  If your laptop did not come with recovery disks, then the PC manufacturer will install the image on a partition of your hard drive. Make sure that you backup all the necessary files on a DVD before restoring as you will lose all these files and other applications that you have installed since you bought your laptop. You will also need to reinstall all the software that you have personally installed on your laptop, so I hope that you have the installation for those files.

  Alternatively, the PC manufacturer can provide you with some time with the recovery discs, but they charge for those.
