C:\Users\ (username) \AppData\Local\Temp folder uses a lot of space

I noticed that folder \AppData\Local\Temp C:\Users\ (username) uses a lot of space on the disk "C". I don't have much space, so I have to delete it?

What is important to my pc?
(btw, my PC is windows 7 "64-bit")

It contains temporary files, run Disk Cleanup

"Windows cannot find C:\Users\HP\AppData\Local\Temp\Install_30150\ins_sm.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. "

Changes in number (i.e. 30150) to each new error message.

    (Moved to programs)

    Hi Elise,.

The Temp folder in the location you can get the error is temporary. It stores temporary data when you access a Web site or when you download a file. You can delete this folder. Select all the files in the Temp folder and delete it.

Let us try to check if you are facing this problem because of any third-party application. Attempt to start the clean boot of your computer state. To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

The files and folders in C:\Users\PC\AppData\Local\Temp can be deleted (Windows 7)?

It is generally safe. Applications do not normally permanently store files there. If you're worried, use disk cleanup (cleanmgr) to clear the TEMP folder. By default, disk cleanup does not remove the files/folders that have been accessed in the last 7 days.

I can't tell you what creates the tmp files, but here are a few
General info on the topic: the temp folder has space to work for
programs. Programs may create temporary files for their own
temporary use. Each program must delete all of its temporary files when
It closes, but for various reasons it is not always the case (for
example, if the program crashes, it only ever to do so). That's why
It's a good idea to periodically clean the what is left.

    Hello

I have a problem with the Windows 7 C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Local\Temp temp folder. Sort randomly, I lose access to this folder, in the sense that if I open a cmd terminal and I try to cd to that folder, it gives an access denied error (at least that I start cmd as administrator). I noticed in the list of permissions on this folder does not appear the SYSTEM. I read somewhere that this is the problem, so I added back, and then it worked. Unfortunately it disappears every day the list of permissions, and I have to put in place every day which is annoying. Do you know what could cause this problem? How can I see which changes these permissions?

    Hi Razvan,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community

According the information you have provided, I understand that you found error access denied when using certain commands to the command prompt. I will certainly help you in this matter.

    1. have you logged as administrator?

    2. do you have an antivirus software installed?

Some commands that you run at a command prompt, you need the administrative privileges for the good functioning of Windows.
