I'm trying to update the firmware of my DVD - RW drive on my HP desktop computer (model #P7 - 1298c).  However, when I allow HP to scan my computer for updates, it shows the firmware for the HP SW820 updates.  My Device Manager indicates that the drive installed in my computer is a SW810.  Is the information in incorrect device manager?  I don't want you try to install update wrong firmware and the drive of brick.  Please let me know.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    Adam, welcome to the forum.

According to the driver page (select OS and Version and click on update) for the computer, the SW 820 seems correct.  You can try to update the Firmware, if it is not correct, it will not simply complete the update.

  • HP artist edition theme-HP Pavilion DV6Z - 1100SE

First of all - i guess well never again HP, if you out of warranty - these guys are unnecessary and just pay, something has already been paid for. So here's my problem-i got HP DV6Z-1100SE artist edition laptop, blue-white custom and high body. It was shipped with Windows Vista on it and later has been upgraded to Windows 7 came laptop with Stardock MyColors with HP artist edition 2 theme for her. Months ago my HARD drive died, brick full. Not a problem - I looked up the back, so I bought a new HARD drive and reinstalled windows 7. Well then I got barely - hp.com is my model of laptop, nothing. So executed 'autodetect' - it will recognize it as usual portable base DV6Z-1100. Although drivers are the same, so I got this operational part. But then I tried to make my Windows 7 look like it used to be-with the HP artist edition 2 Theme. And here the problem-i can't find it, I can't download it, found older 2-3 markets here on "back-up your theme. Then, I used my Googling advanced skills and got the software back-Stardock MyColors app. I was able to find 3 or 4 themes such as "Edition Vivienne mAh" and "wrong Boontje edition", but I want MY BLUE AND WHITE HP THEME! " Well-i guess, it's time to call HP, right? * beep *-wrong answer. The guy does not even what I'm talking about and tried to sell me extended support program and to charge me $ 99 to do this, if I don't want to pay to go to HP.com and download it. Loop... I've already paid for this computer portable limited edition, I paid extra for internal and external ART! So, if anyone can point me to HP software package with Stardock my colors HP Artist Edition 2, or if there is an owner of the laptop can even email - me the theme file. Any help is apperciated. I hope I can get it, otherwise that this laptop will be the last HP product I got. Same Dell which is known for terrible customer serivce can maintain at least their website with good product downloads. Thank you very much in advance, I really hope that I'll bring back the original look of my laptop.

This agreement of the whole of the community is as useless as the HP technical support. I got the theme recovered from the former to the top (lucky me). HP never more. Laptop goes on sale, do not want to take care of this thing once again. If someone looking for theme-leave your e-mail, I'll send it to you.

    Hello again,

Do you know how to make a Windows system analysis? You know, click on and open your 'icon Workstation ' in safe mode, then right-click on the icon (C) operating system and drop down to and click Properties, click Open the Tools tab and click on Error Checking /check out now, then check the automatically fix file system errors and will search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors , click Start. After a few seconds, the computer will indicate that she cela at the next restart, click Yes and then close and leave everything by clicking on OK and restart your laptop and let the whole Windows system analysis. This vital analysis of Windows system can easily take more than two hours and can not - repeat - cannot be tampered with, or has stopped whether it is for a reason, OK? Once the scan is complete, your laptop restarts itself. Not - repeat - do not try this scan until the computer has been cleaned of bugs!

This analysis will help to determine whether or not the hard drive is bricking.

  • eMac stops almost immediately when starting after replacing HARD drive

    Hey all!

I need to explain a bit for this one, so please bear with me. Thank you.

Long story short, I've had a few eMacs for quite a while now and I recently found a use for them. I created a (it is running 10.4 with 1 GB of RAM and a > G4 processor at 1 GHz, can't remember) and used it for a while before randomly power loss and refused to stay on for more than a few minutes. I tried to replace the PMU battery with one of the other Mac and pressing the reset button, which leads to stop showing signs of life whatsoever (even after the replacement of the original battery).

Thinking I had it bricked, I got out one of the other Mac with a plan to give the disk of death. This new Mac running 10.5, perfect with another > G4 processor at 1 GHz (but only 768 MB of RAM this time). The only quirk I noticed is the TRC took abnormally long to warm up, black time with only red but gradually more luminous and no longer red colors of departure. It was about normal 5 minutes after that OSX end of initialization. In any case, I went to swap out hard drives and put everything to the top, to see that yet again, this new Mac does not work!

If it has been awhile since the last attempt to start the CRT will do its usual "bong" noise before machine clicks (sorta like a relay of power off) and nothing else happens. If I try again, the CRT is silent (no doubt he is already warm from the last attempt to start?) and you can hear two clicks - one that looks like something to turn it on, then turn it off even on front. These clicks are different lengths apart - usually, this is only a few seconds, but sometimes longer. There was a few times where the fans have started between clicks and I've even heard the startup chime on an attempt (which got me excited - but no, it clicked and distributed repressed). The CRT does not seem to do anything other than bonging from time to time (but it can turn on - I can't say because of the problem of the warm-up that I mentioned earlier).

I would really like to be able to resurrect this old Mac once again - I have the vague feeling that I broke it when replacing the HARD drive. I'm pretty sure that I have not forgotten all the internal cables, and I tried not to touch anything other than the HARD drive and the enclosure of the logic board (ended up having to remove the blower housing too, however). Two Macs are model A1002 and both have serial numbers in the YM412xxxxxx - YM520xxxxxx range (eligible for repair program?). I don't know if they were actually taken repair back in the day.

In any case, I hope you guys can help out me! Thanks in advance!

(P.S the first eMac is well beyond repair. I have also a third one - it is better to go by replacing the HARD drive again? It is worth noting that the PMU battery has been sitting on my desk for a while now. "It was probably flat anyway).

The HARD drive would be the problem? It seems that it is.

See if you can just unplug the data cable from HARD drive and try to hold down the alt or option to the startup/power.

  • Equium A300 boot not upward or HARD drive or ODD

Looks like I have the same problem on my A300 16 months old but a bit more complex. The HARD drive light does not come on (sometimes and I get the starting test 'not found media'. tried booting from the recovery disk, but it seems that the CD rom is also intermittent at startup.)

Tried to put the Bios on the CD, but when the cd turn nothing loaded. tried the new HARD drive but no response either. Is the power, the same drive HARD and the same CD?

Any suggestions someone like her looks that I now have an expensive brick.

    Hello

The HARD drive is listed in the BIOS?
You should check this out! In the BIOS, you should see details of the HARD drive (size, name, etc.)

    > the power the same drive HARD and the same CD?
The STRANGE and HARD drive are connected to two different controllers which are placed on the motherboard. Both controllers work independently of each other.
Even if only one controller is defective, the other controller should function properly, and the device connected to the controller of such should be recognized.

Have you tried to start using different disks; for example, the Linux CD or another disk (no recovery).
    Should do it.

    The best procedure is it;
Turn on the device, press F12, then you should see all the boot devices possible.
Then choose ODD (CD/DVD drive) and follow the start-up procedure

If this is not possible, then a serious hardware problem is possible

    Hello

I found all the Win XP drivers for Qosmio G30 PQG31E!
On the European driver Toshiba page, you can find the Win XP MCE drivers
XP MCE drivers are the same drivers for Win XP Home or Pro.

There are also some BIOS 3, 90-WIN and this BIOS is operating system independent. In other words, it works with Win XP and Vista...

When you buy a new laptop model, you will not get recovery disk with your laptop. original recovery image is saved on the HARD drive. In s manuals you can find detailed instructions on creating recovery discs and advice why is so important backup image recovery.

    Here is the original information:
    * Important INFORMATION *.

    * Your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need to repair your computer in the restaurant to the original factory condition, you can do so directly from the hard disk (press F8 when you start your computer, choose "Repair your computer" and follow the instructions in the menu) or create a bootable recovery for this fin.* drive carrier

    * Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator' to ensure that you are able to restore your computer to the original, factory-installed state even if your computer is seriously damaged *.

Is there a reason why you didn t create a support of recovery in the past? Please don't get me wrong, you have been informed but you didn t take care about it.
Anyway, Toshiba offers to get it again. Yes you have to pay, but you will get the active OS version again including all necessary drivers, utilities and software tools, additional again.

  • Brick machine after BIOS update

Here is a method that has worked for save a laptop HDX18 running an Insyde BIOS.

Download the latest BIOS for this model.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp51501-52000/sp51618.exe

Save it on the desktop and use 7-Zip to "extract the files, when you open it you will find a file with the name of 3610F34.fd.

Rename this file to 3610.BIN (I used the capitols)

Enter a USB flash drive 2 GB or smaller and it must automatically be formatted in FAT32, when it's done copy and paste your BIOS file, newly appointed to the flash drive, safely eject the drive on your computer. (not just pull the USB port)

    On my HDX18 Bricked.

Remove the battery and the adapter and hold down the button for 30 seconds to do a hard reset.

Plug the flash drive into one of the ports USB left , hold the 'Windows' + 'B' key and hold your it plug the adapter.

Start the laptop should begin to beep and read the flash drive, release the keys when and finished the laptop turns off. Let stand for 3 minutes and Windows.

This method has done does not on my dv8, or done a job here for mrtranmsb:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and/please-help-recovery-BIOS-HP-DV4-1326TX/...

I had my dv8 two choices to replace the system board or replace the BIOS with a pre-programmed one chip.

In my case, I was certain that it was a bad BIOS update because the machine was in perfect health before the flash.

I decided to replace the chip, and 'My Tech' was most useful in the identification of the chip of the BIOS as well as Note Book Review. I bought the chip of 'My Tech'

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While all mean, this means that if your laptop is out of warranty , there not a lot of options to fix things.

Most of the people do not have the skill that it takes to resolder a BIOS chip on the motherboard, and in this case, a replacement motherboard is the only alternative.

    OR

If you have all your hard drive partitions in tact (the key is the HP tools partition), you may be able to save the BIOS of this partition by organizing the 'Windows' + 'B' key down to start. This works as with the factory original OS installation, you don't have not changed or added to partitions and if your machine is more recent then 2010.

Before you try everything before, make sure that it is in fact a corrupted BIOS problem.

Also note that this thread is only dealing with an Insyde BIOS, not Phoenix or any other.

    Hi again,

  • Qosmio G30-204 - design of brick at startup

    Hi people I have a Qosmio G30-204.

On start its got this design a little brick behind the logo and then Qosmio where writing starts to come, outgoing agent priming, etc., instead of the black screen, its black and yellow lines most of them 4 yellow straight lines.
After that windows Vista won't sign and it will remain as a black screen.

It works in safe mode and the design that comes at the beginning, there will be a design similar to the desktop, any window, I opened.

    Could be my graphics card?

    Hello!

It is difficult to understand, but have you tried an external monitor on the laptop?
So you can make sure if it s a problem with the internal display or mother/graphics chip.

Maybe it s only a driver or software issue because you said it works in safe mode. Maybe you should try to update the display driver that you can find on the Toshiba site.

  • READ THIS | If your model 7200.11 Seagate Barracuda drive ST3500620AS has stopped working.

HP finally released a firmware update for Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drive (model affected ST3500620AS).

If your computer has been freezing, or if your hard drive is stopped suddenly appears in the BIOS (error BIOSHD-2), this update of the firmware could unbrick your drive and give you access to your data again.

    Find it here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en & cc = US & swItem = vc-681...

I'll try it tonight on my brick drive and will let you know how it goes.

    see you soon,

So, after a lot of grief, many hardships and moments of despair, I managed to do what any person HP support told me was impossible:

I have my drive unbricked AND recovered ALL my data!

How I did it, you might ask? First of all, let me tell you what happened before my happy time:

I did research on the problem of Seagate firmware since December and read a lot about the issues people were having as well as the causes of these problems. Looks like what this firmware bug is cause one of two problems: the drive appears in the BIOS but shows 0 capacity, or it does not appear in the BIOS at all. It seems that readers OEM, we have all in our TouchSmarts have been affeced by the emission of the latter (the hard drive is no longer appear).  This is because the disc stuck in a mode (BSY error google and you'll find the question) which does not allow him to respond to the rear. It is, indeed, forever busy.

As a result of this BSY error, I could not run the update of firmware HP newly posted for our Seagate drives. This is when the heartache began. After countless hours of research and digging, I came across the following forum, which became my Eldorado.

Basically the tutorial you guide through the steps necessary to "hack" your hard drive management board and 'talk to her directly' via Hyper Terminal (I ended up using a data cable USB for my old mobile phone Siemens, however). It took me two goes into this area and a lot of patience and careful reading, but my drive came back to life!

Again, here's my details and questions for you in summary:

    Material:

-Seagate Barracuda drive: 500 GB, ST3500620AS, model series 7200.11, HP version firmware HP24

    Description of the problem:

    -The drive just stopped working

-Started my PC and the player has is no longer appear in the BIOS

-Hard drive light was always on

-Hard drive made some funny sounds clicking

-The reader was not admissible for the new fix for the firmware (HP13 Rev A on February 6, 2009)

I hope this helps someone out there. If you need assistance, please contact me and I'll do my best to help!
