Can I run Firefox on a Dell Windows 8.1 Tablet?

I just bought a Dell running Windows 8.1 5830 tablet. I hate Internet Explorer and you would prefer to use Firefox. It will work on this Tablet?

Firefox will run on this device!

Have a great new year!

Try to change the registry and check if it helps.

    1. go to "Start-> Run" (or press the windows key + R) and type regedit and click OK
    2. use the directory tree hierarchy to access the 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP\shell\open\ddeexec '.
    3. delete the registry key 'ddeexec '.
    4. Repeat for 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTPS\shell\open\ddeexec' (and any other protocol that you want to solve)
    5 repeat for 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL\shell\open\ddeexec '.
    6. Repeat for 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxHTML\shell\open\ddeexec '.

  • Can I run Firefox and Chrome separately on the same computer

I'm currently under Firefox and Internet Explore on my computer, can I change Explorer for Google Chrome and that run with Firefox?
Some articles suggest that they block each other

Yes, you can run Firefox and Chrome. However, we have to be the default browser. For example, Windows will need to know which browser to use when opening links in programs. Some programs can be coded to use only Internet Explorer, so it is a good idea to leave it installed.

    • Firefox: Tools-> Options-> Advanced Panel (general tab)-> (Select Select) always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup-> check now
    • Chrome: Key tool-> Options-> basics (tab)-> make Google Chrome my default browser

    Hi Alexander,.

Yes, use a second profile and - no.-argument remote in no default browser comandline or shortened. Post back with how you get where for more information

    Well done John,.

    See

With the help of several profiles is not something that yell us on this forum. This is I think seen as too advanced. But there is no certain dangers that you may accidentally delete profiles for example. It is however possible to backup profiles manually and that can be a good precaution to take. I strongly suggest you to follow this good practice (at least until you're competent enough to manually recreate and modify profiles)

    1. Used to use the slots offered by Firefox
      It is easier and safer

      • Always use an empty folder
Other subjects disappear when the profile is deleted
      • To nest within the other profiles
As stated above, remove mother, lose the child also
    2. Do not rename the profiles of school boards
Confused, the profile names and folder names mismatch
    3. Do not delete the profiles of school boards
Just remove shortcuts if it is not in use. Remove the evil and you lose cutlery, passwords & bookmarks etc.

    Uses of several profiles include

    • Trials, with own or temporary profiles
    • Different users, or the type of different work in the same OS account. Which may include different bookmarks files and/or a different set of addons.
    • Running multiple versions of Firefox and/or multiple instances of Firefox at the same time.

There are other methods of creating profiles, but the best is probably to use the built-in Firefox profile manager.

  • Firefox 17.0.1.4715 currently running on Windows XP SP3, I was asked to upgrade to Firefox 18, ran the update, asked to restart, gotten no restart and can not run Firefox

Installation has been apparently successfully, I got a prompt to reboot and says OK. Firefox 17 closed, but there is no restart. Attempts to launch Firefox to icons or start menu get no reaction.

The Firefox.exe in Program Files is the 17.0.1.4715 version. It will not run.

Avast antivirus (but I did a lot of Firefox updates before this installation and no conflict).

on this site, you can choose a download to the location you want: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ (again, it just to install on top of your current version and it will replace it)

  • I can't get out of safe mode when starting, and can not run the Setup program from windows XP in safe mode.

I have a XP box that would only start in safe mode.  I needed to repair windows, so I started updating reinstall option but to reboot it says it cannot run in safe mode then it tries to boot into normal mode but crashes - which is what I am tring to solve.  Now I'm stuck because the computer is now making a loop and I'm stuck.  There is no available recovery console, it shows just the installation restart then goes into the shot.  If I try to launch safe mode, that it says cannot run update in safe mode then restarts in normal mode, which hangs then.  I'm stuck.  Boy the days where I wish I could just make the prompt C:\.  Thank you.

You can connect your problematic hard drive to another PC to copy your important data, using a device such as:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16812161002

    or

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16812119244

I'm still not 100% convinced that you boot from the CD. Your Dell has the option of F12 to select a boot real-time device (as soon as you turn on the PC)? Also, remember that you have to "press any key to boot from the CD" when you see this screen! Of course, during a reboot, you start from the hard drive.

Even if you did everything by the book, a repair installation could easily 'loop' as you describe. But as long as your hardware is healthy, a clean install is done.

  • Can I run explore 32-bit on Windows 64-bit?

    Hello!

Compatibility and testing, I want to launch a 32-bit version of Windows Explorer on Windows Vista 64-bit. Is it still possible? And if yes, how do I do that?

I looked in the System32 folder and it contains the explorer.exe but it seems to be the 64-bit version. Is there another EXE stored in another place I can run, who is 32-bit?

Just to be clear, I mean Internet Explorer. I'm not interested in the answers that are interested in Internet Explorer. I'm afraid that with Windows Explorer, also known as the file Explorer in versions of Windows that came after Vista.

Correction! The explorer.exe is stored not in C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows. That's what I wanted.

I'll answer my own question here. I found the site with a tip on how to start the 32-bit version of Windows Explorer on 64-bit Windows.

    http://MDN.Morovia.com/kb/HOWTO-launch-32bit-Windows-Explorer-64bit-Windows-10610.html

He suggests creating a shortcut on the desktop and pointing to the following text:

    % Systemroot%\syswow64\explorer.exe/separees/e, {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

I know SystemRoot (environment variable) sent me to C:\Windows and SysWOW64\explorer.exe apparently is the 32-bit version of Explorer on 64-bit Windows. But do the/separate switches and / e? Can you explain or give me a link to the article in TechNet library or something where it is explained?

    Update

Apparently the switch/separate is undocumented. But the /e switch may not be relevant for Windows Vista, for Windows XP only.

    Here's what I found:

    Microsoft KB130510
    Microsoft KB314853
    Microsoft KB307856
Superuser - Explorer command line switches?

For Windows Vista, this should be sufficient:

    %systemroot%\syswow64\explorer.exe/separate

The separate switch is required to start explorer.exe as a separate process. If the 64-bit version is launched in any case, even if the 32-bit version of explorer.exe is stored to syswow64.

Where should I click to accept my own answer...? Well well... anyway... I accept my own response!

This is not quite accurate. 64-bit Windows 7 (which must be what you)
have) does not 16-bit, but Windows 7 32 bit programs.

  • Can I run Photoshop 5.0 on Windows 7

Can I use an older version of Photoshop (Photoshop 5.0 limited edition) on Windows 7? If this is not the case, what is the oldest version of Photoshop, I can run on Windows 7? I was in the graphic industry for many years, it is an older version that I had, and he will do everything that I need now that I use it not profesionally, just really like the program and want to use it for personal stuff at home.

  • How can I make Firefox open with Thunderbird (Windows XP) .eml file

I have a Web page that links to files saved .eml (stops Thunderbird emails as .eml files). When I click on the link Firefox treats like a file .txt (source of views). I want to use Thunderbird like Firefox helpers, but I was not able to find a way to do it. Browser.helperApps.alwaysAsk.force even setting to true does not have the open dialog box. Can I not manually add eml to the list of applications. Need help!

What happens if the server sends the .eml file as text/plain and not as a generic type such as application/octet-stream, which would force Firefox to download the file.

In this case there is not much to do about it to contact the site and ask them to change the content type for. EML files.
