Can't 2 TB of disk space on my 4.5 TB RAID5 array

Just bought a dell 710 - installed with a RAID5 array with active 4.5 TB of capacity.  Installed ESXi 4.1 and installed correctly.  When I add a data store, see ESXi total capacity of 4.5 to.  I created the first with a capacity of 2000 GB data store and successfully get 2 TB of space can be used for Datastore1.  BUT when I add another data store (by selecting the option of disk/LUN once again, identical to the first time), I don't have no options when I get to the step "select disk/LUN.  How can I access the remaining 2.5 TB of space.  I intended to implement 1.5 stores to and 1 TB of data but do not see how.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I tried to attach a file that is a screenshot of the 'properties' of the data store, which also indicates the total capacity of 4.5 to.

Welcome to the VMware forums communities. As you've found ESXi has a limit of 2 TB LUN. With many controllers, you can carve up disks in LUN smaller (which always extend across all disks).  In your case, you must create 3 LUN all less 2 TB (the limit is 2 to - 512 b therefore create LUNS that are less than 2 TB).

It seems that the system C partition is full.
You can move files such as mp3, images or the docs to the D partition.
You can also run CCLeaner to clean and remove the time stored files.
Its possible that there are some files/data on the C drive that could be deleted using CCleaner

  • How many times we can compress drive to save disk space

    * Original title: when you "compress this drive to save disk space"... ('C' properties, general tab... {Computer, properties of 'C'}

    Windows 7 Home Premium

Defragmenting a disk or file and compressing a disk or a file, are different processes. If you choose to compress a drive, it is from a service that is then configured to run whenever Windows is running. This service will compress the data 'on the fly' so that it will take less disk space (IE it has drive lower cost). And decompress it 'on the fly' when the read data is the queries executed.

Therefore, the disk compression on or active, it's on. It cannot be activated twice.

Disk defragmentation is something different. The details can become complex, but the idea is simple. When operating, it reorganizes the data on the drive so that it is each file with all togrether and in order (as much as possible). Also, frequently used files can be placed on the disk where they can access quickly. Thus, System defrag schedules to make time - to-time, when the system is not otherwise busy.

    I hope this helps.

  • How can I correct the wasted disk space?

I have a pavilion dv7 notebook with a 443g system.  I am to 9 g and do not know how to recover disk space.  I've done a disk cleanup and defragmentation of disks.  Nothing seems to work, does anyone know how to fix this?  Thank you.

Do a disk cleanup, this time, when cleaning window opens after scanning, click on the button "clean up system files", he'll re-scan, when the window opens again go to 'more options' tab, then click on cleaning in the section ' System Restore and shadow copies ", it will take time for that clean without any indication when it's done I usually watch the light of the drive to know. then click Cancel on all windows after about a minute.

    Hello

You have lost your time shrinks for difficulty D: C:

    Read this:

Your recovery Partition was photographed on your hard drive during the production of your computer by the manufacturer for all of these reasons.

    1. to reinstall Vista from in the case of a failure of the system, based on individuals or the keys at startup.

F10 or Alt + F10 or F11 are a couple of different manufacturers use sequences.

You will need to ask your manufacturer for proper sequence.

    2. to make the recovery disks on if your drive hard breaks down, so that you can then reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.

Also ask them how to make records.

Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..

There are backups on an external hard drive.

To resolve the problems that have arisen with the recovery D: Partition, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to remove all that has been added to it.

    See you soon.

  • Satellite Pro L40 - disk space to level critical

HI, for the first time the user and technically not much minded when it comes to computer systems...

I am constantly getting an alert Toshiba Tempro message indicating "data stored on one of your hard disk partitions now reaches 90% or more of its capacity" and a 74,52 GB total disk space, I don't have that 7,44 GB of free disk space - all I really on my system are Photos and ITunes - can they really occupy all this space? - And what I can do to get more disk space? -Any help will be appreciated.

    > Everything I really on my system are Photos and ITunes - can they really handle all that space?
No one can answer your question on this virtual path. How should we know how much data is stored on your partitions?
How to get more disk space?
Remove data that you don't need, or move it to another partition.
You can also move all your data to an external device like external HARD disk.

  • Remove MSXML programs safely to free disk space.

I have a Sony VIAO with windows XP. This is an old desktop computer and not my computer alone.  I try to free up disk space on my C drive and did the basics.  I'm looking to remove programs but I get a message that I don't have enough space to remove programs.  My question is under Add or remove programs, I show 6... Programs MSXML.  listed in this order... MSXML 4.0 (KB25672), MSXML 4.0 (KB927978, MSXML 4.0 (KB936181), MSXML 4.0 (KB954430), MSXML 4.0, (KB973688) MSXML 6.0 PARSER (KB933579).)  One of these can be removed?  Any suggestions on how to free up space in order to remove programs and not get the error message... "not enough disk space to remove programs.  I have an external drive that has LOTS of space.  Thanks for your time.

I recommend that you do NOT remove any entry in Add / Remove programs that starts with k.  In fact, you should uncheck the "Show updates" box in Add or remove when you go there looking for things to uninstall to create more disk space.

I have not watched all the items you list, but some (and I expect everything else) are critical security updates.

There are a number of things you can do to - temporarily - free disk space.  The only real solution, however, is to get a bigger internal hard drive.   You can move the data to your external drive, but if it's the data that you use frequently, slower access times may annoy you.  Therefore, I do not recommend that you move your My Documents folder in its entirety on the external drive, but you can certainly do this by following the related instructions.

    • You can run Disk Cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr > OK)
    • You can reduce the size allocated for the restoration of the system to about 1 GB (right click on desktop > properties > system restore > settings)
    • You can disable hibernation (if you don't use it) (right click on an empty spot on the desktop > properties > screen saver > power > Hibernate)
    • You can disable the indexing of the drive, which will also speed up your computer a bit (http://lifehacker.com/031440/turn-off-indexing-and-speed-up-windows-xp)
    • You can reduce the size of your Internet browser cache (depending on the browser that you use)

But none of these answers you will earn really large amounts of space for very long.  The term solution time is a bigger hard drive.

In the meantime, download and run JDiskReport, that will show you graphically what files take up more space and seem to so indicate what files you must move it to your external drive.  If you want to move an application, you will need to uninstall and then reinstall it specifying your external drive as the installation location.  You can not simply move the files.

  • Question: How can I change disk space for partitioned disks?

I'm having a problem using top too much disk space on my (vista) C drive on my satellite L500, now that I've filled with iTunes music files. I want to use a part of the E drive to 'Add' on the C drive space. Is this possible?

Also, could I just use the E-drive to add anyway, if I told iTunes to look for a few songs and C E for others? E has special properties like the recovery partition that can complicate things?

    Thanks if anyone can help!

    Paul

    Hello

1 delete all the files and unnecessary programs from the disk: C to the freed space.
    2. move all the movies, photos, music on the disk E;
    3. If you use the Download Manager to download files, you can change the path where to save the downloaded files in your local case: E

You can change the size of the partition in administrative tools in Control Panel. However, I prefer to use a partition manager paragon to resize partitions on my computers. Before add/create partitions, make sure that you have made a recovery disk.
