Can I start 10.7.5 from USB

My mac pro book's fault if I need to run 10.7.5 on my mini from a USB key until its fixed. I have a bootable copy on this drive and can be seen in the menu "select boot disk". However, after selection and restarting, I always get 10.5.8 internal my drive. I don't want to upgrade my mini because of compatibility with old software. My mini has 1 GB of ram and a intel dual core, is at less than 6 years.

A Core Duo Mac Mini can boot from an external USB drive.

Problem is that 10.6.8 is the highest OS X that your Core Duo can start or be upgraded to.

    Hello

As far as I know, that you can only boot from the floppy USB (DOS mode) and sometimes the USB drive supported.

These are all the boot device options that you can use: USB-drive floppy/disk HARD/ODD/LAN
Unfortunately it is not possible to boot from the USB HARD drive or USB key

  • Flow 10 7 HP - Windows does not start, I can't get into recovery 8.1 because cannot boot from USB-HELP Please!

    Hi all, I'm new here!

I am (excuse me: has) with a stream 7

A few days ago, I tried to install Windows 10 TP renovation 8.1 with Bing. After a while of waiting, he managed, but unfortunately I have forgiven to in SSD Tablet hp drivers, thinking that they were not necessary. If the touchscreen, WiFi and all the other stuff has failed. After I've got collegated by OTG, a keyboard and a mouse, that I managed to use Windows 10.

Try to install the drivers, my fault, I opened a .exe from Realtek (perhaps for audio), Tablet asked to reboot and after that I can't access Windows anymore.

I tried to start Windows 8.1 from a USB key, but it does not start, the same even if I disable secure boot.

With disabled bitlocker Windows gives this error

In the start option, I set these settings

I put the USB in this way:

The stream does not consider the USB absolutely XD

If I turn on again the secure boot Windows gives this error (which 99% is caused by the .exe I installed):

Restart the flow some time with secure boot it goes in a menu (where touch screen works) where there are a lot of options to reset Windows, but none of them doesn't work. If I try to format in this menu it asks password for my account, but it does not accept the mine :/

If I try to open the collection (from volume button when it starts less) it gives this message:

    Waiting for relief,

    Thank you for your patience!

@fotogruia in my case, the indicated operating system was windows 10 and as I wrote it has worked well. Good luck!

    Hey Super,

I m not owner of the Satellite A350D, but you can check yourself:

  • How can I boot from USB - Portege A200

    Hello

I have a Portege A200 which is only a couple of years, but the hard drive no longer works. Initially, I thought that this was due to corrupt the boot disk record, but after trying to replace the drive hard (with two different readers), is showing a #0 IDE error when starting. So I came to the conclusion that the IDE controller chip is dead.

In order to get labour latop, I burned a cd with the ubunto ISO. It starts off ok but due have only 512 MB of RAM, the system is somewhat limited and nothing installed is lost each time that I reboot.

Now, I bought a 2 GB flash drive and installed ubuntu on it. My other problem is that there seems to be no boot from USB HDD or USB option in the bios.

The options I can think of are:
    (1) Upgade the bios so that it supports the start of memory stick (although no HARD drive so do not know how I could reflash the BIOS or if there is even an upgrade of the BIOS that would support this feature)
    (2) create a cd that starts the boot process then tells the system to continue the initialization of the USB key (this is possible and does anyone know where I might be able to get these software)
    (3) boot from CD but the use of USB to keep any recorded information / everything installs etc (I suppose that similar to option 2 except the cd would manage the entire OS and USB would just "extra" information)

If there are other options if someone may think I am happy to give them a go. Seems a shame to have to chuck to a laptop that is not particularly old, because the IDE controller chip has failed on the mobo.

I have apppriciate any help anyone can offer.
    Thank you very much
    Mark

    Hello

First I have to say that it of not possible to boot from the external USB device as USB, CD/DVD USB drive or USB HDD.
It of only possible to boot from the external USB FDD (floppy) disk

However, no opportunities for startup are clear, but I think that you misunderstood the IDE #0 error message. According to m that the IDE controller is not defective but only the new drive HARD is not compatible and not recognized by the BIOS.

There are different reasons for this problem
For the most part this error message appears if the HARD drive master/slave/c-salt settings are not correct.
Generally these settings don t need to be changed or switched on the 2.5 hard disks but some hard drives support a rider that needs to be fixed in the correct position. But I put t if your HARD drive supports this

In addition, the size of HARD drive isn't is not compatible could be the reason for these error messages!
I would recommend so finally communicating with ASP in your country to get a new, compatible HARD drive and see if the same error still occurs.

    Good luck

  • NB100 - How can I reinstall OS from USB flash drive

My laptop TOSHIBA NB 100 has no CD-DVD player.
Operating system is Windows XP Home SP2.

    Operating system won't start.

Laptop start not at all so I can't run any kind of test when I turn it on.

The thank you screen come on it says launch safe mode, the networking of safe mode, safe mode comand prompt or start windows normally. But no matter who I chose, that it does not start it only goes to Windows and looks like its starts but then shows the blue Windows screen & stays there.

So I want to reload Windows from my USB flash drive.
The BIOS boot sequence is the USB HDD - FDD - FD - CD memory.

What are the steps for loading Windows USB flash drive?

If that does not work then I want to connect another laptop with Windows CD in the CD - DVD drive laptop.
Will this work? The laptop will use the Windows CD in the drive of the laptop to load the operating system?
    How to make this connection?

    Hello

You usually have an external USB CD/DVD drive to boot from the Windows XP disc or the Toshiba recovery disc.

But there is a method that allows you to install Win XP using the 2 GB USB key.
This is possible because the NB100 BIOS supports booting from USB key.

    Pease check this Web page:

+ Installation of Windows XP using a USB Flash Drive.

  • T450 no boot from USB again, updates from start menu

    Hello

I just got a new T450 and manually installed Windows OS my company 8.1. I tried to find a way to activate the hardware encryption on my drive through Windows and I need to redo the installation (among other reasons).

I used a USB FAT and NTSFs key with a picture Windows 8.1, which works on the other PC. When I go to the boot menu (F12) and choose one of these USB drives, nothing happens, and just start menu resets. USB drives are listed and recognized but nothing DON'T get PAST.

I tried legacy and UEFI boot (I want UEFI) but the same problem persists. I tried to play with pretty much every BIOS setting I could, but it did not help! I managed to install this initially, why the system does not boot the boot from bootable USB?

Edit: It seems that if I have active UEFI only I can't start. Help!

    Beyond belief, frustrated

    Paul

OK, I forgot to enable support of start-up inherited... sometimes I'm my own worst enemy activation legacy enabled me to start.

None of this is really a problem Windows/Microsoft.

A1: Ask Dell and/or consult the specifications of Dell web/FAQ pages.

A2: The BIOS is not related to the operating system you have.  Turn off the computer, turn on the computer and immediately start typing F2.

    A3: Eventually--depends on the answer to Q1.

  • Can't boot from USB stick - Acer Aspire E15

I want to be able to boot from a USB thumb drive/key. There is no option in the Bios Setup to do this.
I will have to return to the store - the system, but what system Acer can I replace with to boot from a USB?

The configuration of the Bios is "InsydeH20".

For a start-up legacy startup options are

    1 USB HDD

    FLOPPY USB DRIVE 2

    3 USB CDROM

    4 ATAPI CD-ROM

    5 HARD DRIVES

    6 start IPV4 network

    7 start IPV6 network

This order was after I changed to make USB different boots at the beginning of the order in the case where one of them included a reference to the USB key.

Boot to the UEFI boot options are the same.

While research on the boot order to this response I tried again with USB connection to turn it on, and it loaded from the key without problem!

I simply do not understand what I was doing wrong before, but I've obviously screwed up.

Sorry to waste your time and thank you for your help.

  • Can't boot from USB on laptop Acer NC-V5-571. another boot enabled is bios and I tried option in W8

Can't boot from USB on laptop Acer NC-V5-571. another boot enabled is bios, but and I tried to boot from usb DVD etc. (starting from things that works on other PCs. I've set USB and DVD as a priority higher from startup in the BIOS. I get the alternative start menu, choose DVD or USB, but it starts just Windows 8.

I tried to boot from an external device in settings PC - general settings in the charming bar, but it starts off directly with Windows 8 too.  the DVD plays fine films, and if I plug the boot device dvd W8 sees them and their content because I expect too much.

Any ideas on how to boot from another device.  I would like to take at least a decent backup using Acronis.

Thanks in advance for any help

    Ted

Boot from an additional media under Windows 8, you will ensure that you have either disabled Secure Boot or changed to UEFI in the traditional mode.  The following articles describe how to do this.
