the designation of memory media:

    http://physics.uku.fi/tietotekniikka/laitteet/Dell/PE850/it/t8652aa0.htm#wp1059656

The two 1 Gb simms were taken 1 a and 1 b as described here.

So I moved the two 1 Gb simms faced 2A and 2B, the new 2 GB simms inserting Sockets 1A and 1B.

When I started the server, I was greeted with the dreaded beeps! Lights A and C are green while B and D are orange, as described here:

    http://physics.uku.fi/tietotekniikka/laitteet/Dell/PE850/it/t8652c20.htm#wp1056898

I tried to go back to my original memory and the computer started with 2 GB or RAM. I put just the new memory and it started again without problems and 4 GB or RAM. So it seems I have a problem with the two different sets of simms.

The combination of size should be acceptable according to the first link I included.

All the memory simms work on their own as I saw by starting it with combinations of 2 GB and 4 GB.

Is there a problem with the mixture of speeds he of memory?

Any help to get all of this joint work would be most appreciated.

I can add more technical info on request.

Recently saved this PC of my friend tries to throw it. Everything is fine with the PC. It works perfectly and there is no material visible failure wihtin the PC either. He just bought a new and had no need for this one.

Before turn me this into a House mutli-purpose server, I decided to upgrade the RAM.

So I did some research and found this page: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01883661

DDR3 240-pin DIMM 1333 MHz non - ECC, Max 4 GB per DIMM slot, Total Max 16 GB module.

I went and bought RAM Corsair. Link to the product: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/cmv4gx3m1a1333c9

I decided to get 2x4gb and upgrade later if I felt the need.

I was happy to install in the PC. one in DIMM 1 slot and the other in the DIMM 2 slot.

    BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!

I thought that maybe the slots are wrong, maybe they have to odd numbers then numbers.

So I changed the RAM of DIMM 2 DIMM 3.

    Once again, the annoying ringtone.

I even tried leaving just the 4 GB DIMM 1 and tried to start the PC, but nothing helped.

I tried a lot of different combinations with the end result is 5 annoying beeps.

After that I thought that maybe, just maybe, an update of the BIOS can change things.

So I installed Windows 7 (I can't stand Windows. Arch Linux FTW) and performing a BIOS update.

I then installed the new RAM again. Yes... frickin 5 beeps AGAIN.

I am extremely disappointed at this point. I spent already $ 70 on a computer with free access.

I read the forums here, but I couldn't find a thread with a solution for me.

Is there anyone on this forum who could lend me a helping hand?

Any information would be gladly appreciated.
