Can satellite L350 - I use the the L300 recovery disk?

Mate has a L350 who is tired and unfortunately has no recovery disk. I could use my recovery disc for my L300 model or making worse it?

You can try, but may be missing drivers or it can BSOD according to differences in hardware.

You can run from the HARD drive recovery? Press F8 when Windows starts and choose the option to repair/restore.

Otherwise, you will need to buy a replacement for Toshiba recovery disc.

  • How to reinstall Vista (using the HP recovery disk) to my laptop HP that has a new hard drive

The hard drive failed on my HP laptop.  I bought a new hard drive (not HP) and loaded the HP recovery disks, but a screen will appear that says it is not compatible.  Can I use this new hard drive, or should I buy a hard drive for HP?

I looked at a few tech forums and from what I can tell, HP crashes their system you can't use hard disks of third parties.  To make a third hard drive to work (depending on the online forums), you will need to bring a technician certified in HP in order to run a utility of DMI (?) and "tattoo" the hard drive for HP use (estimated at close to $45).
I can't find a technician certified in HP in my area and Geek Squad said that they can do it more... my laptop is now an expensive paper weight, or there at - it another option (short of spending hundreds of dollars on the purchase of a new Vista + MS Office license)?

  • lost user account after using the windows recovery disk.

Help, please. I turned on my computer and found that windows vista could not start due to a currupt file.

I have tried rebooting several times without success and ended by using the samsung recovery disc to get windows vista to work.

I had to create a new user account and have been able to find my original account on the C drive but don't know how to restore it so I don't have start with a new account from scratch.

    Any help is appreciated.

Information, the original version of windows is now called windows.old and it is here that I want to use the user account.

    Hi Geek teenager,

Surly there is a way to restore the user account that is sitting in windows.old on the C: drive, instead of having to reinstall all the programs that I never downloaded?

Programs need to be reinstalled from the original media: CD, DVD, download, etc.

You can recover data from the windows.old folder, but not programs.

    Set up a new account.

  • Cannot complete the reinstallation of Vista on Compaq laptop using the Compaq recovery disks. Tried to restore disk oem and new close to identical road. Errors: 0xc00000e9 and 0xc0000189 respectively

With no unusual occurrence that accompanies it, our laptop was able to start and would not initialize anything beyond a screen B & W style BACK and gave the first error (0xc0000e9) on this screen. After several unsuccessful reboots insert us the Compaq recovery disks and crossed the recovery (only full optional with such discs.) At the end of the transfer of recovery (from DVD on computer), the computer tried to restart and reported the same error message. We have seen anything past the transfer of files and B & W on the oem disk. I think the oem HD is bad. Web-surfing suggested the error was associated with a hardware failure and the DVD drive seems to work very well I bought a new HD almost identical to replace the oem version with. Both are Seagate Momentus 160 GB at 5400 RPM drives.

I re-inserted the recovery with the new installed hard drive disks and it loaded and seemed basically completely install Windows (computer is restored running several times and showed the Windows desktop with sequential programs etc. facilities.)

To restart the final success, I received an error message in the sense of "windows could not install: Please restart the installation process" and the 0xc000189 error code. I tried again and the result was identical, including the error message. In the process the emblazoned shortcut labeled sunflower administrator with "locked" below briefly appears before the above error appears above him. Navigation on the Web seems to suggest I've hit some kind of security problem that appears when an oem auto-installer is used. He was never a password of any kind on the laptop of our family, if there is one, it should be of Compaq.

It's an authentic (not stolen etc) oem new install of Windows (the laptop is only 18 months old) and I CD code on the computer but not the case in the installation me I asked for it. I don't know what you looking for installation.

I'm very confused and any help would be appreciated. Compaq is saying it's a matter of Windows of course.

    Thank you

  • Can satellite L300-1AQ - I use the L300D recovery disk?

My son has a Satellite L300-1AQ equipped of vista. All of a sudden will load is more the laptop and automatic repair options fails too. There is a blue screen that appears, but only for a second when I try the repair option - then the laptop stops. We have no recovery disks.

Also, I have a laptop Satellite L300D-13 s that works well and suppose I could get a drive recovery- but prob diff drivers etc.

Can someone advise me how best to my sons laptop (Im not concerned about retrieving data as all saved already), but do not want to return to the factory settings including Vista. Do not know if using a laptop recovery disk is an option - instinctively is not as ever as simple as that.

    All advice welcome please.

    Hi mate,

I can t imagine that the Satellite L300D recovery disc will work on Satellite L300. The hardware platform is different, because a single machine is equipped with Intel CPU and the other with AMD processor, so there's a big difference.

In addition, in the worst case, it could be a hardware problem and in this case the recovery disk does not work

What can you do now? I think you have to options: either you install Vista from a disk of Microsoft or order you a Toshiba Recovery disk: https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

After installing the Microsoft disc, you can download all the drivers on the Toshiba site. Then you will also get back to factory settings, but it takes more time in the recovery disk because it contains an image which already all the drivers and tools are included/installed.

    I hope I could help a bit. :)

  • Satellite L350: What is the best choice: disk to reinstall or repair of F8?

    Hello
I have a fairly new Satellite L350 (5 months). I recently discovered a Trojan horse attached to program files for the AVG software. I got rid of the Trojan horse, done a restore to date before loading AVG in the hope that my system would return to normal. He still continues to be slow, Explorer keeps locking up and all kinds of weird things continue to happen! Ouch.
I have the recovery and the Application CD that came with my laptop. Do I use the recovery CD or should I try to fix everything using the F8 option? And if I use the recovery CD which files will I lose, normally? I tried to get a list of the applications that are on this drive, but couldn't find any info?

I spent most of the day save all my files on disk. I'm going to lose some paid downloaded programs I am willing to sacrifice, if I can get my computer love me once again!

    Any advice would be helpful.
    Thank you

    > Do I have to use the recovery CD or should I try to fix everything using the F8 option? And if I use the recovery CD which files will I lose, normally?

I advise to use the recovery disk because the recovery disk would be to format the whole HARD drive and will set the laptop to the factory setting.
If you have some viruses on HARD drive then the format of HARD drive can be the best option in order to eliminate all viruses and Trojans.

  • Satellite L450D - cannot use the product recovery disc

    Hello

I'm new to this forum and have spent 3 days reading this and other forums to try to solve my problem, I found a lot of answers, but none does not work for me so I'd see if I could get the thought some very great need help here.

Now, I have the problem that when I start the laptop the windows logo appears, then Microsoft corporation through the bottom and then the screen black with the cursor of Pentecost, I tried all possible starting in the bios settings and just goes back to this screen, I can t get no prompt or anything like that , I used knoppix and managed to transfer all the files I need from my external HARD drive, so thought I would not reset to factory settings with the recovery disk of the product supplied with the notebook, the disc never has been used or taken from the package until now is so in perfect condition of the art, so I put in the drive , start computer press f12 and make the primary boot CD, but all that happens is it says windows is loading files and get back to the dreaded black screen and a cursor.

    Can someone please help?

If you have the original Toshiba Recovery disk I assume you have older model laptop with Windows XP Home edition old. To be honest, it would be interesting to know is you.

In any case, out of curiosity but can only begin preinstalled OS in safe mode?
Enter the BIOS settings and set its default value initially. After ding this change BIOS boot order and place the CD/DVD as first boot device. Put recovery media in the optical disc drive, and boot up your laptop. While the laptop tries to start C press several times.

Usually, this should force your laptop to use ODD as the first boot device.
Long ago, I had similar problem and such combination helped to force the ODD to read the recovery disk and Windows XP Home edition recovery facility. Of course, I hope that everything is OK with your HARD drive.

    Please test and send feedback.

  • Satellite P500 - loop of reboot after using the Toshiba Recovery disk

He then goes to a loop

    (2) Toshiba banner saying please wait... Second installation may take several minutes. Pleae do not interrupt or shut down the computer!
    (3) Windows logo
    (4) close...
    (5) restarts and goes to 1)

It would be great if someone could help me with this.

    Thank you very much
    Softari

    Hello

I noticed the same thing on my Satellite P500, but I must say it s not a problem, it of quite normal. The computer will restart several times (10 times or more) to complete the installation.

You know that a lot of drivers/tools will be installed and some restart is required to configure everything properly.

So don t interrupt the installation of recovery, just wait a little longer and a coffee. Everything is done automatically and your laptop is reinstalled with the factory settings. :)

  • Satellite P105-S6197: how to use the system recovery disk

    Greetings,

I have a P105-S6197 and I followed the instructions on the recovery disk,

    1. Insert the disk or disk #1 in the drive.
    2. turn on your computer while holding down the button 'C' (release key 'C' when the display shows "Toshiba")

but these instructions do not work the computer starts just to the top normally and do never runs the disk.

Is there another way to get the disc to run so that I can completely reformat my computer to the way it was when it was first purchased.

    Thanks, Edana

I can provide the same information as codes for:

There are different options to allow booting from the CD/DVD drive.

One is the C key (you have to press several times) immediately after that the laptop has been powered.

The second possibility could be the F12 key.
It would start on the screen menu and then you may choose the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.

Last but not least, you can change the boot order in the BIOS.
The reader of CD/DVD (ODD) in the first place and the gaming laptop should boot from the inserted CD, bootable automatically.

  • my computer crashed and restored using the system recovery disk. I saved all the files using a .fbw format. I can't read. What should I do?

My computer crashed while updating. It's a double 4 year old HP desktop processor. I could get into the repair screen, but nothing would be useful. I backed up data (115 GB) using the tools available on a drive hard usb. They are under the folder MINWIN and meet 31 different files. All I get is the demand to put in the disc. I copied the last file on DVD, but it will not read it. All other recovery programs say there is no backup file.

I have backup, with an extension of FBW 32 files
    Help

    Hello

    1. are you able to boot to the desktop now?

2 have you tried to reinstall the operating system?
    3. what program did you use to create a backup?
    4. do you get an error code or error message?

According toOberwald, it seems that fbw files are generated by HP, not Vista backup tool. I suggest you to read the following article to restore files from Microsoft.

Backup and restore: frequently asked questions:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/back-up-and-restore-frequently-asked-questions

If you are not able to boot to the desktop, then I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Start in safe mode and then try to run the restoration of the system to a point before you install the update and check if the problem persists.
Step 1: Start in SafeMode in Windows 7:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2: System Restore:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/products/features/system-restore

    Method 2:

If you used a third-party program, and then try to restore using the same program and check that it works.

Also check the FAQ from HP or post the question on a forum of HP.

    Hope the information is useful.

  • My conputer stops suddenly when I was using the vista recovery disk, I can't use this disk to start my computer?

I tried using the recovery disk and tried to use a USB key to try to get it started but my computer still jumps her.

    Hello

    "It is not always shut-down.

It's not enough information to that is, if it stops at other times other than when you use the recovery disk.

"tried to use a USB key to try to get it started."

Have you changed the Boot order to make the DVD drive 1st in the Boot order if you tried to use the DVD player in your computer?

And to boot from USB devices, you must have USB Boot active in order to boot on your motherboard and also 1st in the boot order

    Read one of these methods:

    http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/change-boot-order-XP-Vista/

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

In a large number of computers, by pressing F12 at startup is a way to change the boot order.

And in these Forums, when a poster has issues with the manufacturer recovery media, the recommendation is to contact the manufacturer for the aid that the manufacturer provides this software.

    See you soon.

  • Cannot reformat using the Toshiba Recovery disk

    Hello
I'm not sure whether or not my question was published by third parties. Please let me know if someone had posted this.
    Here's my problem.

I put the recovery CD in the CD-ROM drive. Then I restart my laptop and press F12 and select boot from the CD-ROM. Then I come to a black screen where it says 'Windows 98...'

After some time, the failure message appear.

My laptop was with Windows XP and I don't know why the word 'Windows 98' appears. After failing, I try to go to the window and double-click the CD-ROM Setup and he says not can read any of the files on CD. The CD is used to reformat the laptop before.

    Is it the corrupt CD?

    Hey mate,

First of all, it would be interesting to know what laptop you have. Maybe it has been bundled with Windows 98 recovery disk I put t know.

Theoretically, it could be a problem with the CD. Try another disc and see what happens.
