buttons webhelp output

I am unable to get a custom button to display in my webhelp output. I tried adding a custom button. In the window of the custom toolbar, I added the necessary info (name, text, image), including only a link to the Web site of our product (under the action tab), but the button does not appear in the toolbar. I tried to change the comments option, but it does not either. Basically, I can't get any button to appear other than the default values in the toolbar-> main panel. I use the skin Editor. The custom button appears when I click on Preview in the skin Editor, but when I generate the help, the button is not there. Any tips?

Hello

When you add a custom button, you must be sure to tell the Source Layout unique recipe that you want it to appear. So on the head to the single Source Layouts pod and right click on the layout you use. Then choose Properties. You didn't say which version of RoboHelp you use, my reprisé crystal ball is broken. Not only that, but my psychic skills are not really what that should be. So I'll talk to RoboHelp 11 and maybe of her you can figure out where your options are if your version is different.

On the left side of the dialog box, click Navigation. Then on the side right, you should see your button but likely will not have a check mark. So this puppy to give him a check, click on generate again and you should be set!

See you soon... Rick

  • What is the best way to deliver the WebHelp output files to the development team in TFS?

I use RoboHelp 2015 to generate WebHelp output.

The development team want me to archive files in TFS so that they can pick up the files and integrate them into the build.

I'm looking for some best practices here because I'm running into some issues whenever I try to check the files back in. For example, I need to manually track the files I added/renamed/deleted in the HR project.

    We discussed the following options:

    • Delete the contents of the WebHelp output folder in TFS whenever I want to check in new files.
      • This works, but doesn't seem to be a very elegant option.
    • Zip the contents of the folder of WebHelp output and archiving/retrieval of this file
      • This works well for me, but the devs have create a separate process to unzip the file whenever they generate a release, they don't care.
    • Check all files in the folder, overwrite the files with the new files, manually add the new files and then check back in.
      • This job very well, but it requires you to manually add the files whenever you check in and also leaves / the legacy of old who were removed from the HR project.

Someone at - it other ideas about how to do this?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    James

    Hello Mack,

I think that the decompression of a file is a very simple action to add to a build process, it is perhaps the best way to go. But there are other options as well.

You can check in sources in TFS and use RoboHelp with source code control. Then you include RoboHelp in the build process so that the latest sources are retrieved from TFS and aid is generated on the server. A nice solution, but still work to implement. I like this solution because I do not store an output is very useful. As long as you have the sources, you can always create new output.

For developers, it is easier to just add all the files output in a specific folder. And you can automate this option for yourself as well. The TFS and RoboHelp can remotely control from the command line. Meaning that you can create a batch (1) file generates output from RoboHelp. (2) deletes the current aid of TFS. (3) add the new output 1 to TFS. (4) checks in changes in TFS. A single file can automate everything for you. I have used this method in the past, and once it is implemented, there is virtually no maintenance for you.

  • Links between projects of child work is not in Internet Explorer (WebHelp output)

I set up a test environment with two projects of the child in order to check that the links work between child projects. I found that creating WebHelp output, the links work OK in Chrome, but not in Internet Explorer. It is not possible to follow the link, or right click and open a new tab, this could be a problem with the way IE handles relative paths, and if so, could someone suggest a work around?

Any advice would be appreciated. (V11 Robohelp, Internet Explorer version 11.)

Normally I suggest you send me your projects so that I could take a look. However, your timing is bad because I can't offer to do it for several weeks now.

When you use IE see you a message about active x and desirous of you to allow it? I think that this could be the problem that occurs only with local facilities. On the other hand, if that was the cause, you would see it with my projects as well.

  • ducc Webhelp output size

Tool: Robohelp 11, webhelp, using DUCC (dynamic user story-centricnt)

Question: DUCC generates its own output files for each category of content you create. However, my use of the DUCC is simple, only the table of contents/index. Output size can be reduced?

( Reason: 1) good to know. My use of the DUCC can be more complicated next time.  (2) a software build process a lot of markets and players. Whereas an addition 50 MB is sizewise small potatoes, it would be courteous reduce time if is not necessary.

Possible method, I think: there are maybe a dialog box option to redirect the DUCC table of contents/index to key topics rather than generate a separate set of files.

    Details

    My output size

    • Non-DUCC webhelp output is 25MB
    • Addition of 2 categories of content DUCC totals 75Mo

    Help the user selections

    • Product help (by default, used by about half of the users, inclusive table indexes materials)
    • Manager (single table of contents/index)
    • Help user (single table of contents/index)

My use of the DUCC is perhaps the simplest:

    • Table of contents/index of only differ
    • All have the language and even conditional text
    • Search finds all topics

    Thank you

There currently is no way to do this in RoboHelp, other than the creation of outputs or DUCC multiples. (Essentially the same as DUCC.) I encourage you to drop a wish with Adobe: Adobe - feature request/Bug Report Form

More people to submit a wish, more likely, to be implemented.

    Kind regards

  • Not able to view webhelp output in Robohelp 9

    Hello

I am in a project where we create a Robohelp 9 webhelp output. Whenever I generate webhelp output, I'm not able to view the content. • Problems generating WebHelp output using RoboHelp X 5

    Hello

I have been using RoboHelp X 5, build 606 since the last 2 weeks. I am facing problems with the generation of the WebHelp output, when I generate and publish the project, it does not give me the Index and table of contents. I took over the project from another author, and when I compare the new published folder help with his previous work, I see some missing files. Could someone group please help me solve this problem?

    Thank you!

    Two options from this information.

1] is the D drive partition on your hard drive or a network drive? The RoboHelp projects must be executed from your hard drive.

[2] the most likely is that HR is not properly installed. When the left anterior author was uninstalled and reinstalled HR using your login? For X 5, it must be installed using your login? Also, you need local administrator rights both to install it and use it.

My guess is that it's all to do with X 5 having not been installed with your login and you have local administrator rights.

This will lead to another problem. X 5 can no longer be activated. The solution that is on my site. See extract of 100.

  • RH11: Navigation bar missing Webhelp output

    Hello

I want to generate a WebHelp in HR 11 output with a supplied skin (i.e. 'money XP'). In the WebHelp skin Editor, I see the navigation bar.

Generate the WebHelp, I do not see the navigation bar (Browser is IE11 or Firefox 42). Any ideas? Any option, I forgot to ICT before generating?

    See you soon

The arrows are for sequences of browse. You enable them by adding sequences to RoboHelp (Tools > sequence editor to browse) and selecting the sequence in the SSL.

The drop-down list is for categories of content. Only if you create several categories in your WebHelp, you will see the drop-down list.

  • The images are blurred in FM 12 CHM and WebHelp output.

    Hello

I use the trial version of 12 FM and trying to export both CHM and WebHelp.

We would like to use the original images, but the publication process is their resizing. I read that the maximum size, Width, and Height to 0 will cause the program does not resize the image. However, when I put L/H to 0, the images are removed from the output of my project.

When I generate WebHelp I noticed that the HTML has a style of play, but I don't have the options selected in the style of the Image.

    < class p = "FM_Figure" > < img alt = "UserRoles04NewRole.png" style = "width: 306.319pt; height: 96.559pt; margin-bottom: 0.000pt; ""id = "3" src ="UserRoles04NewRole.png" / > < / p >

I am pleased that the HTML is referencing the original icon, I thought that for sure that the graphics have been converted during the publication process. But how do I configure my .sts so that images are not resized?

    Thank you!

    Hi sosammsi,

Maximum Width and Height definition for 0pt will set the property max-width and height of inline output to 0pt which allows you to hide the image.

Please try to set preferred Width and Height to 0pt. This should generate better quality without the styles inline images.

  • Generated WebHelp output folder contains------! ScreenLayout! ------folder

I am running TCS4 and just played a bit with the creation of WebHelp with RH10. In my project and the Salesbuilder project, I find that there is a------! ScreenLayout! ------record with only a file mobile.css in each subfolder. I could understand this if I was generating Multiscreen HTML5 output, but I'm not - WebHelp has been made available by default in both cases. So 2 questions - firstly, why is - what is put there and, secondly, can I safely get rid of him? My help gets only bundled with our software and installed on servers LAN customers, never a Web server. You cannot run the software on a mobile phone, in order to try to access this way never between in-game.

  • I can name the html (in WebHelp output) of the FrameMaker content files?

We are using FrameMaker 10 on Windows 7.  We use RoboHelp 9 for WebHelp.

I work for a small software service in a large company.  We must provide our customers with context-sensitive online help.

When we publish WebHelp, each page of the WebHelp consists of the section in FrameMaker and all the content that follows as such (in the next section).

The way our software provides a context-sensitive online help is not by any alphanumeric code, but rather by the name of html file.

For example, the name of the HTML file to the window "Add insurance" should be: AddInsurance.htm.

When the user is in the Add Insurance window and press F1, the system looks in the folder help online to a file named, "AddInsurance.htm."

Is it possible to manually assign the name of the output HTML of the header file in the source FrameMaker file?

If so, I would be grateful for the detailed procedure.  (I was recently reacquainted with FrameMaker after a long absence.)

    Thank you!

    Tim

Yes, you can use the topic marker name field in HR Conversion settings to specify a marker custom FM that you put where you want your FM file broken up. In the text of the marker, you can specify the file name and the title of the topic - see the TCS blog for more information.

  • Signs of WebHelp output

I need to make sure that the output of the help available is WebHelp. What files, extensions, other characteristics of the output can indicate whether WebHelp?

    Thank you!

If you say that you have output files and you want to make sure it's webhelp, search for some files called whdata, whgdata and whxdata. This indicates webhelp. If you want to generate webhelp, make sure generate you webhelp, extend patterns of single Source and you'll find an option to webhelp.
