Block POWER + video card Upgrade - Dell Dimension e521

I was thinking about upgrading my video card to a BFG 8800 GT OC

To do this, he said that I need a minimum of a 425W PSU, so I was thinking a CoolerMaster Extreme Power 500w

But I read everywhere and I saw a few comments from people on how Dell uses not normal size of power supply, I have a problem installing this power supply? In addition, this video card would be great to fit in all this?

Thanks for your help :)

Can I put a GeForce 9800 GT 1 GB hybrid on a Dell Dimension E520? I just bought a 500 watt PSU, so I'm sure that I have enough power, but I'm not sure if it will run on an E520. I don't know if it will take place just because I don't know what is hybrid. But I read that the PCI Express 2.0 x 16 will work on motherboards with just the PCI Express x 16.

    I currently have a GeForce 8600 GT 512 MB.

  • Dell Dimension E521 starts and stops on its own at random times... a lot of attempts to repair/restore without success! What's next!

Well, it's a bit of a long story, so I'll try to make it as short and easy as possible.

My grandmother had the Dell Dimension E521 for some time in December of ' 06.  She had filled the C: drive with a bunch of junk and mandated the bureau with many useless shortcuts.  Later in November 10, she told me he had begun to stop and start on his own time at random, so I tried to do what I could with antivirus scan (AVG Free Edition), remove applications and unnecessary programs and try to demand for system recovery short.  While that makes the computer run faster, it still started and closed on itself.  His house has only the dial-up connection (which is almost impossible to update anything), so I brought it to my house for the best connection around 01/01/11 (9 days ago).

I could update the AVG Free Edition and Windows updates, and it found and cleared, a Trojan Virus.  The Dell still started and shut down on its own.  My next step was to use the disc re - install for Vista Home Basic 32-bit.  He old programs saved in a folder "Windows.old" on the C: drive and completely re-installed everything back to the original.  After I checked in the "Windows.old" folder and recorded something she didn't lose (such as images and videos), I deleted as much as I could out of it.  The only thing I could not remove from it was 4 'driver files '.  For a while the computer trying to run 'chkdsk' on its own seizure began, but froze in the middle of it.  He finally ended the 'chkdsk' once and didn't try again since.  It downloaded and installed updates Windows of 100 or more on its own as well.

After all, it still does the same thing he has with housing starts and shut downs.  The closure of downs occur not just in the middle of the execution of a given program; they occur at any time at random, even if I use the computer in safe mode.  She always goes through the whole stops the process with the "logging off" and "closing" legends, it is not as if the electric system is down.  The start-up occur randomly as well, even if a stop is purposely through the Start Menu or hold down the power button.  Sometimes, he's trying to start and shut down on its own several times without fully load.

Again, sorry this is so long, but I would like to know if there is anything that can be done to get this thing to CUT IT OUT because my grandmother wants as his computer back!

Nope.  Intel chips use different chipsets and different the SB of AMD processor sockets.  If your computer is equipped with an AMD processor you must upgrade with an AMD processor.

  • DELL DIMENSION E521 + Windows 7

Hello everyone - this is my first post!

I have a Dell Dimension e521 that came with Windows XP Professional pre-installed (real key and everything).

I bought this machine of opportunity without hard drives or disks of the driver/operating system. At first I tried using a couple of genuine oem Windows XP Home Edition activation keys that are working flawlessly on other physical machines or virtual, I had. I also had a untouched XP Professional oem drive, which, despite my genuine key did not work.

When I tried to install XP Home OEM on a disk sata hard freshly arrived, I bought off of eBay (I wiped with activekilldisk/dbandiskwipe first) I couldn't go past the window product key during the installation of XP even if the same drive and the same key had been used without fault on my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop among other scenarios (cleaned). I also used the same disk XP Home oem combined with the touch of the inspiron and it worked.

I finally gave up, called Dell Sweden, said that I was not the first owner of the machine, I bought this what and second-hand and they agreed to send me the original disk DELL Windows XP operating system for a small fee. When I used this Dell disc combined with the product key on the computer case, everything worked!

THUS, the question at issue. I want to buy a genuine OEM Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 edition, paste the label of the product key on the top of the Dell case and install this instead of Windows XP Professional. I'll be able to do this, or Windows 7 like XP before him, will stop at the product key/activation step?

On a sidenote: as a prior warning should the original Dell XP disc to get scratched or damaged I recently created an image file with IMGBurn cloned and wrote the backup disk image. Accept my cloned copy or can the machine that's not the original?

    Thank you!

Oh, I also wanted to talk... you said you were trying to install XP Home disks (at least some of them), but you said your license for XP Professional... Pro requires a key Pro and Home requires a key to the House, because they are not interchangeable, nor is a key "greater" good for a lower version (key Pro will not work on the House).

"I really don't understand why the Dell key does not work with an iso-disk of Windows XP Professional without brand." The Dell machine is locked by the key original and original media? Say, original disc destroyed before performing a copy/image. »

XP was VERY picky with his keys.  Everything had to match - channel (VL, OEM, Retail), and each has been given to accept certain keys.  Dell Media wouldn't work on other brands (not 100%, but in general), media HP wouldn't work on other brands (which is true).  The key OEM always and only belongs to the system with which it was SOLD, and it had to be only in the media use it right.  Brand of OEM disks would be auto / auto activate using a generic OEM SLP key integrated into the installation CD.  Generic OEM doesn't have this feature without the system integrator using the generator/Deployment Toolkit to implement.

    (a) Yes, you can use a copy of the installation disc - made repeatedly (fortunately I worry is no longer for XP)

    (b) Yes, you can do a clean Windows 7 install, regardless of the type of media you get; Microsoft designed to use the detail in your situation, not OEM - that's all what I was saying it.

Can someone give me directions as to how can I reset my password without having to re - install my OS again? Thank you.

  • Dimension E510 video card upgrade

    Hello

I apologize if this isn't the place to ask this question, because I'm not too familiar with the forums.

I am currently using a fairly old Dell Dimension E510 system and hoped to upgrade the video card.  I googled under and turned off for a while now, hoping to find an answer today, but most of the results seem to date several years with links to maps is no longer in stock.  Knowing little about video cards, if someone here could offer advice on a replacement that will last me until I have buy a new PC later in the year, I would really appreciate it.

    My system features:

Size of Windows 7 desktop computer E510
Processor Pentium IV - 3.0 GHZ
4 GB of RAM (3.5 usable)
    Power 460 w (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002G1YPHK)
    Radeon X 300/X 550/X 1050 video card (chip Type: Radeon X 600 Pro)

If he has more information required of it, I'd be happy to try to provide it.  I think that the graphics card uses PCI Express, but to be honest, don't really know how to check if it is 1.0 or 2.0 or 2.1 (or what it really means).

With respect to a replacement of the video card, I mean really something sharp.  I imagine that the system he could not handle anyway.  I do a lot of games on the PC.  For most of World of Warcraft, which I would like to run a bit more smoothly.  It would be also nice to watch videos 1080 on YouTube without stutter constantly, but I don't know how much this has to do with the graphics card and how much has to do with her being just a really old computer.

I would like to spend less than $100 to replace, if possible.  As I said, I plan on getting a new machine later in the year, and it's more a stopgap solution until then.  Still, I obviously prefer the best shot for my money.

I was looking on Amazon, but I don't know if they are to be considered:
    -http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Mini-HDMI-Graphics-01G-P3-1526-KR/dp/B00549HZ7S
    -http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-100292DDR3L/dp/B004N3BH0C

The last seems to his price is great, but I know there are problems of compatibility with PCIE 2.1 and do not know if that would come with my system.

Thank you all for reading and for advice, suggestions or any help that you can offer.

    -Joseph

I would forget the last one (HD 5450).  Very low end and not much better considered as the new HD integrated graphics on computers today.  Also, forget the old 9800 GT.  It is not at all sharp.  Version 2.1 is compatible on motherboards 1.0, which is probably what you have.  If you play WOW, I would not go with the GT 520 either because it is very low end for any type of games.  I would watch the HD 6670 if you want something reasonable in cost and will perform well enough for WOW.  Your old Pentium 4 is just holding you back, however.  Here's a couple to watch and I don't think you need to spend more than one.

  • Block power & graphics card help upgrade needed (hpe h8-1120)

1st post, hope I got this thing right (sigh

Question 1: GRAPHICS CARD MINIMUM 3 MONITORS (I HAVE 4 HP W2207h MONITOR)

I just love this box, but... I have 4 monitors, what graphics card should I expect (there is that one slot pcie x 16... budget for the new card is in the card current from 150 to 300 dollars is a gt 530, no second slot for another, can I get with a card with 3 port all of my monitors have dvi and hdmi ports) I'm not too interested in so super high-end cards aren't a real problem for me, it's just something that I can get all monitors talking to this game box, intensive stuff more graphic than I do are photoshop cs5, development web and watching movies.

Question 2: UPGRADE EXISTING PSU 300 to 600 OR MORE.

Power is currently 300 max, I think that I have to maybe twice by that or more.  I don't know who PU fits and has the appropriate cableing etc. searched but could not find anything by announcing the replacement

I'll add another disc and player blue ray of Christmas, I hope...

ANY HELP WOULD BE REALLY APPRECIATED.   HOPING TO HAVE EVERYTHING IN PLACE OF CHRISTMAS.

    ktom,

  • Video card upgraded to Pwr power needs

I recently bought the Pavilion a6857c desktop computer. Found out later that the onboard video Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset does not satisfy my video needs. I bought GTX 285 Nvidia card would be improper because of the location of the SATA cards. They are in the way. SATA 0-5 and 0 and 1 are used by DVD and HD right where'd the vid card. Exchanged for the XFX NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT and found I need new pwr supply. I never did an upgrade of the pwr supply.  Duo Quad Intel running. What are the limits of the motherboard Asus IPIBL-LB Benicia-GL8E? Power current pwr has 4 pwr pin cables, not pin 6 required.

Any suggestions or links would be appreciated

The motherboard is not really the problem. You could improve the food, but probably don't really need. For a 6 pins for the video card, you can simply get a molex (power to drive hard white ide) to the adapter card video pci-e 6 pin. Here's a web page showing one of England, but it gives the idea:

    Adapter

If you want to get a new power supply, it is a simple upgrade; usually 4 screws hold the power supply to the case and you just remove the screws, drop the power supply, disconnect the connections, replace with new PSU connectors (one by one so everything's in the right place) and bolt the new one in place.

You can spend silly money for a power supply, but the best is to go to newegg.com and do some comparison shopping. Personally, I like Antec power supplies but it is a matter of taste, really. ANTECs are widely sold in the same office business as Staples. A power 500 w is probably all that you really need to and more or less no matter what else you buy directly in a box will have all the connectors you need.

  • Pavilion p7 - 1226 s video card upgrade

    Summary:

I want to improve my system with the highest rated PassMark reference video card that my system will support with my current 300W power supply.

    Details:

I bought a new Pavilion p7 - 1226 s last month with the intention of upgrading the system with more memory, another hard drive internal and a new card video - over time. I'm not a power user; I just want to keep my skills in the game with these actions.

The last system I upgraded has been focused on the PCI so I was excited about the capabilities of PCI-E 2.0 of this system for the video upgrade. I considered the 300W PSU to be of sufficient size to allow a decent upgrade. I went to Nvidia.

I believe that the integrated video (HD 2000?) in my system of registers somewhere between 245 and 375 refers.

The Geforce GT 430 and 440 again specify a power of 300W. Their notes are respectively 667 and 830.

I wonder if my system will support these cards.  So, I write this way. If it is not, my question then becomes "what video card my system will support? Double width would be perfect. There seems to be a lot of physical space of the card.

I think that most video cards specify not only power but rated current. These current ratings can be anywhere from 12 to 22 amps at 12 volts amps. I was also unsuccessful in discovering what could be the p7 power supply 12V rated current.

I searched this forum briefly and I am impressed with many of the answers. I know there are some really smart people out there who can help me. Thank you in advance.

My target price on sale at Fry Electronics is about $75. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. Thanks again

    Hello

The amperages are additive for the dimensioning of power which only has some relationship to what the video card needs.  Video card manufacturers want to head because they don't really know how everyone PC is configured and just how hard the graphics card will be used.

I change this link for the HP of the above items. I was never in this place so I do not know how the address was mutilated.

Also far than the 545 NVIDIA goes, stick with the card HP as it is designed for a 300 Watt power supply.  I suspect that the retail sector 545 work but safe, stick with the HP 545.

  • HP Pavilion p6505f video card upgrade

I couldn't find another post for this model, so I create a new one to ask for help.

My mom has a HP Pavilion p6505f I want to upgrade for it, specifically the video card. She recently bought. It seems that the power supply is only 250watts, so I guess that will have to be upgraded. I need the machine to be able to play WoW at a decent rate. I am interested if anyone has recommendations on a good video card for the power of this system and recommendations (will fit a generic, or what I should order from HP? and what power range should I aim for, 500 +?). The computer came with a lot of RAM (4 GB) and a lot of space (1 to).

    Thanks for any help!

A standard ATX power supply should work.

You need to open your PC and measure the physical dimensions of your diet.  Here is a list of the things to consider:

    1. Specifications
    2. Total power - important
    3. amperage 12 + v - important
    4. Modular - is not required, but I like the flexibility
    5. Warranty
    6. I7 and SLI ready
    7. Efficiency rating
    8. Cost
    9. The physical size - standard ATX PSU is 5.5 "by 5.9" by 3.4 "give or take a few tenths

www.Newegg.com has many choices of power supplies.  Corsair, OCZ, Rosewill, Thermaltake...

Of Corsair HX Series is a good choice.  I prefer NVIDIA 4xx because the card is only 8.25 inches long.

Review the specifications of performance ATI and NVIDIA . Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

How to replace a power supply.

How to replace a video card.

I bought the Corsair HX 650 and installed will detect a problem.  I am also using the NVIDIA GTX 460 w/256 bit memory interface.

  • Choice of Aurora R1 video card upgrade

I have what I believe to be the original Aurora (R1), purchased late 2009 directly from Dell.  I had some problems lately with the blockages, especially during the game.  I replace food due to some other strange blocks, but this is as good as another to also upgrade the video card.  The motherboard is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 295.  I found a list of cards that are compatible with my installation on this forum, but they stop at the GeForce GTX590 which is no longer available.  Are there maps available that are compatible with my motherboard?

    Egan70

Yes, the PS of 875 w.  I have a GTX 295-it takes two bays, but has only a single PCI-E connector.  Who is considered as 'double' or 'single '?

I believe my MB PCI-E 2.0 - one PCI - E 3.0 works always (less taking advantage of the new features)?

Yes, a single 295 is a single card (it takes just 2 locations... do most good maps).
Yes, use a PCIe v3.0 card works perfectly in a PCIe 2.0 MB.
  • An R2 of Alienware X 51 video card upgrade

So I thought about upgrading my videocard alienware x 51 but I just need some help, I was wondering if this card could work on my system

    My current features are:

    Intel i5 - 4430 CUP @3.00 GHz

    GeForce GTX 645

My diet is the 240w, but I'm honestly not sure if it could be 330w that I bought the computer some time ago and reinstalled windows. I don't know exactly where to check the watts well. :/

but the card, I was told to buy this card

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Mini ITX overclocked to 4GB GDDR5 PCiE video card GV-N970IXOC-4GD

So I was wondering if this card will work with my computer, thanks in advance

You should look at reference GPU. Examples below.

PNY, ASUS, MSI, EVGA, etc. (you can google for the rest).

My vote goes to the PNY GTX 970.

You have the PSU 240w with you that 330w POWER supply was only for the 660, 670 GTX GTX / GTX 760 ti GTX 960 and R9 270 (x). You should not for the GTX 970 330w POWER supply. You can buy a Dell or newegg.

  • Update video card in Dell C521

I have a Dell Dimension C521, a mini-tower computer.  Some of the most important features are:

    AMD Athlon 64 X 2 4000 + 2.1 GHZ.

    2 GB of RAM

    DVD/CD burner

    NVidia 8600 GT

    320 GB HD

I have not installed additional all things (cards TV, etc.).   So my question is: can I upgrade my graphics card to the Galaxy 9600 GT low profile card? : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162016

The minimum power necessary for this card is a 400 watt POWER supply. My current diet is 280 watts. The 9600 also requires a PCIe 6-pin power adapter. I did not, but I don't have a free molex power cable. Can I use an adapter to go from molex to 6-pin? My diet will be able to cope with this card? I would like to have all the answers.

    Thank you

  • The HP ENVY h8-1500z with a new video card upgrade

    Hello

My current video card is a 1 GB of Nvidia that came with the installer and requires more power.  I want to upgrade the video card for this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131562) this map requires power and this kind of care.

I opened my PC and it looks like the current power is 300W, but I do not see a card for a video about this card. My question is: Y at - it sort of an adapter I can use with existing PS? If I need to exchange the PS, can I use any power supply in this PC? It will be (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139050) to adapt and work? If not, what suggestions do you have?

    Thanks for the help.

Wanted to add that I am running:

    6-core AMD FX 6120 to 3.50 Ghz

    14 GB of RAM

    64-bit OS Win Pro 8.1

    NVidia GeForce GT 620

The graphics card, you want to install on your computer requires a minimum of 500 watts power. The Corsair CX500M that you access will work for your computer and work with your desired graphics card.
