BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry Curve 8330 Questions?

What continues?  I have a question about my wife 8330.  She received these messages from a random number, but in the message, he said //BREW:0104F4BC:0ZMAILCI= and more random letters and digits.  So I wiped his thought of last night phone he could get rid of everything that makes this because I did it for my Storm and it worked.  Well, it didn't work on his phone, messages still come and now she cannot reply to emails, it says no service message configured, you will only be able to save as draft.  Can someone help me solve these two problems?  Thank you.

Follow the procedure described in the link I gave you above...

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB Curve 8330, keep or find another phone?

When I bought my first BB Curve 8330, it was a few days after when I was told that I had to send it back and get a new one because of defects.  I came to know and love my 8330 until the trackball stopped working a few days back.  Now, it is the second BB Curve 8330 after only 1 1/2 months.  After Service of Sprint working on the trackball, they said I was approved for a new replacement phone, or keep my current phone and see what happens with the trackball?  Of course, I decided to trade once more my current phone for a new because obviously something is wrong with my current phone or they wouldn't swap a new.

Question; What is the standard?  This is common with the BlackBerry Curve 8330 or total BlackBerry?  Should I start thinking about making another smart phone instead of an another BlackBerry Curve 8330?  My phone works very well with my work email and the telephone directory.  Any suggestions or advice from the pros out there?  I was told to come back tomorrow August 07 after 15:00 to pick up a new because they are "back ordered and in stock?"  Is there a known flaw on the BB Curve 8330, I don't know.  I'd appreciate your comments and advice...

    Pchmike,

IMHO, I think that you should definitely keep your phone. While your experience with a bad phone is not the standard, any new device requires patience until the settings are completed, and learn you all the functions of the phone. Your experience with a stuck ring is an example of normal 'glitches that may occur when you start to exercise any kind of device.

Stick to these forums and it will help reduce your frustrations. I learned so much and so fast, it is the best basis of knowledge I've seen. The people on this site will go further to help, especially because we've been there.

I suggest you go through BlackBerry 101 and 101 Crackberry to help your learn faster. Here are the links:

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 Blackberry Smartphones: Spinning hourglass and no email

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 (about two months) on network VerizonWireless. Yesterday, I started to see a spinning hourglass that wouldn't go away, and now I can't receive emails. (I'm not on a customer business). The signal shows 1XEV connection and I see the ' up/down' arrows flashing periodically, but still no email comes through. All except the standard five applications are closed and I tried the option "remove the battery when the unit is running and wait a few minutes before plugging it back" does not. (The hourglass stopped for a few minutes, but came back and I'm still not received my email).

Another challenge is that I use a Mac with OS X 10.4.11, not a PC based on Windows, so I don't have the software Manager to use.

Can someone give me an option before taking this thing back to the store?

    Thank you

@rmaurer: I forgot to mention the battery drain, but the mine who did as well.

The idea of 'everything back and get another' is never very satisfying for me. Especially if I have to keep doing it over and over again (like bobcawman, above), and he never really addresses the problem. If this is the case, then it seems that I bought a bad product, not only got a defective unit.

The solution for me was to back up all my data by using the Desktop Manager, then reload the operating system of the VZW website software. The process was a bit complicated, and I'm sorry, I don't remember the exact steps to share here, but there is an option on the web site for the latest version of the software (4.5 for Verizon, I think). That solved the problem for me so far. I suppose however that the real question, why what is happening with so many people. I've seen many, many messages on exactly the same thing. I wonder if it's an issue just with the previous version of the software, or something more serious with the 8330 in general operating system.

    I'll wait and see...

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry Curve 8330/BlackBerry Storm dilemma

So I'm a college student and it was just time for a new cell phone and I wanted the BlackBerry Storm. I lived with the case on a particular site that he had a lower price than the initial price. So I was filled out the contract and the end decided, it may be cheaper to get another phone. (Well, I didn't decide it, but it's not the point)

To remedy this, I'll and checkout the BlackBerry Curve 8330. I'm filling out the contract and I can't seem to achieve the process that it is basically about the same price as the BlackBerry Storm with all the features that are added to the end. I so go ahead and get it.

Afterwards, I do the calculation and finally realize... "HEY!" For the price, that I might as well have stuck with the BlackBerry Storm'.

So now, I just wonder, until I myself beat too if there is no reason to fight. Is the BlackBerry Storm really good or I'm better off the coast with the BlackBerry Curve or is it important? I really want to a new touch screen phone and I liked the look of the Blackberry Storm. Not to mention that I think the curve is old enough right. Although I don't like the curve. Then Yes.

Any input will be greatly appreciated. I just joined just to ask this question so I hope it was worth.

    Thank you.

  • Coverage PINK Blackberry Curve 8330 BlackBerry Smartphones Will come up on my Blackberry Curve 8320?

So, I want to buy a pink lid for my Blackberry Curve 8320. However, when I look on eBay or Amazon, pink rugs say they are for the Blackberry Curve 8330 (I know that Verizon is out with the pink telephone). Is there a difference? Should be always on my phone?

(I mean the real case, not only a pink rubber or case cover to put on my phone)

    Thank you!

Yes, as long as you ALSO replace the keyboard AND the small part that is under the keyboard.

If you have any questions or need to order extra parts, I suggest you call and purchase of Horizon Wireless, they will sell you the correct thing.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones my PC does NOT recognize my Blackberry Curve 8330 at all!

I'm at the end of the roll, trying to figure out this question. My Blackberry Curve 8330 just will be not recognized my Vista PC running at all.

    Here's what I know:

-My phone was purchased new may 9. It's the Verizon service, so what matters.

-My phone has a microSD inside memory card.

-(Home and car chargers) USB charge cords work to charge my phone. I see the icon taken directly to the left of the battery and it stays there until I have unplug the unit.

-I tried different USB cords to connect my phone to the PC and nothing works. When I plug in, the phone displays the icon card very briefly and then disappears. Nothing appears in the device for the USB slots Manager, either.

-All USB slots are the same, even those at the back of the computer.

-Other USB devices (iPod, for example) work very well.

-Ce How - to guide: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&thread.id=3...

I uninstalled Desktop Manager and installed the USB/Modem drivers (as it says). Those that I have used is worm. 4.7. still nothing. I restarted the computer and still nothing. This solved nothing. (Even used such 4.5 recommended in this thread, and it does not, either.)

What exactly should I do to get my PC recognise the Blackberry? I can't do some of the things I want to do until this issue is resolved. Because the USB port works to load, then I think that it must be my computer, but where the conflict is and how to fix it, I don't know.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Believe it or not, this problem has been resolved by the simplest of ways - simple up to what I feel embarrassed!

Know how they say when he's broke to book on I have and it works? Well I hate to be energetic on electronics, but I hit just the USB cable in the port of the BB curve. Then it started working like a charm.

All that stress and all I had to do was show some muscle.

After that it would not recognize the device in Windows as a mass storage device. This has been fixed by the backup of the memory card on the PC to save my pictures then insert into the BB and put in shape. At that time I also found instructions online to change the drive letter of the mass of the F: BB storage device a letter less used to resolve a conflict.

My BB Curve is perfect now and all we needed was the strength to fix. Again, I can't wait to beat him and mistreating my electronics but sometimes it works!

In conclusion, please don't make me feel too embarrassed lol.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB Curve 8330 camera indicators survey

My Blackberry Curve 8330: there are "200 +" on the lower left side of the screen of the device. With the occasional ' 200 +!  Can someone tell me what this means? Any help is appreciated to gratly.

    -HE'S

    Welcme to Frums!

I found this on another forum. I quote from it.

"The camera Help file says. In the device, if the viewfinder does not occupy the full screen, the approximate number of pictures that you can save appears in the lower left corner of the screen

Its how many photos you can take. The card just shows 200 + until it becomes weak and it may contain only less than 200.

BB 8300 can hold about 30. You can test they buy going to your cameras settings and change the photos of store definition from on multimedia card in the device memory. "

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Curve (8330 Verizon) has spinning hourglass

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 from Verizon, a month ago. It is configured with a Blackberry Enterprise Server to my work. A few weeks ago, I woke up one morning to a spinning hourglass. Applications seem to work and I could make calls. However, everything was really slow. I tried connect to Verizon for a software update. That did not help. Then, I tried a few resets hard (removal of the battery). That did not work also. The boot has taken longer than usual and I found myself with spinning hourglass each time. I called Verizon and they said that I had to wipe the device and try again.

I wiped it and then set up all my accounts e-mail again. Then I got the email people send me a different password to set up the connection with MS Exchange. Everything seemed fine for a few weeks. Then, this morning, I found the same thing. I tried a few resets hard. One thing I also noticed this time is that if I try voice component, the application says "during initialization... "and then to block the phone. And all that is using the CPU is also drain the battery. My battery is at 45 percent four hours after I took it off the charger.

When I spoke to Verizon this time they told me they would send me a new phone. I will try this, but to be honest, that I'm not sure that's the problem. I suspect the buggy software. It's really frustrating. Surely, there must be a way to solve exactly which process is this?

Oh, I almost forgot to mention third-party applications, that I installed. I don't like cluttering up the Blackberry with many extras as I am not very confident when it comes to the quality of the software. Here's what I've got there:

    * - TellMe

    * - Client AIM (downloaded on RIM)

    * - Update Facebook client

    * - Opera browser

There are a lot of memory (more than 55%) when I check the status display.

I have a memory card of 4 GB installed with some MP3 and photos. The card has 3 GB free.

    Any suggestions?

I had this problem 3 times.  The 3rd time the tech at verizon from disabling applications.  When we turned the hourglass on facebook went.  Touch wood, but my phone has not started to act up again again.  It's been 3 days now and everything is good so far.  If he does so since tomorrow, it will be the longest, it worked with the hourglass turning upward.  The tech said that he had seen a few times so far and on each of them noticed we all used facebook, so he tried and so far it works.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones turn off all tones of button on the Blackberry Curve 8330

Is there a way to disable all button on the Blackberry Curve 8330 tones so that when you dial numbers you do not hear a noise?  The only thing I see is to transform the key tone on what makes all the keys make a noise.  I want to be able to dial a call without hearing the key tones.  Is it possible to do it on this phone?  Thank you.

Hello jhnstn33. In the most recent device software if your profile is silent, silent, or vibrate then you won't get the tones when you dial a number. I don't know if this has changed in 4.5 or 4.6. What software version are you running? You can find under Options | Everything.

  • Used to synchronize synchronize my Blackberry Curve 8330 Smartphones blackBerry with Outlook and Yahoo contacts and calendars.

Used to synchronize my Blackberry Curve 8330 to sync with my Outlook & Yahoo contacts and calendars.  There is no error message, it just don't do.  Any suggestions?

You can upgrade to 4.7 WITHOUT Media Manager.  Some people have problems with the MM.  It's also a great Setup and it is easier to use the drag-and - drop in windows Explorer with the lit on your BB mass storage mode.

Personally, I use DTM 4.6 without MM and have no problem.

  • Smartphones blackBerry Curve 8330 Line Out for external speakers?

Hello!    I wonder if it is possible to use the headphone jack of 3.5 mm to the music of the road since the BlackBerry Curve 8330 through speaker / stereo receiver system. I tried to use a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack to RCA stereo/video from the BlackBerry to the RCA headphone port / V ports on my amplifier/receiver, with the audio never play via the loudspeaker in the handset or the speaker. The audio plays fine in the headphones supplied with the Curve 8330. Also I noticed in another thread, someone tried to do something similar, but the car's audio system, and the problem they had was that the cable they used was incompatible somehow. If anyone has any experience with this or knows what type of cable to use, your advice would be much appreciated! Thank you. -Sladian

I spoke with a friend who tried the same case, and he said that the problem is in the type of cable. The headset uses the third ring on the voice data sheet (line) while the other two are for audio and the ground. When using a PIN to 3 RCA (Audio video + stereo) unit seems to have a problem with resolution of the video with the microphone online. When you use the headphone of BlackBerry as a line of output, please make sure they use only a stereo (L + R) RCA (2-pin) cable to avoid the problem of the video line line mic.
