  Have a dual processor Intel running Vista with 2 GB of memory.

  When start the computer can be turned on but nothing happens. That is the screen is not lighting, brief flashes KB on and nothing. I hae take the drive HARD case and implemented it is powered, but there is no sign that it is accessed at all when the machine is running. It seems that ot could be the HARD drive, but I think that there is a rom on the motherboard, which is accessible in the boot process and I wonder if this could fail. I don't have a spare drive to test what happens then is anyway I can be sure if I need new hard drive or m/Board?

  While on the question - if I need a HARD drive, Vista is the one that crashed and I do not have a Cd with the machine when I bought it. Nor has created a cover of one! I have an old XP Pro upgrade disc and an original copy of Windows 2000 (so I can switch to XP). This is my best option? I can't afford £ 140 for Windows 7.

  Here, you can download an image file to create a boot disk. Then boot from it and to start the test, it is quite easy! ;)

  If your HARD drive is faulty, this tool should recognize this.

  When I turn on my laptop it shows the usual Toshiba screen with the option of choosing F2 or F12, (none of them helped) the next screen is all black with the cursor blinking in the upper left corner.   After replacing HARD drive, I was able to install the new OS and can start the operating system properly.
