• I have created a form in Indesign. Is there a way to create the default text in a text field that displays the interactive pdf "insert text here" in the text field?

  I have created a form for the company, so that I work. It is a form that will be used in several offices and has buttons, drop downs and text fields. One of the text fields has a requirement that when the PDF file is opened, the text field has something written in there already, as an example (and one only) INSERT the TEXT HERE. I created the text field in Indesign and used the text tool to type in the area of the body-copy required. After that I have to export it as an interactive PDF, text in the text field disappeared.

  Drop-down lists give an option for a default choice, but I don't see a way to create default text in the Panel of buttons and forms for text fields. Is there a workaround or a hidden feature?

• buttons change layers when creating interactive PDF HELP!

  I have a lot of documents with images that need to be enlarged, so for each image (a few pages with a single image, others with 4 or 5) I create the image as a button.  In a new layer called overlay, I create a greybox on the page and the bigger picture and more than (the two buttons and hidden initially).

  If the layers order goes like this:

  Big picture (top)

  GreyBox

  small image.

  Preview interactive ePub in InDesign is on-site.  The button to reveal and hide the images correctly and are in the correct order.

  HOWEVER, when I generate an interactive PDF, pages look fine until I click on a button, but once I click on a picture, I get:

  big picture is cut UNDER the greybox.

  Small image is above the large image.

  I published the document online and when displayed in a browser, all the problems disappear (I remember that it uses the same engine as the preview interactive ePub) but when I download the on-line document, the errors come back.

  I feel really it is a bug in InDesign (Adobe listening?) and if anyone has had similar problems, I'd like to hear about them.

  I made a document in indesign, and when I export to interactive PDF, fonts, etc key... changes.  EX I use leading font 18 Arial Black with12PT in indeign and when I export the document and open it in Acrobat reader or Acrobat Pro police police 12Pt Arial (NOrmal) and 14.4 (Default) leader.  Any ideas on that?  How can I keep the fonts that I use in indesign?  The Dungeon of pieces interactive no fonts that I use her does not affect the interactive elements.

  The problem is not InDesign, that's the limitation of fonts in PDF Forms. If you open the properties of the text field for your text field in Acrobat, you will see something like this:

  Also note that there are no options for line spacing at all. If it's really not for lack of InDesign, but a limitation in PDF Forms.

  Use the hyperlinks Panel (I remember it is combined with cross-references in CS5). It would be window > Interactive > hyperlinks. Go to the page that you want to access with the touch. In the hyperlinks Panel menu, choose the new Destination of the hyperlink. In the new Destination of the Hyperlink dialog box, select Type: Page. Make sure that your current page is selected, and then click OK.

  Return to your button and how to choose your action to go to destination and select the destination of your creation.

  Hi, I make an interactive PDF for a presentation in Indesign and came with a few problems. I put the next and previous buttons whose fine workmanship, but I can put cursor anywhere on the page and click on and it will go to the next page that lays off the next button. Is there a way to disable this option. The following problem is I created a few roll on buttons and put them to go to a certain page, but when I did the PDF don't work the roller more works fine but when I click on these. I chose OnClick for button function.  Can someone please help with these problems

  This is the default behavior, and there is nothing to prevent a user to the next page with a click of mouse.

  "Go to Page" action is SWF or HTML5, is not actionable in PDF. For the PDF, you can use the "Go to Destination" action instead. Define all first Page, or anchor text as a hyperlink destination.

• Make interactive PDF of slices

  I sliced and saved my Photoshop document.  Should what program I use to put together slices to make an interactive PDF without knowing html code?

  Since no one has answered my question I thought about it myself.  Put the slices of Photo Shop together to create a PDF file did not work in Acrobat, because I don't see an option to make a document which was a specific pixel size.  I found that you can do in Design.  The slices arranged perfectly when I pressed the snap guides.  I have a right-click on each slice to create each hyperlink.  Then I exported as an interactive PDF, and it worked.  He is noted for the quality of registered Shop Photo slices or it will be pixelated to the default setting.  I also had to improve the quality of export PDF to maintain 300 DPI, otherwise that by default was also about 70 DPI.

  OK, so the video is to maintain a size fixed when you zoom in and out of the page. You use my widget VideoPlayerX in InDesign or standard? VPX will play fixed size by default.

• How do you get video to automatically rewind to start once played in an interactive pdf?

  I'm pretty new to this adventure in the Jungle of Indesign. I've set up a video. This video is exported to an interactive pdf. When a user clickes on the interactive pdf, video plays to the end and stops on melted thin black rectangle.

  In its current form, the video goes black and the black rectangle stays on the screen. The video does not show the opening image.

  I would like the video to return at the beginning of the video and view the original video image.

  Is there a way to do this?

  The default SWF video player inserted in a PDF widget does not support looping, and there is no way to change the inside of InDesign - you must modify the widget.

  We have a free replacement version that natively supports the closure and can be used in Acrobat 9 + and InDesign CS5 +. To install, extract the VideoPlayer.swf the following file, keeping the existing ones as a backup:

  • For Acrobat, put it in the Program Files(x86)/Adobe/Acrobat xAcrobat/multimedia/readers of skins
  • For InDesign, put it in the Program Files(x86)/Adobe/Adobe InDesign CSx/Presets/multimedia

  where 'x' represents the version number.

  Place your video as before and export to PDF and the widget will be used instead of the default version of non closure. He has a bunch of other advanced features, you can control within Acrobat using scripts, once the PDF file has been exported.

I tried all kinds of variations, to get rid of stocks double in the buttons from the new files, new buttons, but the play button just didn't work. In my last essay, the play button worked, but only after I had press resume. So I'm completely puzzled.

  Not really sure on the second part, but I've seen the behaviour you describe with video files. I have just run through Adobe Media Encoder.

• Opening in full screen: Mac to PC (interactive PDF)

  I created an interactive Pdf with transitions of page (turning page) from a SWF on Mac.

  I put this to open fullscreen on mac from the start.

  When sent to a PC, it gives a prompt message requesting that the user wants to open it in full screen. I checked this box, save again clicked OK and "recorded under" to this option.

  However, as soon as this file to another user, they get even the prompt box asking if they would like to open it in full screen.

  There are certain conditions, which the author of a PDF file may not prevent, according to the settings made by the Viewer. This is one of them.

  In Acrobat and Reader, there is a full screen preference. The default option is to "Alert when document requests full screen" to verify. Your username will need to uncheck this option. You can't do that.

• In preview, can I listen to audio files in an interactive pdf?

  We did a huge interactive pdf file in InDesign, with text and sound and video files. They read well both in Acrobat Reader on imac and a PC with Acrobat Pro. The file opens in the application overview on imac, but then the audio files and video files are not possible to open. Anyone know if there is a feature to listen to sound files in the application preview or Acrobat Reader is that so?
