Can I delete this folder?

Greetings,

When I installed PSE12, the following file was created:

%UserProfile%\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Elements\12.0\

The folder is empty. Is it safe to delete?

Thank you

Shane.

Hi c_Shane,

Thanks for posting on the Adobe forums.

This folder is the default location of your project, but if you do not save anything in that you can remove.

Kind regards

Sandeep

  • Can I delete the folder titled "Old data from Firefox" which appeared on my desk?

About the old folder of Firefox that strangely appeared on my desk - then - I delete it? I like a clean house. Didn't read where someone asked this question and got an answer. He has been there since March 10, according to the properties button. I just noticed it. But I don't want to delete something where I can lose the extensions or something else. If it is just a backup, can't just get rid of him. I don't know what to do with it anyway.

If you have not noticed any missing data after reset of your, you can delete this folder, but I think that it would be better to archive somewhere where it doesn't bother you. Perhaps to create a balance of things folder you will empty on new year if you don't need then.

  • I can't delete a folder. In addition, in some cases, I can't delete some files.

Using Windows Explorer (Windows XP) I can't delete a folder. (The data are not a program).

File attributes are set to "hidden files" and the folder is empty (0-byte and no files are in the folder).

In addition, the folder properties (and file) / attributes are 'read only '. When I uncheck "read only" and click OK, then look again at this, the box comes back to "read only with a check mark. (???)

When I try to delete the folder, the message says "no empty folder", and it won't delete.

Also, when I try to delete some files (in other cases) some people will not remove.

    Help, please.

The 'read only' box on issues is not what he says. ignore it.

A folder will not delete if it contains a locked file.  You will need to unlock and remove the file first.

"Some files" will not delete because they are locked - that is to say, they are in use by an application.  There is a utility called "unlocker" used to be recommended to correct this situation, but the download now includes adware that may be reported by your antivirus/antimalware dangerous application.

An 'empty' file that will not delete can be fixed if you run chkdisk.  Click Start > run and type the following command, and then click OK

    chkdisk/f

A window will open to inform you that chkdisk /f cannot be run while Windows is active and proposed to schedule a chkdisk for the next reboot.  Answer Yes and restart.  When chkdisk is complete, delete the folder.

The files that appear to be in use can be deleted by one or more of the following techniques:

    A. deleting a command prompt window.  You need to know the name of full of the file path.  For example, if you try to delete a file named test.txt that is located in a folder named Non empty folder on your desktop and your user name is NR16020, the full path name is C:\Documents and Settings\NR16020\Desktop\Non empty Folder\\test.txt

    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Use the del for the files command and the command rd for folders.  If the full path name includes spaces, include it with double spaces.  Using the example:
      del "C:\Documents and Settings\NR16020\Desktop\Non Folder\\test.txt empty"
'C:\Documents and Settings\NR16020\Desktop\Non Folder Empty' RD

    B. remove in safe mode.  To access Safe Mode, restart the computer and repeatedly press F8 immediately after that the power on sequence is complete.  If you see the Windows logo, you waited too long and need to try again.

    C. remove from a command prompt with closed Windows Explorer.  If the procedure fails because the file is locked, follow these steps:

    • Close all running applications
    • Open the Task Manager
    • Open a command prompt window
    • In the Task Manager process tab, right-click on explorer.exe, and then select end process
    • Open the command prompt window and follow the steps listed in point A above
    • In the Task Manager, click file > new task (run...), type explorer.exe, and then click OK

Try to use Unlocker to:http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtml this programs often works when the normal functions of remove Vista not work correctly.

If this does not work, you need to change the permissions and ownership on the file in order to have all the rights and the property (even on the inherited rights).  Then try Unlocker.  Here's the information to help you do.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista:http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/. To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To solve this problem with folders, folders takeownership or the reader (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html. To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

I can't delete a folder of my trash. When I right click on it, it permanently deletes all the files and the folders that I have here, however it is still there. It is not a big problem, it's all just annoying. Please let me know if you have a solution. Thank you!

  • "You need give the administrator permission to delete this folder?"

Windows 7. My PC user account shows I am administrator, but it is impossible to delete some files.  Get the message: "' you need give the administrator permission to delete this folder.

Yes, it is in the free version.  It is in the 'Tools' tab to the right part of the screen.  For best results, you should also get "rkill" (you should never download from bleepingcomputer.com - and ABSOLUTELY no PART ELSEWHERE), which is good to put an end to all background processes that prevent you to delete unwanted files and folders.

  • How can I delete a folder?

I have a few files that I need is no longer. When I try to delete them, I get this message:
The current order has no success. The e-mail server for the XXXXXX account replied: [can't} rename not supported in any of the conflicting directory permissions.]

    What does that mean?

I think it must be an IMAP account, and when you delete a folder, it means that a request is sent to Thunderbird to the server to delete the Junk folder.

Different systems use different rules for file names. Your server may have a bug, or it may deleting the folder generated a name that already exists, or which is not allowed. It is difficult to say.

It may be easier to go to the website of your email provider, log in to your webmail it and delete the offending like that record.

  • Can I delete my folder "music" once that my music has been added to iTunes?

I just make the switch from a PC to a Mac and I'm currently putting all upward. As someone who has never used iTunes before that I have a simple question:

I had a music collection of reasonable size on my PC in a folder called "music". I copied this entire folder on a hard drive external and then pasted on my new iMac tab music in the finder. Then I started iTunes and added the majority (but not all) of the music in the folder "music" from my iTunes library. Am I right in thinking that iTunes actually another copy of all my music in the iTunes folder, which means that I now duplicated a lot of music? If he made a copy, can I now delete the folder "music" original? I took care until I copied it all from my PC that all of my pieces is in MP3 format only, not WMA at all.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you.

Am I right in thinking that iTunes actually another copy of all my music in the iTunes folder, which means that I now duplicated a lot of music?

If you have the default settings, the answer is probably yes.  To be sure, right-click any track in iTunes, choose 'Show in Finder', and you will see what copy of a song file iTunes uses.

If you have another copy of the song file, iTunes didn't need, and you can remove at your discretion.

  • Webroot security found a file that is a threat to my system. Serial.sys Can I delete this file and download a new serial.sys or is this a file I do not have?

My malwarebites program keeps blocking a signal out to various websites... When I installed and ran the program of webroot it detected the file serial.sys as a threat similar to my system.  I'm assuming that this file is probably infected.  I guess my first question is whether or not, it is a necessary file?

If it is can I delete and download a new serial.sys?

    Thank you very much

    Hi John Sw140,.

Microsoft Windows serial should be located in the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers . This file serial.sys is safe and should not be considered a threat to the computer. The serial.sys process is part of Microsoft Windows and should not be removed or prevented from loading at each loading Windows. This could cause errors or Windows to stop working.

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: If there are several accounts of users present on the computer then do you disconnect other users accounts and try to delete the folder.

Method 2: If the method above is not enough you can start the computer in safe mode and try to delete the folder.

  • I can't delete a folder because I do not have the permission, but I am the administrator. It doesn't let me change the permissions. Help?

First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong place. I had no idea what section to post this in.
Today, I was using a program for the 'Minecraft' game called MultiMC and removing files that it created I don't have anymore, I came across a folder, I could not open, delete, or do something with. When I try to open it it says ' (place) is not accessible. Access is denied. " When I try to remove it, he said ' you must be authorized to perform this action. You need computer administrator permissions to change this folder ' (though, I'm the administrator - only account on the computer). It also gives me 'Retry' and the options to cancel, nor necessary. On properties it says "Unable to display current owner" and won't let me change the owner, even to the administrator. The file is 0 bytes in size, but I want to get rid of because I might want to remove the folder that it is in the future, besides I don't know if it's a virus or whatever it is. Please can someone help.
