Boot m200 from an external CD / DVD / Combo / fdd

I have read several forums regarding the prosess of m200 start-up, but I'm still not clear abt what to do. I have an ext usb samsung and BenQ ext usb combo floppy drive, but none of them r able to boot my tablet. Can anyone here help me. I need to know how to start my number of these devices and if this is not possible, what to do. Any other usb drive will work, any other pcmcia device? Please guide.

Hello

If you want to reinstall the operating system, you must use external CD or DVD device. Is very important that this external device is recognized by NB and good driver should be installed. For this you can use the external floppy drive. Do you have a?

I wanted to change the boot sequence to boot from external DVD drive to install Win8. To access the BIOS I hit Enter (empty password I guess) but in the BIOS everything is grey: I can't make changes. What is going on?

    @kaja69...

Rich said, you have a set supervisor password and Jin Li said, there is no default password.

For more information on the different passwords at the BIOS level, please consult your T430s Hardware Maintenance Manual (manuals pages 36-38).

  • Portege R100 - boot from the external HARD drive

I have a Portege R100 and the HARD drive has failed. I installed a new HARD drive and I have the Toshiba recovery disks. I tried to boot from a generic USB CD-ROM but the laptop did not recognize.

I have a disk of Toshiba USB drive it does not recognize and I have a restore disc but I don't know how from there. Do I have to buy a CD external Toshiba and if so, which?
    Any useful suggestions?

    Hello

Boot from the external USB CD/DVD drive is not possible.
You will also be able to boot from USB HDD!

If you want to boot from the CD, you must use a compatible PCMCIA cards (16-bit and 32-bit Cardbus) CD/DVD drive.

  • Dell Latitude 10 ST2e compressed can not boot from an external USB optical drive

Dell Latitude 10 ST2e compressed can not boot from an external optical drive USB (CD/DVD)

The BIOS has no setting for it. It will boot from a flash drive. I would like to boot from my CD of 2013 Acronis Recovery Console.  Anyone have any success to boot from a CD/DVD USB drive?

Yes, there is a way to do this.

I just did this to install Windows 10 from a DVD on a tablet of 10 Latitude by following these steps:
(Note: my version of BIOS is A08)

    1. turn off the 10 latitude power.
    2. attach a USB hub to the USB slot unique on the side of the tablet.
    3. fix a keyboard and an external USB CD drive to the USB hub.
    4. now press the button down on the side of the Tablet and simultaneously press the power button for 5 seconds (until see you the screen light up, but will be weak against black unlit).
    5. When you see the Dell logo, start typing on the F12 key (the lower right corner shows the option press the F12 key to choose single startup options)
    6. now start choosing appear with many options to choose from, including my CD/DVD drive.

Hope it will be useful to you.

  • Of failure, white screen MacBook Pro HARD drive try to boot from the external HARD drive

    Hello

I have a 2008 Macbook Pro which is having some problems, I was able to fix them, but eventually the hard drive failed. I know that because at startup until it would have a white screen Uni (no logo) and you can hear a clicking on in the lower left corner. I thought initially it was a memory problem, but after opening and verification of memory, it's clearly the hard drive.

I solved this problem temporarily (until I can replace the HARD disk) by installing El captain on an external HARD disc and start from that. Here's the twist, I couldn't he can begin to El captain, I tried CMD + R, CMD + OPT + R, CMD + OPT + R + P and now shift. Everything that's happened would be that clicks would cease to release the keys.

I left the macbook on while I'm at work, when I got home it was on the screen to connect the external HARD drive.

I accidentally closed the macbook yesterday and again once when I tried to log on, I could not and I left it on a white screen while I was sleeping. There is a possibility that he may have launched from the HARD drive when I get home, but if not, is there something that escapes me to force do this?

    See you soon

Usually start up to a blank screen without the Apple Logo, may report one of the following:

    • Hardware failure
    • Boot drive is not recognized as valid and updated updated
    • OS X essential software is missing, hurt moved or renamed or corrupt
    • A firmware update is necessary

No matter who, in order to boot from an external drive "bootable", you would normally hold down the Option key until you get a screen that offers a number of devices to try to boot from.

Alternatively, you can try holding down the C key to try to boot from the external drive.

If none of these startup options work, then the bootable disc or the USB port on your MacBook Pro can be the question.

Since you have a Mac pre-2013, if you hold down the D key while booting, the built-in Apple Hardware Test should start up.  This can help to identify hardware problems.

  • My iMac can boot from an external drive?

    Hello

I have an iMac 21.5 "Mid 2010 which starts to show its age with slowness. However, I plan to upgrade the Basic 4 GB of Ram either 8 GB or 16 GB of Ram, depending on price... and my main question.  I know that the Mac came initially with a 500 GB hard drive and I would also like to upgrade to an SSD because they make a world of difference from what I've heard, but I don't have the level of skill tech to do the steps together 20-30. I wonder, as I have a 1 TB USB SSD externally, if I could install a new version of Mac OS X on the SSD USB and then set it as my boot drive and just keep still plugged. Would this work or startup disk must be internal rather than external via USB?

Your iMac can be set to boot from an external drive. Just install OS X on the SSD and SSD drive as your boot disk in System-> startup disk Preferences.

  • Satellite NB10t-A-101 refuses to boot from any external media

I just bought a NB10t to the United Kingdom and try to boot to a bootable USB key

I noticed that the BIOS on this particular model is UEFI mode only, which, in itself, is not a problem because users can sign their own operating systems with a certification authority and use them, but this laptop refuses to boot from any external environment... or even to provide an error message.

I changed boot priority in the BIOS and USB moved up
I disabled the Secure Boot option in the BIOS
I tried all 3 USB ports as well as 3 different drives (NOTE: THESE WORK FINE ON the 3 OTHER SYSTEMS, a dell desktop/laptop computer and a computer acer laptop)
I also tried different distributions (Debian & Arch)
I used several installation methods (hard install of Unetbootin/Full/Rufus etc...)
I tried all your currently released BIOS versions (delivery with V1.0, V1.1 - Jan Feb - V1.2)

After trying all these when you press F12 at startup, the shows start menu but when you select a device, the system continues to initiate (Win8) HARD drive

After Googling around, I noticed that you have unlocked 2 BIOS updates I tried all versions of these and still the system refuses to boot in my selected device

Can we expect more updates of the firmware in the near future? Is there a way to work around this problem to start my chosen OS? Is there an option of CSM?

    Edit: punctuation

    null

    Hello

Your laptop was equipped with the new processor Intel Celeron 2810 n that belongs to the Bay Trail-M architecture.
This new * Intel Bay Trail * technology is only supported systems that support UEFI and systems (Win 8, 8.1 Win) and, therefore, the UEFI / CSM boot mode option isn't available in the BIOS settings.

_So you can install only a system capable of UEFI
