  I have a cluster with active and defined DRS fully automated, but when I select the host for the maintenance mode of the VM NOT vmotion to another host in the cluster automatically. I have to vmotion manually each virtual machine to a host selected manually. There are a few VM with DRS off on them because they ONLY work on the host, they are assigned to (replication of virtual computer), but all the other VMS are defined 'by default (automated)'. Would it because I only have two of the host in the cluster?

  Hi Henry,.

  Simply call DefaultCacheServer.start () which starts the services (but does not start the thread of analysis that restarts the services of consistency if the node was chased from the cluster automatically).

  If you want the thread of analysis, too, then, in my opinion, you can call DefaultCacheServer.startDaemon ().

  Stop the services and the thread of analysis is DefaultCacheServer.shutdown ().

  Y at - it an easier way to update the clusters in every penny of vi?

  For example, I have a set of test parameters, not I must add a new test setting.

  If I add new digital say level superior parameter cluster vi he of course breaks the subvi because the cluster is no longer entry corresponds to the cluster on the vi sub control.

• Migration of virtual machines to vSphere 4.1 to vSphere 6.0

  As the title eludes to, we are standing up a new physics 6.0 Server vCenter Server and need to migrate virtual machines of 4.1 6.0 guest hosts.  I'd love to take the time to create a script that does the following; However, before heading down this path, I wanted to do a ping of the group to see if someone has done something like this before or have pointers to scripts that perform some of these actions already.  Some background and concept:

  • Running 4.1.
  • A new physical Center of vCenter 6.0 will be deployed side-by-side with 4.1.
  • The existing configuration of vSphere HA allows for 1-2 guests down without impact to the virtual machines.
  • The two environment and will be Cisco N1KV, SAN access shared for the same data storages.
  • A new vCenter will be lifted.
  • A single host is identified and VMs evacuated to the remaining hosts.
  • This host will be in maintenance mode, removed from the cluster and close.
  • A clean install of ESXi 6 will be done and set up spec.
  • N1KV will be deployed.

  To digress on the details at the moment... Now markets PowerCLI desired.  This idea is ad hoc and on the fly, so as I write this.

  • identify all the virtual machines associated with a specific data store - will need to work with the local client to schedule downtime for virtual machines
  • Stop the virtual machine
  • Remove the VM of the vCenter 4.1 inventory
  • to connect to vCenter 6.0
  • Add the virtual machine to the vCenter 6.0 inventory (and once we have passed the first host in the new cluster, automatically place the virtual machine by using the DRS)
  • Reconfigure the vmnic with the new Cisco 1000V dvs (will be the same name on both sides, but has a different ID)
  • pull in the keys and the values to a CSV and advancedsetting set to harden
  • Turn on the virtual machine
  • Perhaps a test of ping for the NETWORK card to check connectivity

  The order in which the steps are performed can be switched around, as long as the desired end result is the same: migration effectively virtual machines between two disparate solutions with single medium sharing as a data store.  In which I realize will always be VMFS3.  New data stores VMFS-5 is another task for another time.

  With RDM, you can:

  - Use vMotion to migrate virtual machines using raw LUNS.

  
  

  If you use vMotion to migrate the virtual machines with RDM, be sure to maintain Consistent ID LUN for RDM on all participating ESXi hosts.

  The connection to the server will choose a VM Pseudo-aleatoire to the list of machines available and responsive if the user gets a new session. A pool of virtual machines is assumed to be essentially equal and a single compute cluster resource, you can count on DRS for the cluster automatically spread the load between the hosts autour. In practice, what makes very little difference vs picking inspiring heuristic load, such a unique desktop VM will vary a lot in terms of memory and cpu consumption during a user session, and it is best to let the existing algorithms decide rather than managing them.

  Can I automate creating a cluster in LabView using the data structure created in an auto generated. CSV, C header or XML file?  I am trying to take the data structure defined in one or more of these files listed and have LabView automatically create a cluster with structure types and the same data.  (Ideally, I would like to do it with a C header file only.)  Basically, I'm trying to avoid having to create the cluster by hand, as the number of cluster elements could be very large. I looked in EasyXML and contacted the rep for the add-on.  Unfortunately, this feature was not created yet.  Did anyone done something like this before? Thanks in advance for the help.

There must be an easier way to do it, but I wasn't able to find it. I tried thorugh refernece, but it did not work :-(    Also, I wasn't able to find a solution here in this forum.
