Brushes of Lightroom?

Hello

I am new to Lightroom and I cannot understand what exactly is the difference between the brushes.

In photoshop, for example, a brush can be used to create forms / models / masking / adjustments etc, so I can understand the need for different multiples in the form of brushes.

I've seen sites selling brushes of Lightroom, and so-called "Brush face", for example "Teeth whitening brush", "Marriage Brush", "HDR Brush" etc etc.

However, all these brushes seem to be the same (circular), so I don't understand why it takes more than 1 brush?

I hope you understand where I come from on this dilemma.

Could someone please explain in simple terms, exactly why some brushes are described as being for certain tasks, if they are all the same?

Thank you all in advance for any help you can give me

Lightroom already has a number of built-in brush pre-sets. If you select the adjustment Brush tool, simply click on the drop down to the right of the effect of the speech. Consider parameters suggested cursor for certain tasks, but you are free to twist them or create your own custom settings.

How to increase or decrease the effect of an adjustment brush in Lightroom CC? In Lightroom 5, I could hover over the PIN and drag the two-way arrow left or right. This feature seems to have disappeared in the CC version.

I'll answer one of your three messages that asked this question.  If possible, please remove the other two.

Hover and dragging moves the axis as it should.  The cursor turns into a hand to indicate the area brushed, it moves.

Hover over the pin code, press the Alt/Opt key and drag left and right and the effect will become less and more.   The cursor turns into a two-headed arrow to indicate that the function of the drag has changed.  If you are not hovering over a pin code and press the Alt/Opt, then the cursor turns into a brush to erase to remove the adjustment every time you paint.

  • How the brushes in lightroom 3 adjustment can be fixed?

I have no idea how it works.  The adjustment brush in lightroom 3 has stopped working.  Using a mac.  Customer support said that if I pay $39, they might be able to solve the problem, but its better to ask on the forums.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Try this:

Go to the Edit/Preferences menu. Click the Presets tab. Then click on the button "Restore Local adjustment presets":

  • Adjustment of brush settings Lightroom preset full unless

When I opened the Lightroom adjustment brush, the first five settings (exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, and clarity) are all pre-set at the least.  Automask is not verified.  How can I start to neutral? I'm on a MacBook Pro, in LR 5.7.1.  Thank you!

Check your density and parameters of flow in the adjustment brush. You could fix weak as well.

  • Cannot add other changes by using the adjustment brush in Lightroom 5.

Use Lightroom 5 - when I go to a previously published picture to do more to change by using the adjustment brush, I opened the effect I want to use (Dodge, for example), but all of the sliders are inoperative. The word "Dodge (Edited)" appears in the header of effects. This is why I can not make any further changes to the image. I open the drop down menu effects and ticked 'restore default presets', but nothing helped. All welcome solutions.

Make sure that the flow and the density are not set to 0 or another low value. Try setting the two to 100.

Just using the adjustment brush in Lightroom 5 on a picture and suddenly the circles brush missing lmao! Cannot find anywhere to return, thought that maybe I hit a button accidentally turning off or something. All I get is the mouse cursor while I use the brush, but I have no idea how the brush is large or where the hell the brush is used! Trying to close the Application and restart as you do, and nothing changes, still no brush.

  • Incompatible Lightroom adjustment brush with Camera Raw

I love Lightroom's adjustment brush, but I find it annoying that I can't use it to make saturation all the way in monochrome, even with the cursor of saturation completely rejected. Today, I noticed that in Camera Raw 5.4, the same is NOT true - you can remove color completely with an adjustment brush.

Surprised at this difference, I wondered what would happen when I loaded the file ACR corrected in Lightroom. And now Lightroom showed the result of the adjustment brush the same way as ACR, with all the colors removed. Excellent!

But what will happen if I changed the adjustment brush in Lightroom? He "forgets" what I had done in ACR and restore its normal behavior? No, he continued to behave as it had done in ACR. But in the same photo, a brush created in Lightroom does not have the same way. Obviously, it was something to do with what program created the brush.

Then I took a glance to my XMP file, and it became (slightly) clearly what is happening. It is one of the XMP attributes for the brush created in ACR:

    < crs:MaskValue > 1.000000 < / crs:MaskValue >

And here's the same attribute for the brush created in Lightroom:

    < crs:MaskValue > 0.375000 < / crs:MaskValue >

The next question is obvious, what happens if you replace MaskValue with 0.375000 1.000000? Answer: The brush begins to behave like a brush in ACR.

Now, it's kind of cool. I can get the behavior I want in Lightroom, by editing the XMP file by hand. On the other hand, the editing XMP files isn't really my favorite thing. Is there some settings in Lightroom that allows to reach a MaskValue 1.000000 for adjustment brushes? I couldn't find one, but well, there are a lot of settings...

In Camera Raw and Lightroom, the value of the mask is determined by the setting of cursor y density. Therefore, when there is a difference between the two, it is certainly because the cursor of the density defined differently. In your case, one is set to 100 and the other 37.5. Do both the same and the effect of the brush must be identical.

Edit: as mentioned in Jao - flow will also affect mask value

  • Lightroom settings settings lost after edit in Photoshop

    Hello

I've been using Lightroom for a few weeks now. Recently, I came across a problem which seems to bother me more and more each time.

Here is an example of my workflow that illustrates my problem.

    1. I opened my. NAVE in Lightroom files

    2. I make some adjustments

    3. I open the photo adjusted in Photoshop.

    4. I use the healing spot, pen tool, tool etc.

    5. I save the file and return to Lightroom.

6 Lightroom create a .tif with changes to PS file.

    7. open the new file with PS edit in LR develop mode

    8. my initial settings of the LR disappeared. The changes are visible, but the settings have disappeared. For example, I have used the adjustment brush for the face for very precise adjustments, now these settings have disappeared.

For example, if I used the adjustment brush on the face, go to photoshop, make some changes, go back to lightroom and realized I'm not happy with the original settings on the face, the settings are gone. So I have to make the adjustments back into the original file from lightroom and make the same changes to the PS or I must again select the specific area by using the adjustment brush in lightroom. These can be a big hassle if I have to go back between photoshop and lightroom.

Is it possible for me to maintain my setting when switching from photoshop to lightroom?

Which option you are using when send you the image to Photoshop?

I see that it works as expected. It was created a new copy of the image with all the settings you have made before LR. This file was opened in Photoshop. When you came back to LR you have a photo with all the settings you made first in LR and PS. But you can never change the LR settings on this picture more.

  • Problems with Lightroom

    Hello

I have problems with Lightroom (I do not have Photoshop) for a few weeks and it's worse and worse. Lightroom is so slow that any work is impossible; It takes several seconds to display a picture and many others to zoom. Other features of lightroom are almost impossible to do.

Whenever I left lightroom, you receive the following message:

"adobe media core.0 has stopped working".

No idea what it is... I don't know if the 2 problems are related.

I tried to uninstall Lightroom and reinstall... Quite useful!

My computer has 4 GB of RAM; I tried to move to 8 GB, but it makes no difference.

My graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (PCIe/SSE2) and I have installed the latest driver; I tried to disable the use of the graphics card (in the Lightroom preferences).

I have enough HARD disk space...

    Please, help me!

    Thanks in advance.

A lot of brushing causes these slowdowns. Your processor is a little old and slow by today's standards. I'm not surprised that you encounter these problems, especially as the pictures got bigger over the years, and yours are now 24 megapixels.

As an experiment, you might want to try to create a new catalog, take pictures of 10 or 12 that have no real value, they will only be used for the experience, import these 10 or 12 in the new catalogue and then do all your editing, but don't do any brushing. Lightroom is faster?

Doing a lot of brushing up on an image using Lightroom is known to have this problem. The first thing to try is to turn off the graphics acceleration (go to Preferences/Performance tab and then uncheck the box here). IF this does not help, then you can consider doing your brush in Photoshop Elements or Photoshop, instead of brushing in Lightroom.

  • Adjustment brush works incorrectly between certain values of the brush size

I am running Windows 7 64 bit on my PC with Lightroom 4.4.  When I resize my adjustment brush cursor by using the wheel of scrolling between certain values the brush cursor changes shape to the usual circular slider for a semicircular slider crushed. Below certain levels, the brush changes from the circular single slider to two small sliders and values less than four small sliders.  Can anyone help. My usual mouse is a Dell USB with scroll wheel and my keyboard is a Microsoft multimedia keyboard.

I tried the following to any available-

    Re starting lightroom

Check the BIOS to USB mouse is on

    I've tried different mouse (manufacturers)

    Any suggestion would be appreciated

    Hi snowynorman,

Could you please share a screenshot of your adjustment brush in Lightroom?

Usually, two circles appear when you have a good pen of value.

In addition, suggest you try to change the size of the brush manually via the cursor or up and down arrow keys on your keyboard to check if you still see this type of behavior.

    Kind regards

  • The button "DONE" Lightroom 3 is missing?

Somehow my button "DONE" disappeared when using my brush in Lightroom 3. Does anyone have a solution?

  • Still no brush in the gradient filter?

I expect that when an upgrade real x.x for Lightroom 5 became available would catch up to all ACR features. The brush to remove or mitigate the areas in the gradient filter is a real help. I was really hoping to see that in Lightroom 5.7.

I guess that we will have the brush in Lightroom 6. But that's only a guess. If you are on the CC photography program there are workaround in the meantime. You can apply the adjustment gradient using Lightroom. Then open the image in Photoshop as a smart object. If you open the image in Camera Raw and choose the gradient filter, you can see the pins and select them. Then you can apply to the brush. It works with the radial filter as well. Note that this will not work with Camera Raw as a filter. He really need to open the image in Camera Raw to do this.

  • brushes Photoshop rows and stops after the update to Yosemite

After update to Yosemite, whenever I use the brush or tool Eraser, it stops or lags (I don't know what to call it).

What happens is I can't hit the other shortcuts like '[' keys to increase the size of the brush, and even changing tools like pressing 'V', but if I click the icon it will be recovered.

I checked the history panel, it stops there.
