  I read a few chapters on the extension of component (using the EXTENDS attribute in the CFPROPERTY tag) but something isn't clicking; I'm looking on the forums for some additional info that will help me to have a eureka moment and understand.

  In preface, I have what I would call, an intermediate knowledge of CF (working towards the tip).  So if we can keep the explanations in simple terms as much as possible, it would be appreciated and useful.

  To my knowledge, if you have a component, you can make its variables in THIS scope and its methods available to other components if those components have an EXTENDS attribute in the CFPROPERTY tag that uses a full path point rating to the component 'extended-of ".

  I tried to put it into practice by making a master.cfc and Captain slave.cfc is located next to the root in a folder named "www".  The slave is located next to the root at the site: "www/app/comments.  In the slave.cfc component so I wrote:

It's been a week now.  Services are all started and set to automatic.  The SFC/scannow found a couple of problems and repair the.  I'm stuck at just patches and more, the only updates since I installed SP2 manually.  Clean boots did not help.  Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Firewall..., or not, does not make a difference.  This on a Toshiba laptop, and I did a complete re-install, including erasing the hard drive.  No malicious software is on this - I checked.

  I'm exhausted with this!  I have to re - install, once again?  I have to solve this, because when I return to my client, it is on dial-up (I know, weird but true) and it will mess up other things, if it is electronic control, which is what she's doing online.  I could turn off the automatic updates, but do not really want to.
