Calculation of speed of RAM

Original title: ram speed

the ram in my laptop has a strip of 1 GB and 1 stick of 2 GB.  The speed of the ram 3 GB or is it the slowest of the 2 sticks by which it would be 2 GB

/ 3GB is the amount of RAM you have. It has nothing to do with his speed.

The speed of to that the RAM works is defined by the motherboard. When you buy RAM, every stick comes with a certain speed, but it's actually * not * speed; This is the speed that it is certified to operate in without problem. If you install RAM with a speed lower than what the motherboard will take place at, looking for trouble.

And by the way, it has nothing to do with your question, but the performance unmatched RAM bars as you do, often creates a problem.

  • Envy TouchSmart 17-j153cl: maximum speed DDR3L RAM in HP ENVY 17-j153cl

    Hello!

I currently have the Touchsmart from HP Envy 17-j153cl with a BIOS updated. The vehicle has currently 2x8GB sticks of RAM SoDIMM DDR3L strips - 1600 MHz. I was wondering what was the maximum speed of RAM supported by the BIOS. I'm hoping to upgrade to Kingston HyperX 2133 MHz SODIMM 2x8GB DDR3L, but I heard that if the laptop BIOS does not support the higher speed, it is just downclocked. So, I wanted to know if bios default HP on the 17 - j153cl can handle the speed of the potentially new RAM. Thank you for your help.

    1. This permanently cancels the warranty. Are you sure that the machine allows to do this?
    2. I have some older posts to talk about RAM. I usually use the car for example. You can run a race car at high speed on a race track, not on normal/streets roads; especially on roads with speed limits.

What is the highest speed of RAM I can install in my DV6-3112sa? The factory installed is RAM PC3-10700 (1333) installed.

I'm looking to upgrade to PC3-12800 (1600). Will this work?

Although you are to install PC3-12800 (1600), it is unlikely that you will see gains preformance. All modules in memory system associated with this Intel card base system are listed by HP as DDR3 PC3-10600 1333 MHz.  HP dv6 PC Maintenance and Service of Guide

    I have only 2 problems:

If I adjust the speed of the RAM at 1600 MHZ in BIOS, I can boot up to windows but can't do anything, if I go to control panel, Manager of tweak or devices in Control Panel Nvidia, Windows will crash a blue screen and restart. Everything is normal at speed of ram 1333 MHZ.

    Hello!

Just ordered me one of them and I was wondering if anyone know the max speed RAM that

He is coming with just a stick of 8 GB of DDR3L 1600, then fall into another stick to allow two channels
will be a no-brainer, but I got such a good deal, just thought I'd might as well go for 2 sticks of

    Hello

Usually, the bios is there changes of dimm but the bios is locked.  A very custom motherboard would give you this option.

You could try a few different memory manufacturers and see if they have DIMM locations with good default value.  You may have to go up to the faster nominal DIMMS for your model of PC to reach the desired speed.  Computers HP can be tricky with the DIMMs.

  • What is the speed of RAM DV6-6c53cl

Does the HP Pavilion DV6-6c53cl RAM speed of 1600 MHz support?

    Hello:

1600 MHz memory can work in your laptop, but it will only work at a maximum speed of 1333 MHz, which is the highest speed of the processor and chipset can work memory to.

  • Speed of Ram DDR3 X120e! Photos!

I have a question about the speed of the actual ram in the Lenovo x120e. Mine came with only one of 2 Go DDR3-1333 (PC3-10666). When I got it, I ran CPU - Z to see what that memory actually ran to, because I had 2 x 4 Go DDR3-1066 (PC3-8500) to an old laptop that died and I wanted to use it in the x120e. CPU - Z detected the ram in DDR3-1333, but what intrigues me is the actual speed that the memory is running at, 269 Mhz. It is with the trendy power and maximum performance settings, first, I thought would downclock the RAM while on battery to save energy. This is not the case.

Screenshot of ram DDR3-1333 original below.

    http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7130/originalddr31333.PNG

I then installed the 2 x 4 GB DDR3 - 1066, the system started very well and works very well. Here is the screenshot of CPU - Z.

    http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/844/ddr31066.PNG

As you can see, the speed remains the same (highlighted in red). Also the timings (blue) are identical to what the original ram turned to...

So my question is, why the speed so low and why is Lenovo DDR3-1333 for shipping in the x120e when it looks like its clearly not necessary.

PS. If anyone can launch CPU - Z on their x120e and see what their ram works at, it would be appreciated for comparison. Here is the link: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

    Thank you!

The E - 350 APU is capable of using the DDR3-1066 (see page AMD for reference: http://www.amd.com/us/products/notebook/apu/mainstream/Pages/mainstream.aspx#3)

As to why CPU - z reports 269 mhz instead of 533 mhz, I would assign cela a bug in CPU - z. With the help of HWinfo32, good speed of 533 mhz RAM is reported (http://www.hwinfo.com/download32.html). Here's what HWinfo32 reports (I get essentially the same CPU - z screen like you do)

You have of DDR3 RAM which means Double Data Rate.  The 666,5 MHz you have listed in CPU - Z is the clock frequency and DDR3 RAM works on both edges of the clock, where DDR3 (Double Data Rate).  As a result, you get 666 multiplied by 2 (DDR) MHz or 1333 MHZ.

Your system is normal and the RAM runs at max speed.

  • Mix-up on speeds of RAM

Hi, I have an m9150f with 3 GB of memory and I would like to upgrade to 8 GB using 4 x 2 GB OCZ RAM:

    OCZ 2 x 2 GB

My product page says that the speed of memory supported is PC2-5300 MB/s (667 mhz) here:

    HP m9150f

Yet, my motherboard says that he supports PC2-6400 MB/s (800 mhz) here:

    IPIBL-LB Benicia-GL8E

Also, I wanted to know whether or not the ram that I buy is ECC. I think it doesn't have ECC.

    Thank you!

    Hello

You might want to consider other than OCZ on this upgrade.

OCZ has no compatible memory guaranteed for your model of PC.

Critical, on the other hand,. Here is a link to some gmemory modules compatible 2 GB of guarantees for your Crucial PC.

Kingston does not either guaranteed compatible modules for your system.

I understand perfectly your desire, or rather, preferably for the use of OCZ memory. I use it for my own game systems and our room TV PC in ASUS motherboards.

  • The processor speed and RAM for Hyperion 11.1.2.3

    Hi all

Can I know where I can get the information below:

For example, we are 4 dev servers. Installation modules: Foundation, Essbase, FDM, ODI, Planning Reporting

for 50 users, how can we calculate RAM, processor, processor speed how?

    Documents or articles as well.

    Thank you

    Mady

Not wishing to be too dismissive but it's one of these "how long a piece of string fo do I need?' type questions."

The memory & processors will depend on the size and complexity of the applications/cubes resulting.

As Essbase is always subject to a single processor by cube of pork, it is best to go for high speeds (3 Ghz +) processor more quanity of carrots for an essbase server.

As a rough starting point I would usually put up on about 4 servers each at least 16 GB of RAM and 4 cores of each. However, you can get everything on a single server if he;'s spec is good enough and your cargo will be light (dev purposes).

If the app is great, or reports strong he might need for more servers (Weblogic applications horizontal scale) or more of memory.

  • Run at a higher speed of Ram instead of recommended Ram

    Hello
    Toshiba stay that I use a PC2-4300 DDR2 533 MHZ Ram.
It would be good if I put it in a DDR2 PC2-5300 667 MHZ Ram?

    Hello

As I see you have Qosmio G30-204. Laptop friendly. I like it a lot.
Back to your question: If you mark KINGSTON and list of recommended and compatible modules, you will find that you can use 2 GB 667 MHz Module.

This RAM also has PA3513U-1M2G part number and reading information on http://www.memoryx.net/pa3513u1m2g.html your question should be answered.
