  • Large Images in Windows Photo Gallery

I use Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. After the digitization of slides using a scanner Plustek OpticFilm to 10000 DPI, I am unable to open images in Windows Photo Gallery. I get this error - 'Photo Gallery can't open this photo or video. The file appears to be damaged or corrupted. »
The images are very well because I can open them with other applications.
5000 DPI images open fine. I hope someone has a solution.

    Hello martinw56,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Sorry, you have a problem with that!  Have you tried the steps below with respect to the scanning of a picture with Windows Photo Gallery?  Do you have in the past been able to scan pictures with your current scanner and upload pictures to the photo gallery?

Please let us know status.  Thank you!

    Scan a picture
    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/66c76a19-97e7-492d-b3bf-a9c574c81f521033.mspx#ex

Before you begin, make sure that you have installed the scanner to the computer and the scanner is powered.

    1.

Windows Photo Gallery by clicking on the button Start , allprograms, and then clicking Windows Photo Gallery.

    2.

Click fileand then click import from device scanner or photo.

    3.

In the window import pictures and videos , click the scanner that you want to use, and then click import.

    4.

In the new scan dialog box, click the list of profiles , and then click the picture. The default settings to scan an image appear automatically.

    5.

If you're using a scanner with a document feeder, click the paper size list, and then click the size of the image that you have placed on the scanner or click on the size that is similar to the image.

    6.

Click the color format list, and then click the color format that you want the scanned file to display.

    7.

Click the type of file list, and then click the file type that you want to use to save the scanned file.

    8.

Click the list Resolution (DPI) , and then click the resolution, in dots per inch, that you want to use.

    9.

Adjust the settings for brightness and contrast, or type the values that you want to use.

    10.

To see how the image will appear when it is scanned, click Preview. If necessary, change the scan settings, and then preview the image again. Repeat these steps until you are satisfied with the results of the overview. Some scanners may require that place you the image in the charger whenever you are scanning.

    11.

Click on scan. When the scan is complete, Windows Photo Gallery invites you to mark the image so that it is easier to organize or find later.

    12.

In the list tag these pictures (optional) , type a tag name, and then click import. Windows Photo Gallery displays the picture, so you can view, difficulty or organize.

  • Bad error message Image in Windows Photo Gallery

    Need help a.s.a.p., please!
A few months ago my Windows Photo Gallery has suddenly stopped working and a pop-up box is came (and is still). The TOP of the box says: WindowsPhotoGallery.exe - bad Image. INSIDE of the box, he said: c:\Program Files\Windows Photo Gallery\PhotoLibraryMain.dll isn't is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try to install the program by using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the provider of software for support.
Well, I can't find the right disc to reinstall Photo library (can you tell me who would be?), and if I don't reinstall Windows Photo Gallery, will I lose my photos when I uninstall the one I have currently here? I don't want to lose them, because I have pictures of my old grandson of 4 days, a grandson age 9 months and tons of other pictures.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Maybe the exclusive database is corrupted.

    Read the following article.

Stops Windows Live Photo Gallery (944221)
    answer or does not start
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/944221/en-us
(according to version, database can be
    Pictures.PD4, Pictures.pd5 or Pictures.pd6)

When you rename the file will force Live Photo Gallery to create
a new database on the next launch file.

Know that the gallery will be as it was the first time that you
open and some metadata and labels may be lost.

Your photos are not 'in' photo gallery... it accesses just
the files on your hard drive where they are saved...
    probably your pictures folder.

Try to go to... Start / images... and view photos.

There is a more recent version, now called Windows Live
Photo Gallery 2011.  Might be interesting to try to install it.

I use library windows live and am resizing of TIFF images that are about 50 MB in size. I want to be able to choose the size of MB, but the Application it in reduced connection between 2 to 4 MB. Should we accept the size?

If you try to reduce the size of the file to free up space on your hard drive...
changing the file format of the photos in JPEG format can be worth a try. That
will significantly reduce the size of the file without the need to reduce the pixel
    Dimensions.

  • Error trying to open .jpg from an SD card image using Windows Photo Gallery: this file format is not supported, or you do not have the latest updates of photo gallery

    =====================================
Just one question... when done scanning and recording of the scans...
you select the options to reduce the file size by compressing
    the photos?

If you have only a few of these scans... you could open their
one at a time in Windows Paint and go to... File / save as...
Enter a new name, choose a backup folder and choose .jpg.
This will create a new version of the same photo and I suspect
It will be compatible with Windows Photo Gallery.

Also... it may be interesting to try to install Windows Live Photo Gallery.
