• Recovery using the floppy disk or SD card M200

  I am posting this in the hope that it will help other people seeking to use the CD/DVD recovery, but without a bootable CD. I want to thank the forum Toshiba of TabletPCBuzz.com http://tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=22 for the inspiration of how it was done.

  1. you'll need a floppy drive or an SD card over any type of CD player. If your M200 is not working properly, you must also have access to another computer to prepare the floppy.

  2. you will need to download a software: IsoBuster
  http://www.IsoBuster.com/
  and WinImage
  http://www.WinImage.com/
  or similar programs.

  3. put the CD of recovery in any computer and start IsoBuster. Click on Bootable CD on the left and then on the right you should see a file .img size 1.41 MB on the right. On my CD, it's called harness Boot Record.img. Right-click on it and extract the file. Close IsoBuster

  4. open WinImage and then file/open the .img file. This will be your disk with all the drivers on CD you need to boot. The disc, ensure that the floppy A: use is checked then Disk-write disc. Close WinImage

  5. connect the floppy and CD drives to your M200 and boot from the floppy. It will take time to find the CD, but it will and you will eventually get the recovery screen.

  That's all! If do not have a floppy drive, but have an SD card and a work M200 then Toshiba SD card program will put the .img on the SD card file and you can then start from there.

  There is a good chance that this method works for other Toshiba laptops, but I can't verify this.

  (2) Toshiba, PA3402E-1DV2, Rev.501, USB 2.0 DVD Super Multi Drive,
  (3) Toshiba, PX1055E-1NST, (Freecom drive), with a PC Card (16-bit), II, PCMCIA, cable
  (4) Toshiba PX1055E-1NST, (Freecom drive), with a BUS of the CardBus CARD, cable II

  When you install recovery image remember that this external device has enough power. I recommend to use the external power supply AC for ODD (if available).

  I also found some information, you can use:

• QuickTime issues

  Hello, do not know if anyone can help. I had a problem I tried to address online, but I don't see that anyone has the same problem. I can see there are similar problems, but none of the answers seem to have helped.

  I'll start from the beginning...

  Downloaded a movie free editing program called Hit Film 3 Express (HF3E). Some of my files imported in GoPro and once I started to edit, the videos have been very nervous (late) and impossible to work with. I had a peek online on what format should I convert my MP4 video files in, and what I have read, DNxHD was trying to be my best bet. So I have downlaoded some called EaseFab transcoding software. I tried to convert the files to DNxHD, everything seemed he had worked, but when I tried to import them into HF3E, he said well that the files were not recognized. As I already had a program that converted video in .avi, I figured I would just remove the program EaseFab. That's where I think things may have gone wrong. It is interesting to note that before EaseFab had been removed, the .avi files worked on HF3E (though still nervous).

  When I ran HF3E (I think for the first time), I received a message saying that it was impossible to connect properly with Quicktime. That's when I realized that the .avi files, I had tried to use were more accepted by HF3E. I clicked on the Quicktime Player to start and got the messgae "Please install Apple Application Support". I did, and once I tried to install it, I got another message saying "New Version of the Apple already Support installed on the computer."

  Did some more research online and this is where my question other iffers. All other requests seemed to be on iTunes not working correctly and the display of these errors; my iTunes works fine. Some responses tried anyway. Managed to separate the Quicktime installer into sections so I can get the specific Instalation of Apple Support folder. Still have the same error message. Noticed, there was something on the forum about amending the Regestration file. I followed the instructions online and did what he said (to search for Apple Application Support and reset some fields to 0). In the forum, I read, this seemed to resolve the situation, but of course, mine still does not work.

  Can't see anything else about the issue online, so I don't really know what else to do. Any ideas? And advice on how to make my laptop run smoother for video editing or what file format to use?

  My laptop is an Asus X53S - processor i7, nvidia Geforce GT 520 m, Windows 7, 4 GB memory and 500 GB HARD drive.

• Simple network share problem

  I suspect that it is an easy problem to solve, but it gives me a bit of pain. I am running windows 7. I have a folder that I share on my network (for the sake of examples, lets call this 'Film' folder). I want to access this folder on the same network through my laptop partners without success.

  Here is the run down. The network is in the same apartment. The computer with the shared folder is a wired PC, and mobile partners is wireless. My folder is shared to everyone - read-only. I can say that it is properly shared when I look at the network folders and see those that I put up for sharing. When I look at network connections on my partners laptop, I see the PC appear on the laptop. Everything seems fine until this point.

  When I select the PC on the network, I get a prompt to enter a user name and password. I don't know how to solve this problem.

  I do really not use a user name or password on my PC. So how to create this other account?

  Yes, you do, but you can now be unaware of it because you or someone else automated logon process. Here's what you need to do:

  1. Open Control Panel, and then double-click user accounts.
  2. Make a note of your user name. It is part of your identity!
  3. Click change your password. When you share files, you must have a password.
  4. Set a password. Keep it simple, for example 123456. Save paper!

  Post again if do not want to enter the password for each connection.
