Can I use my Windows OEM product key on more than pc?

Windows 7 OEM on two computers

Hi, I recently built a computer and I bought a copy of windows 7 64 bit OEM OEM. I use it of course on the new computer, but I have a desktop HP with Windows 7 64 bit OEM on it too, I need to reinstall windows on the HP and I was wondering if I could use the HP OEM code, but the drive I bought for the other computer to reinstall. Thank you.

If the drive OEM from Microsoft is the same version as the key product you already have - Yes, you can use the other installation disk to reinstall Windows (example: the drive and the key must be Windows 7 Home Premium).

Note 1: You can only use the OEM key on a single computer, OEM can not be moved to another computer. You must use the key to your HP computer on this computer.

Note 2: You cannot use an OEM recovery disk that came with another computer to reinstall Windows - OEM recovery disks are only valid with the computer, with which he came.

Case of failure of the online activation:

Call Microsoft use the manual phone Activation

Note: If you always install Windows page enter your product key, do not enter your key and uncheck the "Automatically activate when online" then click OK/next to complete the installation.

1. start by clicking on the start menu, and then type: slui.exe 4

2. press enter on your keyboard

3. Select your country.

4 Select the telephone activation option, enter the number, do not select all options and wait for a person pick up, then explain what happened.

HP also has several options to reinstall Windows on their computer:

When restore you to factory State, it will be like it was when you bought first - all preinstalled programs will be installed. Everything you have installed after purchase needs to be reinstalled. This removes all the personal files on the computer, save them first.

How does the Windows 7 upgrade Option?

The Windows 7 upgrade Option is available through participating PC manufacturers on some PC and Microsoft on any purchase of packaged product Windows Vista. The Windows 7 upgrade Option applies to Windows Vista Home Premium, Business and Ultimate editions. Your upgrade to Windows 7 will be the comparable version: so you will get either Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional (upgrade to Windows Vista Business) or Windows 7 Ultimate, respectively. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Before purchasing Windows 7, follow these steps:

  • Can I use a number of product key finder instead of the number on the sticker to reinstall windows vista Home premium?

The sticker on the bottom of the laptop is half faded way so I don't have the original full product key number, the one I have from a product keys finder is different of course it will still work when you perform a full system restore?

If your Vista is pre-installed when you purchased your computer, you have an OEM version. The only correct product key for your computer is attached to your computer.

The game of product key that you got through the software 'key finder' will NOT work for you.

Contact the manufacturer of your computer. Ask what follows...

    1. a set of recovery disks. The cost is minimal, and the money will be well spent. You can use the set to restore your computer to factory State.

    2. ask to talk to a technician. Ask technology to teach you how to access your recovery Partition and use it to make the recovery of the system. They installed the recovery partition, not Microsoft. They know exactly how to use it.

The advice above do not require using the product key.

  • Re-use of Windows XP product key for Dead dv8000 Notebook PC in VirtualBox - Validation error

I have a dv8000 HP Pavillion dead that were running Windows XP Media Center Edition (32 bit). When I used the product key the first time with VirtualBox, it is activated. However, when I tried to activate again (today), I received an incorrect "Product key" error Is there a way to revalidate this product key?

PS: I used an HP recovery disk to install this version of Windows on VirtualBox.

It takes only to use the OEM key on the computer on which it was initially installed. The license is not transferable.

  • Can I reuse my Windows 7 product key if I'm throwing away the old PC?

Hi, the story is that several years ago, I'm building a custom PC. And buy an OEM of Windows 7 key online. Installed Windows 7, keys has been accepted and successfully activated. No problem ever since.

These days, computer has aged well. Some components are pretty obsolete, even hard is only 500 GB, which is surprisingly low to me.

I plan to build a new PC instead of the upgrade of it. It will be sold for parts for computers. My question is about my Windows 7 license. Old PC will never be used again, am I able to use the same product key to activate windows on my new PC? I fear that Microsoft may block the button for "multiple use" reason. Is there a formal procedure to deactivate the license to a PC first before activating it on another?

    Thank you

    RobiePAX

    OEM System Builder version:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • Why aren't windows to let me use my Windows 7 product key?

First of all, I got my download of Windows 7 Professional of Dreamspark since I am in college for IT and burned it to a disc. I got it used it once on my old computer to reformat and it worked fine. However, I just built a new PC and use a new hard drive instead of put in my old and now it tells me it cannot authenticate the product key. I really can't afford to buy a different product key at the moment, I want to pay for another but if I'm only using this CD for the 2nd time on my PC why I'm having this problem?

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

  • How many times can I use the Windows XP Professional key?

    Hi all

I know there are tons of answers there, but the answers are all different.

I bought two copies of WinXP Pro 3 years for $100 each.

Since then, I used the keys to many times since I had and have several different computers.
I would just format a model when I catch a virus if I get new hardware, etc.

I read on a forum that people can use the internet to activate about 30 times a button.
    Some say that only once.

What is the right answer? I know that I used it at least 5 times on each key.

Main reason I ask is because I want to buy Windows 7 and upgrade all my comps finally.

Upgrade from version and the full version of different in the activation process of Windows 7?
Since I have Windows XP Original, I would get the upgrade version, but if it is different from the full version, I would buy the lot.

    Thanks in advance!
    Mike

You can move a copy to the detail of Windows to another computer. You can not have it installed on two computers at the same time, however.
