  • Deploy an icon on the BlackBerry smartphone to a web application or URL

    Hello

I want to deploy an icon on the BlackBerry for a web application is home.  When the user click on this icon, I automatically want to launch my web app (URL).

    I found this article:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800708/800655/How_To _...

And I read about 'push channel browser', which seems to do exactly what I want to do:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/7979/1181821/832210/Developi...

I did a test with my Blackberry that is connected to a BES, and it works very well using the code example.

My question is this, 'channel browser push' can be used for Blackberry that is not configured in our BES.

For example, I want to be able to deploy an icon on the Blackberry from customers and suppliers we have, but these Blackberries are not related at all our BES or network.

Is it possible to do this?  If so, should I do something special to make it work?

If not, does that mean my only solution is to create a Java application that automatically launch the browser Blackberry (second option from the first link)?

    Thanks for your help!

Channel browser push you make reference to requires the user is on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

The alternatives to this is a Java application (as you have discovered), BlackBerry Widget or Signal of Web.  Web signals is the equivalent to a BlackBerry Internet Server Browser channel thrust.

BlackBerry Widget SDK (applications requires a BlackBerry 5.0 device software)

  • BlackBerry smartphones is browser Blackberry Blackberry Services

I have a Playbook and want to increase its functionality by investing in a Blackberry smart phone. There are a few things I'm not sure and would appreciate advice from participants in the forum:

    1. The Blackberry browser automatically comes with the 9320 curve or is it only available if you pay for the Services of Blackberry?
    2. Are there other features (other than the Blackberry e-mail access and e-mail) that comes with the paid for services?
    3. If I connect a Blackberry Smartphone to my Playbook I'll be able to run applications smartphone installed on my Playbook, although there may be not be an equivalent app Playbook?
    4. What is the oldest version of Outlook that can be synchronized with a smartphone?

Hello... and apologies for the late reply.

The browser comes as part of the core OS BB on the device, but depending on the level of the OS, it may or may not be able to operate without an adequate data plan subscription. Some (most recent) OS levels allow the browser to function very well via WiFi BB only, while others limit the browser race strictly via BIS (even when WiFi is the data connection only). Opera can be installed on the BB as a replacement browser and normally works very well when WiFi is available. Many 3rd party applications have parameters of configuration inside of them to direct the application to use BIS, BES, WiFi, etc. for their course of data... we must be sure to have the apps configured correctly to allow them access to a functional way, especially when BIS is not due to no data plan subscription.

    See for general guidance:

It is not quite fully updated for the newer operating system levels (see above re: BB browser), but it is generally reasonable to use.

Other than BBM and SMS (in newer versions of PB/BB/bridge), I don't know any way to run, your PB, whatever your BB at all. On the BB, he has the ability to remote control of the PB (via Bridge of BB), but not the other way around as far as I understand. Since you will not subscribe bis, you won't have BBM anyway.

    See this orientation:

    • KB12268 Support for synchronization for BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows

It is not in itself a function of the smartphone... but rather the version of the desktop software that is in use.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Magnify browser text/image

Hi all!  I'm a newbie on Blackberry assignments.  Just bought my Tour 9630 and real love it but I have a TERRIBLE TIME TRYING to READ THE TEXT in THE BOWSER.  Is there an application that I can download to increase the size of the browser text/images.  It is impossible to read more... and I'm not so old

Go to your browser, Options, General Properties. Now, you will see where you can change things. I have mine to column view, global Serif, size by default and Minimum value 8. Experiment and see what you come up with.

If it is a site of time and you teach yourself to develop web sites, you can do it.

    Change this

    To this

The code I changed is proper and adequate, but not really recommended, but one site of time, it should be good.

If this is your first website and you are eager to learn how to develop sites, you get a beginners tutorial in CSS and HTML.

  • How to enlarge printing Web pages and e-mails currently too small.

I have two browsers internet explore and Firefox, as well as windows vista. I loaded version 4.0.1. I just noticed that the fonts are super tiny when I print from web pages and emails. I can't say with certainty that the new version is responsible for this dysfunction. I tried to change the font type and size through your instructions in the knowledge base, without success. I need to know how I can fix this problem or direct me on how to download a previous version of Firefox to Vista.

    File > layout = scale

  • BlackBerry Smartphones please help me confirm my BB 9630 is unlocked? Thank you!

I have a BB Tour 9630 I recently received from Sprint and want to give it to a nephew as a birthday gift.  His parents are on another carrier (T-Mobile or Verizon - I don't remember) and I want to make sure that it will be able to work.

I disabled the line it's on and checked that all the items in the advanced-> SIM options show that "disabled", but do not know if I understand.  In addition, I was not sure if it will work on any network identity even after being unlocked.

1 is this to say that my phone is unlocked?

2 can be used with all shells?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

    Commonwealth says:

1 is this to say that my phone is unlocked?

From your description, I think so... but you should check again with this FAQ:

    Commonwealth says:

2 can be used with all shells?

It's a more complicated issue. It can definitely work for all functions on any carrier that already directly supports this model BB... you can check this page of product specifications for businesses that support:

But it can also run on a carrier network which is compatible with the BB radio. You can check the radio BB here (the 'Network' section) features:

You would have to research to specific carriers that you plan and their radio frequencies to ensure that the BB is indeed compatible with a network of carrier specific or not.

But, be aware that running on a network that does not natively support the BB model would likely result in features limited... it is difficult to get a BB model not supported to achieve full-BB services on a carrier network that does not directly support the BB model (even though the radio frequencies are compatible). Voice services (voice, SMS, MMS) are generally not a problem at all... but BB exclusive data services will be much more difficult. See this FAQ for general guidance:

On supports that fully support the model BB, the complete set of services probably is possible. Formats which do not support the model BB and yet the network and radio BB are compatible, it is likely that only the first or even the second level of services is possible (there are tricks to get the job full level third, but it is tedious and delicate). If the carrier network and radio BB are not compatible, then anything is possible.

Finally, it is really up to the carrier to decide if they allow even the BB on their network. They can say no. The fact that a BB can operate on a network (any level, for example) does not mean that the owner of the network in question will allow him. Really, you should check with the carrier you want to pass in order to be safe and to determine exactly the level of service that won't be possible.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones new browser T-Mobile Firmware locks Home Page

I have just updated the firmware on my Curve 8900 to the most recent version of T-Mobile (4.6.1.231) and concluded that the homepage of the web browser is set to http://wap.t-zones.com and cannot be changed through the menu options.  It's really annoying, as I never use all the things he and always go directly to pages of a bookmark or directly into a URL.  Is it possible to force the browser to start on a blank page, as he has done before, instead of having to wait to load all scripts in silent T-Zones etc.?

Oooh!  Do not take into account, after return service directories, I peut now change the home page and the "Internet browser" on my default browser option!

Problem solved!  Thanks for your help.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones with WiFi Web browsing

How can I choose to use the WiFi facilities for navigation rather than the web radio signal?

    NF1shl0ck wrote:

Great, thank you.  So if I have the WiFi turned on and connected to a network, that it will automatically connect.

Is it possible to check which connection is used?  Internationally, I do so I want to be sure, I don't hit with data charges.

If the WiFi light is white light, it works correctly.

If you are traveling internationally and connecte connected to a WiFi hotspot, turn off your Mobile network, leave ON your data Services and you will suffer no roaming data.

  • BlackBerry smartphones how browser problem fixed?

    my blackberry "BOLD" 9780 used can open Web site, for example. www.Facebook.com www.youtube.com, but now he cannot not the browser can only open wap or mobile site, please help, what do thnx;

    Hello alikadhian12,

    Welcome to the forums.

The option to enable the full version of the Web site will be site specific. For example, if you visit www.youtube.com and it redirect you to m.youtube.com then you can scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see an option 'Office '. If you click it, you will get the full version of the site.  Unfortunately, I'm not sure if Facebook® has the option available.

I hope this helps. Nice day.
