"built-in HDD password"

Beloved friends,

I have a serious problem with the HARD drive (original) my portege 3440CT.
At the start of the thing, it gives this sentence:
Built-in HARD drive password.
Nothing happens after that.
This HARD drive was fine before, until I decided to reinstall my system... Once this done, this pb arrived.

I really need your help... Thank you.

Respect for the Records

Hello

It's very strange. Is this laptop second hand or you have it for a long time? Normally, you can reinstall OS several times and something like this shouldn't happen. Have you used for the installation of the OS recovery CD?

  • Defective Portege R700M - BIOS & HDD password reset

    Hello

My Portege R700M stopped working after I hit the top. Service center had rejected citing 'Mother, damaged card', the laptop has been installed for the protection of the BIOS for the HARD drive password.

Even if the hard drive is intact, I am not able to recover the data through the BIOS password protection. will be able to help me to unlock the password of Toshiba.

    Concerning

I guess that the motherboard is faulty and will be replaced. I assume that HDD is OK so I think that your original HARD drive will be used again. After the replacement of the motherboard you n t has more need BIOS password. New motherboard will be more determined by BIOS password.

At least explain the situation and Toshiba technicians will explain to you how it works.

  • Tecra M5 requires more EasyGuard HDD password

    Hi all

I was a complete key and changed some BIOS settings, specific WOL on my laptop. Now, when I try to start I get is more asked for the password (the blue screen with * etc.) but rather a message saying "error loading operating system".

I've tried everything I can think of, but it seems that EasyGuard a death/disabled the startup HARD disk or has infact wiped.

I just tried booting from the XP CD to see if the partitions are intact - I can see two with [Unknown] where it should say NTFS... clearly something to do with the encryption of disk HARD/safety...

Help, please! A quick response would be fantastic!

Did you change or remove the password of HDD in BIOS?

Maybe try to reset the BIOS defaults.

  • How can I remove the HDD password?

Or how can I use a password protected HDD?

From time to time, I can read this question here in the forum and so you can find the answer here already.

However, a HARD drive password can t be deleted. If you n t know the password for the HARD drive you need to replace the HARD drive and no one can remove this password.

Sorry, but that's the absolute truth.

  • HP 8560w crashes after the release of sleep, ATA HDD password game

    Hello

Recently, I have improved my 8560w to windows 8.1, installed a new 520 Intel SSD. When I put a hard drive ATA password (to allow FDE (full disk encryption)), the portable computer cannot resume from SLEEP.

By pressing FN + F3 puts the laptop on standby. Pressing power button sleep spell, shows the login screen it allows me to type my password, then it will fail to show desktop and windows crashes with an unknown error (which I can't read, since the screen immediately restarts).

Removal of the HDD ATA password helps, but is not THE solution, since I need the FDE HARD drive.

  • Satellite U200 - 181 built-in HDD ERROR

"Toshiba Satellite U200-181", I bought 2 weeks ago. Recently (2-3 days ago) I have problem with built-in HARD drive.

So the problem is that sometimes I get the "Built-in HARD drive ERROR" message when starting the laptop. This integrated "Disk ERROR" message appears from time to time and the system shuts down the HARD drive starts, but can start from other bootable devices. First time where the built-in "Disk ERROR" message took place, he was accompanied by a lot of strange pop sound beating from the inside of the laptop. All others

"HARD disk ERROR" messages were not so strong and strange beating pops, but always with some pop sounds (not as strong as the premiere).

To identify possible problems, I saved S.M.A.R.T. data log (see annex 1).

Additional information: after I bought the laptop I ve made successful update BIOS version 1.40 version 1.50 strictly according to Toshiba site official instructions. After BIOS upgrade system works well, no ERRORS, no exceptions. But 3 days ago I received the message"built-in HARD disk ERROR '."

    Any ideas? Thank you.

To my knowledge, the error sometimes because the BIOS can not find the HARD drive as a source of start-up. Perhaps because of the loss of connection or / and a malfunction of the HARD drive.

  • Satellite Z930-N13 - SDS HDD password problem

So I bought a 2nd hand Z930 (with no backup drivers/software) and setting up my password I ticked the box to replicate the password for the HARD drive.

When it is restarted I see a flash error message up but he has not read in time.
It restarted and asked the password - typed in - confirmed. Password HARD drive - not confirmed!
So now, I can't have in the laptop. This can be corrected?

I think I should buy a 256 gb SSD to replace and find all the drivers, and then reformat the laptop - that will work?

I am struggling to find the retailer in the United Kingdom asking them to remove the BIOS password - think that the new SSD would anyway be a cheaper solution?

Any help would be appreciated! I'm threadders - he only had 5 flippin minutes!

    Hello

HARD drive password can be deleted if you do not know the password or the password is wrong.
I have no idea of what happened during the game of password but the fact is that BIOS password and password HARD disk are not the same.
Both can be set in the BIOS of THE separately.

In case the HARD drive password cannot be deleted, the HARD drive would be useless

    > I think I should buy a 256 gb SSD to replace and find all the drivers, and then reformat the laptop - that will work?
Yes, the HARD drive password does not affect the new hard drives or SSD drives but only the HARD disk that was attached to the laptop, while the password has been set.

  • On a Tecra HDD password reset

    Hello.

I have a 4GB HARD drive of a Tecra, that I no longer use. I remember the HARD drive password but whant / need to reset it so that I can use it as a backup of HARD drive on another machine. As far as I can see it is possible to reset the HARD drive password when you use the "hddpwd32.exe"program. The problem is that I do not have this program and I'm unable to find it.
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/content/support/manuals/userguides/Portege/7020CT/chap0009.html

The disc is 4 GB and has been formatted, if none of the original programs are installed.

Any suggestions on how to reset the password?

    Hello

Sorry, but I'm sure that there is no way to reset the HARD drive password because it is saved on the HARD drive itself. In this article, there is description how to create the backup password disk.

    Did you create it?
