  • Switching devices blackBerry Smartphones using the Desktop Manager

I just got my Torch 9800 replacement since my first only the battery was drainning (apparently a common problem).

Until I returned my old Torch 9800 I backed up and also used the device switch option in Desktop Manager. When it asked me to connect the new device, I unplugged the old camera, he took to the shop orange and then plugged my new camera.

Then an error has occurred and asked me to update the software on the new device. I did it... and then when I use switching devices, it asks me to connect the current device but the problem is... I don't have the camera more.

As I backed up all the data, I did a restore. He restored most of the data, but it has not restored my apps.

Any idea on how I can do?

I hope it is interesting all that.... and I get a better battery life this time!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Ah... never mind. While the device switch Wizard can indeed move a few apps, the backup/restore process does not have applications. So, in the State you are in, you must go to the source of your applications and re - get them. If you by AppWorld, the process is very smooth:

    • KB17625 How to install or transfer has already purchased apps from BlackBerry App World for BlackBerry smartphone

If you have from other sources, then you should see if these sources are a simple way for you. I hope you have good record of all your activation keys... and some will indeed have to be regenerated some developers to attach the key on the BB SPINDLE, which is now different since you have a new device.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones phone slow - activity monitor - the file manager/Explorer

In fact, I have 3 questions that are more or less related I think.  (1) I installed a lot of apps since getting my 9530 Storm a few days ago, especially to try.  Since then, occasionally when I try to do something, I'll see just the icon of "transformation" (the circular icon with the one hand forward like a clock) for a very long time.  It is not always the same app or thing I try to do.  I suspect that * part * of the problem is that I was not closing apps - that moving from one to the other, and he left running in memory to the bottom of things (in particular, I suspect PocketDay and Internet browser for it).  Keep the battery solved the problem every time.  This leads to my next question: (2) is it a kind of application or activity monitor app which will let me know what programs are juice?  I saw a kind of app somewhere that is supposed to kind of manage the memory and do a "battery pull reboot" without physically pull the battery.  Maybe that's what I'm looking for.  (3) is there a kind of thing edge file manager/Explorer?  I know there must be an app for this, and I have no problem any display on my lap as mass storage.  I'm talking about something from the BB itself.  Recommendations for a good?   Thanks for any comment on this.  I will do this kind of things slowly, but thought it was a jet-out for some ideas.

    Hello!

    Lots of advice... start here...

There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1) application memory, the device memory) 2 and 3) Media/SD memory card

Application memory - it is the most important; It is protected (not available to the user), dedicated and (fixed size) space as the destination for the installation of applications (more a few storage applications, overhead and other costs). You can't touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can install only here... There is no other choice.

The device memory - it is space on your BB you can touch these files, images, media, etc. In general, it is not very big, but it is available.

Memory card SD/Media - is what it says... your SD card to store files, media, photos, etc.. It can be as large as your BB OS can support... see this KB:
    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/KB05461

On some devices/OS levels, enforcement and the memory of the device are combined into "free file"... This is, IMO, a little more difficult to administer that you can't see really how AppMemory you have. Nevertheless, here are some tips to use:
    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/KB15345
    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/KB14320
    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/KB14213

Finally, it is always important to correctly close applications when you are finished with them. Using the back or on the red button won't do that - those leave the app to decide what to do... and some let themselves memory-resident, consumes resources on your BB, slowing down the overall performance. Rather, to close an application, press the BBKey and select 'Farm' or 'Quit'... that forces the application to be closed, freeing for your new use the resources it consumed. Some applications will always be running (in general - BBMessenger, browser, homescreen, phone and Messages)... but, you should always close them properly - especially the browser... If we leave on a web page, it will not consume only additional resources, but the power of the battery as well.

Now, to your question about memory management and a reboot Batt-Pull simulated... There is indeed an application for the part... of the latter it is called QuickPull and it is available via AppWorld or directly from Steelhorn. I have the pro version and it works fine - except that he can't perform the reset if the device is locked with a password. But I can work around that. I restart my storm every night and allows me to stay in good shape... full batt-tire is a rare thing now (zero not... just rare).

Regarding the management of files embedded... Indeed it is. Launch the Media application, but do not select any of the individual applications. Press the BBKey and select Explorer... you are now in the native file Explorer.

    See you soon!

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB 9320 activation Email account: company?

Hello! I am a new blackberry user, I tried searching through google on how to activate an e-mail account. When I click on the mail button, it says: no account activated

    Account activation

To activate your company, enter the details provided by your system administrator in the fields below

I read that it should first of all give you an option: company or the personal account. In this case, it shows no option. Help please!

No, John, you don't need an activation code.

IF all you see is the "Enterprise activation" icon and no personal email configuration icon, that means two things...

    1. Your BlackBerry is not provided with the data BlackBerry BIS Plan; Call your mobile provider and order or subscribe to the plan.
    2. You have subscribed to the correct BlackBerry BIS data Plan; Call your mobile provider and make sure that they have not made a mistake with the wrong plan, and/or the elapsed time of the to be available to your BlackBerry.
    3. Perform a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart. A reboot in this way often "resets" you to the network and the data Plan.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones PC and Desktop Manager cannot detect my 8520 phone

My PC and Blackberry Desktop Manager do not detect my 8520 phone when connected to my PC.  I tried all the suggestions for example remove/replace battery and reinstall the desktop software. But when I look under Ports, in my device manager there are two entrances: -.

V2 (Com3) RIM Virtual Serial Port and

RIM Virtual Serial Port (Com4) v2

Is there are two entrances, and this could be the source of my problem?

  • BlackBerry Smartphones 8320 Curve Desktop Manager

    Hi all

When I plug my Blackberry Curve 8320 to my computer Desktop Manager begins and starts checking the updates of the application, but does not worked for 2 hours straight without stopping and it only about 2 weeks since I finally hung it.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Desktop Manager is not the best programs, he has problems. I uninstalled and reinstalled mine several times. Why don't you try that... remove everything and load it onto. It's a bit of a pain, I know, but I hope that suits him. Make sure you have the latest version of too - 4.7. Here is a link:

    https://www.BlackBerry.com/downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22

I would get one without the Media Manager because it is smaller and works better for me. I have the media manager, but if you then by all means use it.

    See you soon

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Can that I manage my calendar from my computer?

I recently spent a Palm PDA, I could manage my contacts, calendar etc on my desktop software.  Is it available with the Blackberry, or do I have to do everything from my handheld?

OK, coool... to halfway there, huh?

So open DM > Sync > Configuration. You will find several parameters for only future calendar items, you can set a number of days range, etc.

Check the configuration of the synchronization that you have your Outlook calendar set to synchronize with the outstretched hand.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Intellisync in Desktop Manager

Recently, I installed Desktop Manager to my Pearl 8110. I have tried to sync my e-mail folders and messages sent to my MS Outlook, but could not find the option to do so. I studied the possibility of finding a reconciliation wireless through personal e-mails and found that I can not do this. Please correct me if I am wrong on this point. My BB account and electronic mail are configured as follows:

1 MS Outlook 2007 in MS XP Pro

    2. personal e-mail account set up with a GoDaddy domain name that is received at my office via Outlook.

I bought this phone because of the option to receive email on the move and did not buy the iPhone.

Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can give me.

You could BCC yourself on any sent by emails to BB and then create a filter in your carrier BIS account do NOT send to your handheld, Yes. AND to define a filter in Outlook for those of you carry in a certain folder in outlook.
