  Open your profile > scroll down to Advanced or set ring tones / alerts and edit that section to set the SMS notification.

• BlackBerry Smartphones VM-605 HELP! Please

  I recently bought a Blackberry VM-605 and paired with my Blackberry Pearl.

  It was working fine until I accidentally deleted the VM-605 from my paired devices list.  Now they 2 will not be reconncect.

  When I tried to search for the device again from my Pearl it tells me that there is no new device not found and the VM-605 keeps just the search and the search.

  is it possible that I can plug the 2 devices?  I don't want to have to return the unit and it would be difficult for me because I can not find the reception because I wasn't planning on returning it.

  Also, can you connect more than 1 device on the VM-605?  Also, I have an iphone and I was wondering if I could do it?

  OK, I think I've cracked it.

  The VM-605, press the FM button (left side) and the Volume right key for 4 seconds. After 4 seconds the VM-605 said 'In pairing Mode', you can search for the device on your Blackberry Blurtooth mode and it will allow you to associate using the default key 4 x zeros

  I can't tell you how you got in this situation, but what you describe resembles a restriction of the COMPUTING policy... Please check here:

  If there is a COMPUTING strategy and you are on corporate/BES, then you have to go talk to your BES admins... they are in control.

  If you have a COMPUTER policy but are not in BES, then you will need to make fairly drastic measures to clean it... and you don't need your original discs... just a PC and access internet.

  I tried to back up my phone with the blackberry desktop manager. I continued my password (I couldn't remember exactly what it was, I went online and to reset to the last attempt). I received the confirmation email that it has been reset, so I returned the new reset password. He said it was bad anyway and started wiping my device. EVERYTHING - all my contacts, all my sms, all my work, all emails. I jumped the battery when he was about 6% of the wiping process, but every time I got back on it starts wiping again. Please please please help me, how can I stop this? It's my phone, I have entered the correct password, I wanted to just back up my data and now I lose everything instead.   up to a few days a go, I was able to surf the web and send/receive surveys bbm so I was on the phone, I contacted blackberry and they said to contact my service provider, so I did it and then we me contact blackberry once again, so I don't have all the answers. There is nothing wrong with my phone while I'm not in a call, but it's a nice feature to receive surveys bbm so I was in a call, I reset my whole phone and I'm still not having any luck can someone help me please?

  3G or WiFi is the only service on this device which will allow the data at the same time as a phone call.  There's no other way.

  Please uninstall AppWorld options > device > application management.

  Scroll down to BlackBerry AppWorld > delete.

  Perform a restart on the BlackBerry this way: with the phone smart BlackBerry turned on, remove the battery for a min. and then reinsert the battery of waiting until it reboot.

  Now, since your browser BB go to thewww.blackberry.com/appworld and install again.

  After installation go to app world and see if you are able to download on a PC, you can also try to scan the barcode of this application, it will request a download link on your device. Please try it and let us know. But like I said try to download Over the Air.

  App world tells me on the right side of the page that my machine is connected (which is) via the USB port. I tried the phone turned off, taking the battery for more than a minute to be sure, restart the phone, restart the computer and try again with no luck.

  I also tried several browsers, Chrome and Firefox.

  I therefore disabled my firewall and still had no success. This gets really annoying, and my blackberry seems to have stupid questions like this forever.

  I tried in IE and it works. Went back to Firefox and Chrome, and it does not work. But the interesting thing is a friend tried his blackberry on my computer and it works fine in Firefox.

  EDIT: I found the problem, I deleted the App World Plugin from my computer and reinstalled Firefox and it works. Why it does not detect that I use a plugin obsolete?

  Anyway, problem solved.

  Whenever I open any document it opens with a grid set although the function of the grid is not checked. It closes as soon as I use Ctrl + H or close the function in the menu, but it reappears in the following document/picture etc. I use the grid a lot but have never experienced this before. It's very frustrating! It seems to me that there is a simple solution, button to press or setting to change, but turns suddenly so it feels more like a default any.

  CTRL h is short for "hide all", controlling the band guides of ants (selection) and its grid.  You must use the individual shortcut for the grid that is Ctrl ' (apostrophe).  CTRL; Activates / deactivates the Guides.

  Recovery tools:

  If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

  To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

  In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

  Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

  Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

  First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

  If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

  If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.
   
  If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

  A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

  Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

  Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages.
