BSD with stop n - stop: 0x0000008e

I'm trying to help a family member (who lives about 500 miles) with the BSD problem.

System: Dell XPS 400/Dimension 9150

OS: Windows 7 32 bitSP1 all the MS Updates installed to

Processor: Intel (R) Pentium (r) D CPU 3.00 GHz 2.99 GHz

Memory: 2 GB

No new hardware or software installed on the system in more than a year.

the system worked very well on Friday afternoon (we Skyped in the afternoon).  At one time given in the evening, the computer has restarted, and when she came back to the top when the BSD has appeared, so it started again but the BSD is back, BSD error code:

Stop: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x831b1487, 0xa22ff754, 0x00000000)

He was able to start safe mode and run MSE (although only the quick scan, it will do full scan tonight), ran Malwarebytes (who is 2 and removed 2 Trojan horses, I don't know what they were).  always get the BSD.  He also did a restore of the system to the standby, always of BSD.

(there are two computers in this House that they are exactly the same, they were purchased from Dell on the same day, the system configuration is exactly the same) This morning with my help by phone I had him remove the memory of BSD system and successor of the other system memory and still not received the BSD, put the system memory which becomes the BSD in the system that works very well and the memory works fine.

Did go to MSCONFIG (in Safe Mode) and disable all programs at first upward and restarted the computer, yet the BSD appeared, (reset programs MSCONFIG to what it was, should not be allowed to one at a time since it BSD on the first restart).

Start the system with the last know good and even BSD.

Conducted a search to see if there was a newer version of the video driver for the video card, that there, Windows said that he had the current version

Has taken the video card in the system of work and put it in the BSD, always the BSD system.

Uninstalled the video player and had Win7 get new equipment and he did not find the video card.  :(

I had him restore the system to last Friday, when the restoration was finished, he got further into the boot process where his office however shortly after the office came the BSD returned.

I'm at a lost time what to do, any suggestions as to what we can then try?  If there is any information that is needed to help with this, please ask away and I'll get the answer as soon as I can and post it.

Thank you very much!

Robin

SprintX thank you very much for your answers to my question.  We have solved the problem and it was a ROOTKIT Virus.  I was so taken with the STOP error code that I did not notice the last line on the blue screen, it says ATAPORT.sys with a bunch of numbers and datestamp so I looked and was one of the first things that came to this Web page:
http://joeyiodice.com/ataport-sys-bsod-virus-fix .  Family of malware ROOTKIT possibly from the Rootkit.Win32.TDSS.  Family member made the process that is described and the system came back upward without having a BSD and we Skyped even.  Thanks again for your help on this issue.

Without more information, we can only speculate...

If this happens whenever you watch a video, it's a good clue that the problem could be in your audio or video configuration, then you should start looking there.  Then, if you make adjustments, you can check your known failure scenario (watching a video) and see if the problem is resolved.

These are the same questions I ask everyone who has a BSOD problem:

Please provide additional information on your system, and we have all this and much more.
What is your system brand and model?
What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?
Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..
The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)
The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?
You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?
Your system seems to start OK and then crash or didn't he start not at all?
If your system works fine, what do you think might have changed since the last time it worked correctly?
Can you make the system crash when you want
?  For example, you would say that there is no specific system activity that coincides with the accidents (like watching videos, playing games, etc.).
The next time your system crashes, provide more information on what you see.
Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:
Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).
Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.
If there is a name of the file listed in the STOP message, don't forget to include this information too.
Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you.  We know what a BSOD looks like, we need to know what your BSOD looks like.
Now provide more information about your system and data against more recent accidents.
Click Start, run and enter in the box:
    Msinfo32
Click on OK and when the system info summary appears, click on Edition, select all, copy, and then paste the information here.
For information about video drivers, expand components, click view, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information here.

For information about the audio drivers, expand components, click Sound Device, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information here.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.
This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.
    Download BlueScreenView here:
Unzip it and run it (BSV installs nothing) and let him complete the digitization of all your crash dump files.
If you double-click on depressed, you will get information on it (including the field caused by the driver) and you should be able to spot the problem right away - especially if you see a model in landfills where Caused by field pilot is the same (beginning with this driver).
Select (highlight) one or more of the most recent dump files by clicking on them and hold down the CTRL key to select multiple files.  Try to select only the most recent links that relate to your problem (perhaps five or six to start dump files).
Click on file, save selected items and save information from the dumps to a text file on your desktop called BSOD.txt
.  Open BSOD.txt with a text editor, copy the text and paste it in your next reply.
Here's an example of report ASB to a single BSOD I initiated on purpose that indicates the cause of the accident as the pilot i8042prt.sys belonging to Microsoft Corporation:

  • Satellite 2410-404: blue screen STOP: 0x0000008E TVALD. SYS

    Hello
last night I tried the WinXP "verifier.exe" tool to check unverified in WinXP drivers.
My system worked very well until this try. After the first reboot, the system load until the home screen where I choose my account (Administrator rights) to load my profile. After the boot process slows down upwards, only windows processes are shown in the lower right bar (icon of sound system, network) and after a while, there is a blue screen with the following information:

    STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0XF89A742C, 0XF3DFDB50, 0X00000000)
TVALD. SYS - address F89A742C base at F89A7000, DateStamp 3b7caa6c

    and the system stops.

Please help how to deal with this error, the tvald.sys is a Toshiba system file in the system32 directory.
I have the Toshiba recovery cd, but I have half a month of accounting files that is not registered so I need urgently a fix where I do not format the hard drive.

    Thanks for any help
    Alex

    You are right;
The TVALD. SYS seems to be a Toshiba ACPI-Based value added logical device driver that is required to run the stable notebook.
It looks like these files has been has not signed with a certificate from a trusted windows source and therefore the tool of Windows XP "verifier.exe" locked or deleted. (I put t know exactly what verifier.exe)

I put t know if you were able to solve this problem without using the Toshiba Recovery CD :(
The TVALD. SYS seems to be stored in
    windows\ system32\ drivers\ tvald.sys c:\

    and in the registry here:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SYSTEM-CurrentControlSet-Services-TVALD

However, in my opinion the verifier.exe tool should be removed and the settings must be reset!
In this case, you can use the XP System Restore tool!
    That's all I can suggest

    Cause

Bug KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED control is a very common bug control. To interpret it, you must identify which exception has been generated.

    Common exception codes are:

    • 0 x 80000002: STATUS_DATATYPE_MISALIGNMENT indicates that an unaligned data reference was encountered.

    • 0 x 80000003: STATUS_BREAKPOINT indicates that a breakpoint or ASSERTION was met when no kernel debugger was attached to the system.

    • 0xc0000005: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION indicates that a memory access violation has occurred.

    Solve the problem

If you do not have to debug this problem, you must use certain basic troubleshooting techniques:

Make sure you have enough disk space.

    • If a driver is identified in the bug check message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.
    • Try changing video cards.
    • Check with your hardware vendor for updates to the BIOS.
    • Disable the BIOS memory options such as implementing caching or shading.

If you plan to debug this problem, you may find it difficult to get a stack trace. Parameter 2 (the address of the exception) should identify the driver or function that caused the problem.

If you do not know the specific cause of the exception, consider the following:

    • Hardware incompatibility. Ensure that all new equipment installed is listed in the list of the products tested Microsoft Windows market.
    • Service driver or defective peripheral system. A chauffeur service or defective peripheral system could be responsible for this error. The hardware problems, such as BIOS incompatibilities, conflicts of memory and IRQ conflicts can also generate this error.

If the verification of the message bug list a driver by name, disable or remove that driver. In addition, disable or remove drivers or services that have been recently added. If the error occurs during the startup sequence and the system partition is formatted with the NTFS file system, you may be able to use Safe Mode to rename or to delete the faulty driver. If the driver is used as part of the start-up procedure of the system Safe Mode, you must start the computer by using the Recovery Console to access the file.

If the problem is associated with Win32k.sys, the source of the error may be a third-party remote control program. If this software is installed, you can remove the system startup service using the recovery and then Console by removing the offending system service file.

Check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the device or driver responsible for control of bug 0x1E. You can disable the cache in memory of the BIOS to try to resolve the error. You must also run the diagnostics of material, especially the scanner memory, which provides the manufacturer of the system. For more information about these procedures, see the manual of your computer.

The error that generates this message may occur after the first reboot during Windows Setup, or after installation is complete. A possible cause of the error is lack of disk space for installation and the system BIOS incompatibilities. For any problems during the installation of Windows that are associated with lack of disk space, reduce the number of files on the hard disk drive target. Search and delete temporary files that you do not have to have, files hidden Internet, application backup files and files saved.chk, which contain fragments of files on disk scans. You can also use an another hard disk drive with more free space for the installation.

You can solve the problems of BIOS by upgrading the version of the system BIOS

You are better able to tell us if the problem is resolved.  Continue to run Malwarebytes about once a week.  If the BSOD ceased and MBAM does not show any other infection, you're probably good.

  • Blue screen... STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xBF8B6C11, 0xA9538368, 0x00000000) win32k.sys - address BF8B6C11 base address BF800000 DateStamp 4C7d06ce

I have a Dimension 3000 bought in 2005, upgraded to 2 GB of RAM.

I recently implemented almost from scratch, because Opera program and profile would be repeatedly corrupted, making me lose the email. (This reappeared even after reinstall opera clean, do not use old messages or other profile files). Therefore, I restored a backup of the C: partition Ghost (there are others for my data and downloads) I did shortly after the purchase, after which I had installed only Ghost and two games (I uninstalled the games). I installed SP3 and ran Microsoft Update. I was trying to reinstall other programs that I use now. It's Rhapsody; one of my kids 'synchronize' a player MP3 Sansa Fuze with Rhapsody.

A few days ago when closing Internet Explorer, I got a message that should be closed and I could send a report to Microsoft. It is also used to happen before, from time to time.

Then, more recently, when I closed Rhapsody, I got a blue screen with a message that there was a problem. He said I could try to change some settings in the BIOS. I remember what happens before I restored the ghost of 2005 BU. I looked in the BIOS and not able to find the parameters referred to in (something like memory cache). I wish it were possible to print these messages on a blue screen. I didn't copy the entire message, but I write these references:

    STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0XBF8B6C11, 0XA9538368, 0X00000000)

    Win32k.sys - address BF8B6C11 base address BF800000 DateStamp 4C7d06ce

This means almost nothing to me. I hope that someone on the forum knows what this means and can suggest what could be the problem.

So far, I have not had more wrong with Opera, so there may be two distinct problems. OTOH, I reinstalled only Opera on 10/12/10; I can still have problems with it.

    Hello

Here is more information on the bug 0x8E control: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945658/

The 0x8E KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED can be caused by a faulty service/driver, damaged hard drive or defective display card not enough space, or memory, Hardware/software incompatibility and third-party remote control software. So to get started:

    1. test your memory. Run Memtest you can download from http://www.memtest.org/#downiso. Download the ZIP file, extract the ISO and write on CD. Once written to CD, boot your PC with the CD and run Memtest. Allow the test to run by at least 3 passes or until it gives errors. If you have more than 1 memory module, run the test on each module separately. Try running Memtest from a cold - start unplug your PC for an hour to cool down, then immediately run memtest again when you next turn on the. This way memtest will run when the memory is cool and after the 3rd pass when the memory is hottest.

    2. update your display driver. Reference Dell seems to have highlighted 3 different models of Dimension 3000 and so there is 3 different Intel display drivers. See if you can find an updated driver on the Intel Web site. If you use a graphics add-on card try to find an updated driver from the manufacturer's website. If you have any trouble finding a driver let us know what brand and model of graphics card you have.

    3. update the Rhapsody software. (I think it's the software you using http://www.rhapsody.com/-software ?). If it's Rhapsody software I think it seems to integrate into your Web browser and it's perhaps why Opera and now IE are mistakes? You can uninstall Rhapsody for a while just to see if it is the reason for your BSOD.

    4. when the 0x8E BSOD is caused by win32k.sys, yours, is it then possible, it is caused by control software remote third. It can include programs such as VNC, PCAnywhere, etc. of Teamviewer, RAdmin.  If you use one of these programs, uninstall it and see if the PC stops mistakes.

5 run a scan on your hard drive. You can check your hard disk for errors by going toStart ->Run -> type chkdsk c: /r -> clickOk . When asked if you want to force a sayNodisassembly. When asked to plan the audit at the next startup, Yes. Reboot your PC to allow running chkdsk.

Alternatively, you can run a diagnostic on your hard drive. This by downloading the diagnostic program from your hard disk manufacturer. A list of manufacturers and their diagnostic tools can be found here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287. Once more, download the ZIP file, extract the ISO and write to CD. A time written on CD, boot your PC with the CD and run the test Advanced/extended.

Also make sure you have enough hard disk space. It is always recommended, if possible, to have at least 15% of your free hard disk capacity.

    6. Finally, take a look in your event viewer when the BSOD for possible errors. You want to look especially in the system and Application logs (and maybe Internet Explorer connects). You can run Event Viewer by going toStart ->Run -> type eventvwr.msc -> pressOk -> event viewer screen opens. If there are errors listed in one of the newspapers type them in your next post if you are not right.

Reading your post I see 3 specific issues, that you might want to focus:

-The memory you added (run Memtest) and hard drive (run Chkdsk)

-The Rhapsody program - try to update or uninstall.

-The software was initially corrupted until you make the first image after the purchase. So you just ghost the problem on.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Tonight, my computer shuts down with a blue screen with a message saying that there was a problem with Windows, more this stop message...

    STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0X805662D1, 0XB38CDA04, 0X00000000)

I have managed to restart in Mode safe for this post, but am not all that computer warned to manage a technical difficulty.   Is there a simple solution that I can use for this problem, or is a trip to my computer that required doctor?

I have not loaded new software in the past few days and have now uninstalled the latest program installed, just in case.

When I tried to send an error report, it wouldn't send it due to a problem.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

    Andrea

It can help to look at the files minidump against accidents with a debugger.

Can you zip the minidump in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder files and (provide link) available via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site?

The following link has information about the use of Windows Live SkyDrive:

    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02dB-4665-993a-08d865088d65

If you have problems to compress the minidump files copy the minidump files to another location such as a folder on the desktop

In addition, you do not necessarily have compress the minidump files, you can download one at a time.

    Hello

Error message Stop is normally caused due to hardware problem. I suggest you try the following steps:

    Step 1:

Disconnect all external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) readers, etc...) Except the keyboard and mouse and then start.

If this solves the problem, then add back devices at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.  Then get any drivers\software update for the device.

I get this message * Stop: 0x0000008E (0 x 80000004, 0x806EDAE1, 0xA82E2708, 0x00000000) when I play world of Warcraft. It happens that I load the game and is about to show on screen. Sometimes it dosent happen but it will be possible that when note, ive tried updated my bios by from what I can tell its place even todate all the driver I know are up to date, please help this really frustrating.

At least, it's different, and you know that you have the latest drivers from Intel.

If it were me, I would compose a message which included the two parts (General information and the video portion) of your latest msinfo32 (you can remove your personal information such as user name) and a description of the problem with the exact error message you see (not paraphrase or "similar to") and WoW you trying to get to work and who post to the support of WoW and the community of users of the web page WoW.  People are very passionate about WoW and they have probably seen this before.  Don't forget to register if you can be notified of responses.

I then copy and paste this nice message and paste it into the community from Intel as well.

Search on Google, it seems that other people are able to get WoW to work with your Intel stuff, but I don't know how do it and have no resource to try to reproduce it - other people who have already done well.

I have xp professional sp3 on a laptop that I bought for the College and try to use Dragon Naturally Speaking v.10.  I have the program loaded and am able to open it and to do the two micro checks, but when I try to start the windows training part stops and gives me the above stop error message. I used v.9.5 DNS on an older desktop with xp with sp2 and never had any problems.  What is the difference and can something be fixed so that I can use v.10 on my laptop?

    Hi Markiepoo,

    Method 1:

You try to perform a clean boot. A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If your problem is resolved after the clean boot, and then follow the steps mentioned in the article above to refine the exact source.

After you have used the boot is a way to solve your problem, you can follow the steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    Method 2:

If you're still having problems, then try to uninstall and reinstall the program.

    a. Click Start, click Control Panel and then double-click Add / Remove programs.

    b. in the currently installed programs, click the program you want to remove and then click on remove.

    c. If you are prompted to confirm the removal of the program, click Yes.

    d. restart the computer and reinstall the program.

For more information, see the following article:
