Hi @joedevo! Welcome to the Forums! I'm sorry that you're having problems with your BlackBerry.

Please check this box:

  • Go to Options (the one with the wrench)
  • Select Security>Parental controls.
  • Please check if the Parental controls is enabled, this could be the reason why you cannot use the browser and the BlackBerry App World
  • If it is enabled, see if the "browser" and "Facilities application" are NOT checked
  • Uncheck the option "Activate" entirely o disable Parental control, you will be prompted to enter a 4-digit password. You must know this password to perform this task.

Furthermore, you got this unit brand new?

Good luck!

You probably (I suppose) have a third-party application or theme do something.

Try to start the machine up in Mode without failure.

Article ID: KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in safe mode

Once started in safe mode, remove/uninstall third-party applications and themes. And then try to restart again normally.

Perform a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart.

Hello... and apologies for the late reply.

The browser comes as part of the core OS BB on the device, but depending on the level of the OS, it may or may not be able to operate without an adequate data plan subscription. Some (most recent) OS levels allow the browser to function very well via WiFi BB only, while others limit the browser race strictly via BIS (even when WiFi is the data connection only). Opera can be installed on the BB as a replacement browser and normally works very well when WiFi is available. Many 3rd party applications have parameters of configuration inside of them to direct the application to use BIS, BES, WiFi, etc. for their course of data... we must be sure to have the apps configured correctly to allow them access to a functional way, especially when BIS is not due to no data plan subscription.

    See for general guidance:

It is not quite fully updated for the newer operating system levels (see above re: BB browser), but it is generally reasonable to use.

Other than BBM and SMS (in newer versions of PB/BB/bridge), I don't know any way to run, your PB, whatever your BB at all. On the BB, he has the ability to remote control of the PB (via Bridge of BB), but not the other way around as far as I understand. Since you will not subscribe bis, you won't have BBM anyway.

It is not in itself a function of the smartphone... but rather the version of the desktop software that is in use.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Entourage problem on Mac. Help!

There is no timetable for syncing on this computer.

Please launch Microsoft Entourage or iCal and create a new calendar.

I can't find a way to bring up a calendar on Desktop manager 1.0.  Can someone help me here please. I live on my Blackberry and need to schedule to work.

    Ty

Hmm... OK before I try this, back up your data first in iCal and Apple address book.

Now, if you're brave enough, you can try to 'wash' your Sync Services on your own Mac database.

You can download the trial version of a program called "covering the tools."

    http://spanningtools.com/Mac/

There is a "Nuke sync services" feature, which will erase everything in sync services.

Once you have done this, create a new calendar in iCal, then create an appointment in this new calendar. Then, restart the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and see if he can pick up the new calendar now.

When you get to this step, press your home button (to the right of the trackpad), and you should be presented with the key method pre-shared and asked to enter the "password" of the connection to the router.

  • Frozen BlackBerry Smartphones after typing the password (). Help!

Any ideas before making a hard reset?

Last night, my Blackberry is not completely unblock after as I type my password. I type the right password and press ENTER, the password input section darkens (or it will stay on the "Enter Password" screen and seem to freeze). (If I type the wrong password it just invites me again, so I know I type the password). This is according to that multiple battery pulls.

Sometimes, after you type the password, I can hold the blackberry button and it will bring to the top of the box that allows me to BBM, browser, homescreen, etc and I can "switch" to this program, but there is a sort of shadow frozen area enter the password on the app that never I going to and I can't use the keyboard or the trackball in these applications.

This "box of jelly ' prevents me from using any application on my BB!

I CAN receive calls. Barely. I can only make calls if I remove the battery and only unlock the phone and go to the option to purchase the place.

I upgraded to OS 5 a week ago and until last night, things were fine. I hear my BB when it receives messages (work tones) or txt etc, but cannot read anything due to the lock!

The only suspect is Google Talk, I have installed two days ago and seemed to be hogging resources and drain the battery, however the phone worked well for about a day with it on. Google Talk is perhaps run at startup and hang up things? I doubt it, but it is full disclosure.

I also, pulled battery and removed the micro-sd card to see if it had an effect - unfortunately nothing helped.

An analogy I can think of it is as if Windows Explorer is blocked, but everything else works.

    THOUGHTS?

    Try this:

    (1) make sure that you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://NA.BlackBerry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    (2) on your PC, go to start > run and copy and paste the following line exactly (i.e. with quotation marks):

    'c:\program files\common research in motion\apploader\loader.exe' /nojvm

    (3) the Application Loader Wizard will appear - click on "next".
    (4) in the ' connection: ' drop-down menu, you should see "USB - PIN: UNKNOWN". Click on the button "next".
    (5) you should see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Try UNclicking the Google Talk application and remove the device and we'll see if that is the question.

NOTE: If you do not display the list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead to see the message "the Blackberry Desktop Software has no Blackberry Device Software for the device you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator', then you must download the Blackberry operating system for your support and your device.
    http://www.BlackBerryFAQ.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
Just select the appropriate type of carrier and network, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the steps above again and you should be on the right track.

  • Lost blackBerry blackberry smartphones, had some personal stuff please help me.

Today, I lost my blackberry curve and I tried to erase data using blackberry today, but I got a message that will be delivered the command once the phone is connected to a wireless network.

Another problem is I had upgraded to OS 6, but while he was restoring blackberry Protect it has not been installed correctly.

the data will be wiped off? also from the memory card.

I can't file a TREE due to some personal problems.

    Can I block this phone?

I don't know that it can be misused.

can someone give me please an email id of the RIM. where can I report my problem.

Please help me... I am really worried about my photos.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Report it to the police. Report it to your wireless service provider. Try to use BB Protect to wipe. Apart from that, there is nothing to do. If your personal questions prevent you to this point, then you must consider all of your data on your BB to be compromised.

    Good luck!

I think that you... I think that you have tried. But, from what you say here, I have no idea exactly what you have tried. There are the specifics... The KB numbers would help. But telling us just what you have said so far we, we cannot say anything on what you actually tried and therefore cannot give you next steps as we have need to exclude what you have already tried. But you need to tell us exactly what you have tried (even once, would help the KB numbers).

Please consider that we have only your words to guide us... nothing more than that. So far, your words have all the details to help us understand what you have already tried. I think you you tried something... I have no idea what it was.
