  I'm trying to understand how to change your contacts via the Desktop Manager... is it possible?

  So now you have the contacts in Outlook?

  So, edit your contacts in Outlook, get them as you want.

  And then you use the Desktop Manager > Sync > back to your BlackBerry.

  You are doing things.

  You cannot edit contacts directly in Desktop Manager... it doesn't work just like that on a BlackBerry, as users might be accustomed to using a Palm, which has its own separate software to do this. BlackBerry decided not to reinvent the wheel by creating a whole new software, when many many users already have a demand on their PC that does it well.

• BlackBerry smartphones can't pass purchased apps "not available to download from BB App World"

  Well, I just don't get this one.  This problem has been irritates me for some time... the upgrade to App World V2 makes no difference.

  I have an opinion on App World that a couple of my purchased apps are available updates.  I connect with my BB ID and access the App World page and click on the upgrade link.  App World tells me that the application already exists, I want to replace version 1 with version 1.1.  I hit 'yes '.  The bar and download activity starts... and a second later he tells me "[the app] is not available for download from Blackberry App World."

  What happens on two of my apps.  I can download free applications and install them correct, but for some reason, the updates fail as described.  I tried to delete an application and reinstall it from scratch, but that failed too with the same error message.  The apps most definitely those there _are_ on App World...

  Oh, and Yes, I did a battery [often] pull closed and open App World [also several times] as well as removing and reinstalling the App World [V1 and V2].  This behavior has persisted also leave before my last OS update.

  Good... thanks to a tip I had on another forum, I created a new BlackBerry ID with my old password and e-mail address, as my old PayPal information.

  After doing that I could download my app to the point dead and all updates seems to be well... my license and registration of data carried over the new code.

  I don't know if this will fix the other problems, but it seems to have worked for this problem... it's another avenue to try before making a lot of their removal and in all cases.

• BlackBerry Smartphones stopping incoming emails when it is connected to the Desktop Manager

  Hi all

  Me, stupidly, recently upgraded to the new v6 of DM when you are prompted to do so.   Since then, I was not able to prevent emails coming wireless when my BB is connected on the software.   I WANT THAT ABILITY BACK!

  OK, I realize I am perhaps odd in not wanting to have to deal with emails twice (Office AND on my BB) but I've been happily using my BB to the untethered email only.

  So the question is: How can I stop my BB receive emails when plugged in the DM?   (I have not yet tried roll back to the previous version of DM as that shocks a bit my sense of progress.)

  Any suggestions out there?

  I removed 6.0 DM and re-installed DM5.0 and everything is now working back again as it was.

  RIM need to consider seriously any roll outs of the "update" software like what they've done is wet off clients at best a beta version, with fewer features, but hey, the interface looked good!

  I suggest you upgrade your BlackBerry Desktop Software and then try to sync.

  Hi, I had this curve for less than a month, my boyfriend bought me for my birthday. last night I annoy me and I downloaded a theme that has an animated, background as soon as I put it in my theme my phone not frozen, no buttons work anything, with the exception of the animation to theme. I tried connecting to the blackberry Desktop Manager and he knows that the phone is connected computer just used connect fully.   Ive just spent the last 4 hours trying to untangle the little sisters of my GF after that she has downloaded a theme that just froze EVERYTHING.

  It's pretty simple, you need to do:

  1. remove the battery

  2 reinsert the battery - but keep an eye on the LED on the top right

  3. when the LED turns off (after a few seconds) press ESC (the escape key is the the winding arrow to the right of the beach towel)

  4. keep the presses until the process on the start screen bar is complete.

  5. This will start the phone in "safe" mode Click OK in all messages telling you your in safe mode

  6. now go and delete this app wasted hours of your life trying to remove!

  On my new BlackBerry Bold 9900 to add POP email accounts as described in the manual is not available. Only the enterprise option activation is provided. The BB is a no camera brand and sold by AMAZON. OS 7.1 Paket 2061 (V7.1.0.714, platform 5.1.0.532) is there a possibility to activate the email POP account option, because I don't want to use push / mail to the company.

  BB10 models the client polls for email on POP3 server at an interval that you select.  When the mail client is e-mail it downloads it not the device.   In function, you can set a time interval (30 minutes or an hour) and then manually refresh if you happen to check at any time between the two.   You can define short intervals, if you want and see what it does to the battery life.

  On models BBOS (with BIS such as described above), the BIS server made the polling stations, and it pushes email to the handset.  The polling interval depends on, if the BIS is to find send it to the server every time that he asks, so they tend to ask more frequently.  If there are no e-mail, he returned to the default which is something like 15 minutes.   Some accounts are pushed from email arrives, for example say Live or Outlook.com.

  Ringtones for my contacts do not work if the (Torch 9800) handset is locked; the default / everyone of another ring is used instead.  When the handset is not locked, it works well.  Someone knows how to fix this?

• BlackBerry Smartphones Custom Dictionary, machine learning does not appear in the dictionary.

  My phone automatically learned a lot of bad words, I typed in Miss.  On my old 8100 PEARL I just go into the custom dictionary and delete them.  On my 8200 they do not appear in the list at all.

  Show words that I entered manually, but I can't remove words that have been learned by phone.

  The more I use the phone, it becomes more unusable

• Hello from blackBerry Smartphones and SOS: address book cannot be restored via BB Desktop Manager

  I am an absolute techtard who was simply trying to free up memory card space so I can transfer songs on my BB to my iTunes on my Mac and of course fixing a problem leads to another and it really starts to avalanche.

  Would be very grateful if anyone can help, here goes:

  Technical specification:

  Unlocked Pearl 8120, v4.5.0.55 (Platform 2.7.0.68) software, I don't know if this is relevant, but I'm using this in Hong Kong.

  How I messed up:

  1 tried to format media card, but he refuses to let me do if BB is hooked to the Mac or offshore. Also only went the battery.

  2. media checked card: total space is 970 MB and I only left 144KO. Weird because I have a few pictures and notes other than the email service and I just cleaned my cache of box and the browser of sms.

  3. delete unnecessary files: a few photos and memos remain, but they cannot take that much space I think

  4. search through forum discussions: decided to try cleaning the memory.

  5 save address book and address book - all (no idea what the difference is, but all the two doing anyway) on the BB Desktop Manager, saved memos upward as well.

  6. permit the garbage collection. Map of recorded media. Status quo.

  7 checked another forum thread that says I can, and that you should remove "Address book" of garbage collection service.

  8. panic and I tried to remove the 'address book' but it wasn't an option. Decided to clean all other components one by one in the hope to make more room, chose 'Search certificate' and he cleaned my complete address book.

  9 returned to BB Desktop Manager, Contact selected and clicked "restore." At both options i.e. full and partial restoration for the address book and address book - all.

  My directory is always empty.

  Tried to restore my memos too but BB Desktop Manager doesn't show me how do or no results under the help section of return. Mode techtard true, then check my memos - always there. Phew. These are emails and sms - are.

  Obstacles such as a switch office of personnel IT delayed my thanks for your advice... I didn't have any backup and has been quietly sad / happy for a few days for the sudden wipeout so miraculously reappeared all addresses.

  My outgoing HE said guy thanks to my Mac office and Outlook software - it was not very useful and does not specify because it was really flooded in his last days at work. New this GUY was looking to highlight a little so it took me a while to understand how save my address book (BB Gmail and Apple address book) and empty the memory card (multimedia card somehow reformatting tried-tested-guaranteed solution) escaped me.

  So everything is in working order, very much appreciate your advice and IrwinII too! Keep well!
