Calculator HotSync Button on Tungsten E poster

When I press the HotSync (Star) button on the screen, the calculator appears on the display.  I tried a soft reset in the hope that it could solve the problem, but I always get the calculator on my screen typing vs button mode HotSync.  Everything else works on my tungsten - whatever ' an at - it ideas?  Thanks for your help.

Press and hold the star icon and see if a list opens.  Choose the program you want in the list, and it will link to the icon.

If this is not the case, open your Prefs icon and go to buttons.  Check out what's on each one.

but don't use scene for navigation information (in your actionscript code).

  • HotSync does not start with new Tungsten E2

I put my old camera Tungsten T2 with an E2 level.  Following the upgrade instructions, I implemented the E2 last night and let it charge all night, then tonight made a final with the T2 HotSync and run the installation program on the CD supplied with the E2.  At the time when the installer asks me to press the HotSync button on the USB cable I did and Windows came the notice in the system tray as a new USB device and the Palm handheld device was ready to use.  After that, nothing.  A minute or two later the E2 expires and he said that "the connection between your device and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your configuration and try again. »

I tried to reinstall the software, upgrade to Palm Desktop 6.2 from the web site, and then restarting the computer several times, but I can never get the HotSync Manager to meet the E2.

On the other hand, the HotSync Manager will always synchronize with my old T2.

Palm Desktop is running on Windows XP.  I was using version 4.1.0, which came with my T2.  For the E2, I tried versions 4.1.0 4.1.4e and 6.2.

I want to emphasize that Windows XP in turn is running in VMware Workstation 6.5 on Fedora 10 many (Linux 2.6.27.12 - 170.2.5.fc10).  Last Sunday I tried start Windows XP natively (which was a royal pain since I have hard drives to do so), installation of Palm Desktop 6.2 he and HotSync.  This configuration has worked insofar as the device is able to connect to the computer.

Unfortunately only synchronize my to-do list and some 3rd party programs; He lost all of my notes, contacts, calendar of events and photos.  But that's another topic.

  • Tungsten E don't hotsync on Windows 7

I run my Palm Tungsten E (bought in 2005) using the HotSync Manager 4 without problem.

I just got a new HP laptop and tried to install the HotSync Manager, the drive did not have software to do the installation.

I downloaded HotSync Manager 7.0.2 to try to resolve the problem. The result is the same - HotSync does not work and NO error no message to tell me what may be the problem!

Did anyone had success turning a successful HotSync the Tungsten E Windows.

I also have an old Tungsten E and now a new laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. I finally understood how to synchronize so here's my story.
Already said that it works by infrared, so I bought an infrared adapter USB 7780 MOSCHIP (www.conrad.nl) and downloaded driver win7-64 www.moschip.com and installed the infrared adapter.
I downloaded Palmdesktop 6.22 including hotsync 7.02. I also had to download and install additional conduct for Outlook2007 which I am running.
Next: setting up hotsync to my Tungsten E account. First make a user account. It's a little tricky because this isn't the username under network parameter, but the name that appears in the upper right of the screen if you synchronize. I also had to cancel my password I got into serious trouble syncing asked a password, although I never had a password configuration in my Tungesten E. go to prefs - security - and cancel your password.
Then in the hotsync Manager filling out what Sync (contacts, calendar, Outlook etc.). And then connection sto Infarred and network!
Then set up the connection, placing my infrared USB adaptor near the mt Tungesten E IR. Then go to prefs, connection and I thought choose IR for PC/handheld, but the later which proved to be wrong, so I created my own custom "IR Paul" connection and the connection to the PC and via an infrared connection.
Next to the prefs - network - service Untitled, username in my case "psalverd", "password" and connection to the IR Paul. Fact
The Star then tab on the PDA but cancel immediatelt as Tungesten E then well that you put in place to connect with IR tries to connect to usnig a home/cable station. Yo see the Hotsync on your PDA saying menu "hotsync last date-time" with Paul IR. Its the Hotsync icon in the middle of the screen and hotsync tab will now run. On your PC, a window opens showing the progression of your timing, will soon launch a password (no) and then starts the synchronization really.

Hope my story will help someone else. As I'm not a very literate PC users that perhaps not all correct, but it worked for me.

  • HotSync W tungsten

    Hi all!!

I hope that I was not only a very valuable lesson on announcement of backups on HotSync my Palm.

My Palm crashed recently (I think the battery died in my Palm constantly try to activate the mobile option, and it is not connected to a network, or used). The problem started really once tried to hotsync my data in the PDA.  Ago that I had put the synchronization preferences to handheld overrides desktop (you can see where this is going) when my PDA charged finally back up again, it was empty, and of course I plugged in and click the hotsync button, not even think I had reset synchronization... options and so replaced all the information that was on my computer... not realising what I had done , I synced a few times, trying to figure out what was wrong and what was going on (overwriting all the files backup).

Is there a way to recover these files

If you synchronize once, they can be recovered. If you synchronize more than 1 hour after you realize that the data is missing, the data are missing.

You can try the steps below to see if there is any recoverable data. Right-click on the files and find the size and date of the file.

You can recover data from your user folder as long as you only Sync once with the PC when you discovered the missing data. When synchronize you with the PC there are files created for each category of PIM in your user folder. For example; datebook.dat or appointment (according to the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak.

The files are named .dat and .bak. When you synchronize, the current data is stored in. dat. The next time that you synchronize the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.

    http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=26674

    Here's another link about the loss of data;

    http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=39503

The best way to backup your data is to use the export function in Palm Desktop. Create a new folder on the desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Then, select the category that you want to export. You will get a window asking you where you want to save the file, save it in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select the record currently selected, or all, select all. If you do not select all, only the highlighted record is exported. You will need to name the file for export then I suggest the name of the category, for example: calendar (with the current date). Do this for all the essential data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the desktop of the computer, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD - RW. With this method, you will have your data in a separate place than Palm desktop and the device. If 'Lose you' data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.

Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export data to the folder created for the backup.

    Here is a link for other options for backing up your data;

  • HotSync fails to start with error message

I'm on a Palm Tungsten E2 on a desktop and a laptop with Windows XP Professional: I regularly Hotsync my Palm on the two, always selecting 'no action' for the system. Unfortunately the last time, by mistake, I chose for this option "Desktop replaces Palm", and, since then, Hotsync does more: pushing the Hotsync button I immediately get the message 'SystemMgr.c, 4038 Error launching application online. The reset button does not solve the problem. Same launch Hotsync in the Applications Launcher. Data on the Palm are unchanged and everything works very good about it, but I can't sync more wiyth my PC.

    Any suggestion? Thank you

I just paid how to solve my problem. In my post, I said that Reset did not help. I should have specified that reset "smoothly" did not work. I did a Hard Reset, removing all the data on the Palm and Hotsync now works perfectly. I recovered all the data from the Dekktop.

    Thanks for your inquiry.

  • No hotsync

I still use my old Tungsten E2. I had installed version 3.1 Manager on my old machine (I still have the disc). I installed it on my new machine... does not work

I downloaded 6.2 - seemed to install ok, but he doesn't have a hotsync. Deleted and installed 4.1. Installed quickly and cleanly, but won't always sync. I get all the standard s 'bong', but the Unit indicates a connection could not be established.

I'm on Windows 7 Edition home premium. My username seems to fit properly. (I get a device driver not found message when I plug in the Palm, but I tell myself it's because Windows always thinks everything is plug and play).

I'm something basic missing just? Why it is not syncing?

    Thank you.

    No, thank you.

I had trouble loading device manager, as Windows 7 dialogues for Device Manager are not as described... but the help file in the zip driver allowed to get by.

I also had to keep hit the HotSync button on my device so that Windows detects long enough for me to load the driver.

However, I have them loaded and synchronized to the device, so...

    Thank you!

    7. click on the button "Update".

    8 calculator reset

Note: If a step fails, please proceed to step 3

Please, do not update your HP Premium using Parallels on a Mac Desktom.  I tried and the drivers of USB Port would not allow the update completed successfully using HP Connect, the Update.exe program or the application of usbtool.exe.  I managed with the help of an old laptop on XP using the USBTool.exe application using a native PC environment.

I will say that I am running OS X 10.10 Mavricks Beta 2 on my MAC, but I don't think it's a problem, although I will know Parallels.

If you use a MAC, borrow a PC (ugggh) to update your first HP.

  • What is the best solution to use a Palm Tungsten 2 on a Windows 7 computer?

Pushed by the end of XP, I bought a workstation HP Z230 running Windows 7 Professional.   I would get my Palm Tungsten 2 work, and I've heard several options here on that.

    Options

Use Palm Desktop 6.2 with Bluetooth for hotsync.  (I've done this with a laptop Win7, but I use the Notepad utility a lot with a few macros, which is unfortunately not supported on Desktop v6.2).

    B. use Palm Desktop 4.1.4 in a virtual Windows XP environment running under Win 7.  I know that I can do, and it's probably my rescue.  However, Microsoft suggests that you disconnect from the Internet when you use the virtual XP, as it can be sensitive to piracy because they support no more than XP.   This will be a further nuisance that I will probably forget to do.

    C. use the USB Aceeca driver to make Desktop 4.1.4 work.  I tried following the instructions here to do, but when Hotsync fails, he never appears as a triangle yellow in the Manager list of devices, even after I followed the tip to make visible hidden devices.  So I could not even try the Aceeca pilot with Palm 4.1.4 again.

    D. install the Aceeca Desktop 4.1 and update their driver.  I might try this (uninstall Palm 4.1.4 and install Aceeca 4.1) but it seems that it depends on the same procedure to update the driver as my option C just above.  So I think I can run in the same c dam.

    Issues related to the:

Someone at - it other ideas of how to get connected to Palm Desktop 4.1.4 Aceeca driver I could try?

Does anyone know if Aceeca Desktop supports the installation of Notepad if I try the D option?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Eureka!

I have now received Palm Desktop 4.1 to run on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and showing all the modules with my Tungsten T2 and without locking.

The breakthrough was all the things above (including run them as an administrator) and adding to it, turn off the power of user access control, as suggested in another post unrelated by Dean (aka WyreNut)

Here are the stops to run Palm 4.1 (not 4.1.4) on Windows 7 and synchronize with a T2.

    A. install Palm Desktop 4.1.

    B. when it tries to Hotsync and fails, look in the Device Manager in Control Panel and look for a reference to Palm with a yellow exclamation point in it.  Note: This palm reference appears only during a Hotsync.  Therefore, look right after a failure.  NOTE: If you do not see this device or the yellow exclmation point by it, you will probably need to uninstall Palm Desktop and start again.

    C. follow the instructions to install the driver of Aceeca instead of the Palm pilot.  (This is covered elsewhere on this site.  You must already have the driver downloaded and unpacked Aceeca and on your computer so you can navigate to it).  This should enable Hotsync to work.

    D. right-click on the shortcut to the program Palm Desktop 4.1 and go to the Compatibility tab and click on where it says 'Privilege level' and check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator."

E, go to the control panel and disable user access control.  I didn't find this by going to the Control Panel, so I searched help and got the information.   There is a slider control and who slide down.  You will then need to reboot for it to take effect.

After doing all these things, I am fortunately HotSync with my Tungsten T2 with its Palm Desktop 4.1 original.

  • synchronize a Tungsten T5 to Ubuntu

Anyone had any chance to sync a Tungsten T5 with Ubuntu?  When I press the hotsync button, nothing happens until the pda comes to expiration and said to check my installation.  I tried all the options, but nothing works so far.  Is there something special that needs to be loaded into Linux first?

  • Don't Palm IIIc none liked HotSync under WinME

Several years ago I was given a Palm IIIc (in his original box) which the owner no longer wanted. I installed Palm desktop on a WinME computer and had no real issues running Hotsync. I use the Palm almost exclusively to run a business application that I developed for internal use.

Recently, I decided that I should update the application (especially just the data set used, in fact, not the code itself). But I was doing mixed "cannot connect" and "lost connection" messages and now all I get "cannot establish a connection.

    A couple of other facts:

-It's been almost three years since I tried to Hotsync anything (the last time I have updated the soft, actually)

-the WinME machine had problems with hard drive and I had to reinstall the operating system in its partition (the disk is divided into several partitions, and so several logical drives)

Here's what I've tried so far:

-Reinstall Palm Desktop original. Shows HotSync icon in the taskbar and the Task Manager indicates that it is running. After pressing the Hotsync button on the cradle, however, nothing happens on WinME. After a bit the Palm IIIc beeps and shows one of his two messages

-Update Palm Desktop to version 4.14. Same (lack of) lead, even though I had to change the default of USB to serial connection before I could be certain

-unplugged the power brick and leave the cradle not powered for awhile. When it is plugged in, same result (lack of)

-install the original Palm Desktop on a second hard drive (the machine has two hard drives now, each with a copy of WinME in a logical drive.) So that only one drive is connected at a given time, however). Same result (lack of)

-reset the Palm IIIc. Same result (lack of)

-a pencil eraser new to clean the contacts of the Palm IIIc and the cradle. Gee, they are more clear now, but same result (lack of). Also, after that, I noticed that the bottom of the cradle around the Hotsync button was quite warm enough. Don't know if that was the case after any previous repair attempt.

My thoughts at the moment are running in the sense that the COM port is somehow wrong, or the serial cable does not get a correct contact with the connector on the motherboard (but he did before, so why not now?). Software, I'm not at all clear on the 'property' thing or if Hotsync really cares yet about that (I can say the name that appears under "owner" on the Palm IIIc is my first name and the first letters of my last name - do not know why the last name isn't here)

    I'm not quite of ideas:

-get a USB-serial converter and launch Palm Desktop 4.14 under WinME

-get a USB-serial converter and run some version of Palm Desktop is the best for Windows XP (I have a laptop that is running Windows XP)

-partition the hard drive of my computer (64-bit) of WinVista, install WinME in the new partition as a dual-boot option, run the original Palm Desktop using the serial port on the computer

Any thoughts on which (or quite other things) may be more likely to succeed?

It seems that I finally managed to transfer my update on my Palm 3 c application. It seems that do the same thing again and again wait something different to happen is not as crazy as some would have people think.

I have clean the contacts on the Plam 3 c and the docking station with 70% isopropyl alcohol. I saw a few recommendations for 90 to 95%, but 70% is all I had on hand. Almost the same result (lack of).

Because side PC Office wake up for a moment, even if it never got past the first step (no username never showed up, for example).

Other support button hotsync got zilch.

But I had seen this now a couple of times before. The common denominator in all cases, is that the Palm 3 c has been out of the cradle for several hours. When it is placed on the base, the first attempt to hotsync caused a reaction on the side office, but no attempt after makes.

I don't know why this might be important. As far as I know is I put the two 3 c Palm and Hotsync Manager at 9600 baud (common slower speed), the Palm 3 c out of the docking station for hours six or more, put it at left back, pressed, press the hotsync button and watched the awakening PC side and start going through her routine - and this time without stopping.

At least for a while. HotSync did not actually finish. My app has been downloaded first, but the log shows that, after that several apps integrated tried to synchronize (some did, some do not have), and after that the Palm 3 c tried to download copies of everything he had installed on the PC. He has managed to download several, but not all of them - "lost connection" again.

I love really on it, partly because I already have copies of everything. I don't like that I finally had my app downloaded update. Because I don't really have a rational explanation, I guess now I have a superstition to follow when I want to download an app!

  • OK, another window 7 HotSync approach for legacy T3

I read a lot of threads on this forum, but simply could not find a solution that corresponds to my case. I tried an apparently plausible approach, but don't have enough to work. I wonder if the gurus out there can give me a pointer or two.

I have a T3, I can only use up to Desktop 4.1.4 not something higher. If some of the workarounds would not work for me.

My new laptop is a Windows 7 Home Premium, but it of a good deal and does not have bluetooth or infrared port to speak of. Once again, an another roadblock for me.

While I was thinking, how about a network HotSync via my old Windows XP which has the network connection to my new Windows 7 laptop?  In other words, T3-> USB-> Window XP PC-> for Windows 7 laptop.   I HotSync would be on network in the past before, so I think I knew what I had to do.

BUT the ONLY problem I have is, how to create a USER in the first place on the Notepad of Windows 7 for hotSync launched across the network knows how to 'home' to the main computer?    In the past, I had to hotSync on the main computer to create the user before I can hotSync over network.

    Any idea?

Ramon, thanks to again raise this matter.

Reb1, thanks for letting me know the availability of the 64-bit driver!

Here is the link for the 3rd new 64-bit driver that works for my T3 on Windows 7 on USB:

    http://forums.Palm.com/T5/Windows-HotSync/64-bit-Palm-Desktop-drivers-are-here/m-p/337516#M58035

    1. I installed the Palm Desktop 4.1.4 on my Windows 7.

2 when you are prompted to HotSync at the end of the installation, I plugged in with the PDA cradle and press the HotSync button.

    3. I heard the beep signifying the USB device has attempted to commit, but nothing showed on the screen.

    4. I then followed the outlines the steps in the link above, and everything worked as described!

OK, for completeness, here are the steps I took to step 4 above:

4.1 I downloaded and extracted the driver 64 bit Aceeca site through the link provided in the thread above.

4.2 I opened Device Driver and found "Palm device" with a yellow warning icon.

4.3 I right click on it and select "Update driver".

4.4 I navigate to the folder where I extracted the drivers

4.5 after the driver has been installed successfully, I HotSync would once again and voila!
