• Looking to buy a Lenovo IdeaPad S12 (29595GU)

  Hello.  I am looking to buy a netbook, and from what I can tell the Lenovo S12 is the best with his 12 inch screen, QS OS, nVidia ION, HDMI output, 3 GB of RAM and 320 HARD drive.  The only problem I have is that it is just expensive for me right now.  Is there anyway that he will drop in price after Christmas, or when the ION2 comes out?

• Limitation of Ram of 1 GB on Netbooks

  I recently bought a HP Mini 110-1031NR netbook and also bought a stick of 2 GB of RAM.  I installed a new operating system, Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate, medium format and custom Setup, but on the Manager display tasks windows, up to 50% of the RAM is used, and the rest is "available".  How can I get around the restriction of 1 GB, because it's frustrating to buy a netbook, then being unable to change to the best suit my needs.  I need to contact Microsoft about this problem?  All advice is appreciated.

  The limitation is not there.  I opened enough programs to use fully more than 1 GB.  It would be probably limited if I had not changed to a different operating system than what it comes with XP sp3, because Microsoft wants to limit these sales and sell more netbooks with the newer OS.  Just do a search on limits of ram on netbooks.

  I think about buying a netbook, and I wonder if the CF Developer edition would go to this topic.  I watched the CF9 requirements and including it requests for Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon processors.  So it doesn't look like it will work on something like Intel Atom.   Does anyone have experience running CF on a netbook?  Thank you!

• NB520 - 10 H 3 g Sim?

  Last week, I bought this netbook to John Lewis. One of the reasons I chose this model is because it seemed to have a card sim 3g behind the battery slot. I have a USB drive with the sim card and thought that I could just remove sim and slot in this netbook, where it works just like the big usb stuck into the USB stick!

  However, I can't do this work and does not appear the SIM slot correctly. Now, I'm getting too little suspect is not actually a job slot... In this case, it's bye bye Toshiba, that I'll get a full refund and buy another netbook from manufacturers that actually works as it should.

  Can anyoone help me make this work, as I prefer to keep the nb520?

• NB500 - Windows XP drivers available?

  You can check yourself if XP drivers are available for NB500 or not. So, visit the Toshiba driver download page and search for of NB500 drivers:

  Mobile > Toshiba > Toshiba NB series > NB500

  As you can see there is not available Windows XP drivers, and you use Windows 7.

  Of course, you can search on 3 pilot sites but there is no guarantee that you will get all the drivers and if they work properly.
  With other words: no official driver available.

  I had an Eee pc 901 briefly, but found that the wi - fi adapter in this (a Ralink RT2790) could not deal with some of the above. I have good hope that the NB100 adapter (an Atheros AR5007EG, I understand) will be OK because I have not seen all the problems of this nature in this forum.

• Portege R500 - CPU is 50% (accelerator)

  My Portege R500 has to a C2D U7700 processor, who still works at half it is the maximum speed. And when I say always, I mean that lower the CPU load makes no difference, battery/power makes no difference, and power management has also makes no difference.

  Note that I speak not of the States-P! The processor goes to 1, 33GHz when I wait for him. I have NOT also speaks the thermal throttle, because the cpu is not overheating. I do not speak of the * economy Butterfly * normal energy.

  Well, I turned this processor is actually slower than an Atom N270. This could not be true, so I went to study. I downloaded [RMclock | http://cpu.rightmark.org/download.shtml] and I noticed that the throttle is never more than 50%. RMclock can turn off gas also by the force of the lever, and then YES my laptop is literally twice as fast (which can be seen in any benchmark CPU). But after 10 seconds or more, the throttle is back and the laptop is back at half it's maximum speed.

  Here's what I've tried so far:
  (1) HWSetup, the value dynamic CPU frequency Mode "still high". No change.
  (2) in Vista, select "High performance" power plan and max on the "CPU power management" option in the options advnaced. No change.
  (3) in RMclock, define the profile to * only * use the throttle to 100% State. No change.
  (4) RMclock, disable C1E instruction. No change.

  So. How can I get the gas in order to exploit and 100% when I need to? Otherwise I could buy a netbook-Atom based as well :(

  What is the CPU load in idle state?
  What happens if you open several applications and expect more power?
  Use CPU does only 50% and remains at this level?

  1. factory images are sent on CD, if you buy a netbook or a laptop without an optical drive, they assume they know what you buy and so expect to have or buy an external optical drive.

• Windows 7 password problem: does not recognize password after waking from sleep

  So I have recently buy a netbook with Windows 7 operating system. I create the administrator account and password protect. All right, install software, copy documents, etc. in the "My Documents" folder and happily use the machine for a few days with no problems. Then work off the battery voltage, put the PC in sleep for some time. When I try and log back in after the awakening of the PC, it does not recognize the password. Try with cap locks, off and all the rest, but not luck. I must finally remove the battery and restart. Sign in as normal (the password is recognized) and go in the user administrator account to disable the password, but then again, the current password is not recognized and I am not allowed to make changes. However, I can still close and log on by using the current password. Confused. Anyine have any ideas?

  There is no need to remove the battery or pull the taken when force a PC to stop. By pressing the power button for about ten seconds will do the trick.

  Your password problem: you might be dealing with a foreign keyboard problem. Make the password to something that is independent of the keyboard configuration, for example 123456.

  To reset the administrator password, follow these steps:
  1. click on start.
  2. type the three letters cmd in the search box.
  3. press on Ctrl + Shift + Enter
  4. click on "run as Administrator".
  5. type the following commands and press ENTER after each:
  net localgroup administrators
  (This will show you the accounts that have administrative privileges. What is?)
  NET user administrator 123456
  (This will set the password to 123456)
