  You do not press and hold.  You press VERY briefly until the icons wiggle and X in the upper right corner.  You can remove the application.  Not all applications (for example, settings, photo, Messages, pictures, clock) can be deleted.

  I am running an app that has buttons with momentary action, IE when you click and hold the rest button down, release when you release the mouse button. For the moment, I'm stumped on how to replicate that with the touch interface. I disabled the hold for click option right but still not good.

  It seems that the action of click is made once you take your finger off the screen. There are "helper" apps that provide additional functionality to touch?

  I'm not sure of the TAB key in particular, but open the Control Panel Accessibility Options and see if the boxes checked.  If so, uncheck the and restart.
