Can't choose updates to install

The search function only allows me to install all the updates, so I searched the Web site. In a first time, it allowed me to view the list and select the ones I wanted to install, but then I clicked to see more on an update and when I went back to the tab with the list, he told me to do through search again. The list has simply disappeared.  Now when I go to the windows update site, I just get the same message, use the search, which does not allow me to select.

Please tell me how to solve this problem.

Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are unable to choose which updates to install. However, you cannot update a Web site as it will be in the case of Windows XP and lower versions. Therefore, I suggest you to change the settings of your system Windows 8 and check if you are able to choose between the important updates:

  1. Open Windows Update by hitting on any fly in the right edge of the screen (or, if you are using a mouse, pointing to the corner bottom right of the screen, move the mouse upward), tapping or clicking on settings, tapping or clicking change PC settingsand then by typing or clicking on update and recovery.
  2. Click on change settings.
  3. Under important updates, select the setting download updates but let me choose whether to install them or check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Look for updates and check if you are able to choose.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need more help, we will be happy to help you.

    Start | Run
    Type

    What did he say?
With regard to this part of your message:
    3. I don't know if I will not that is why I ask you
Which is in contradiction with what you said in your original post! Specifically, you said that you need this update! But now it seems that you know not whether or not do you.
As a general rule, you should stay away from OPTIONAL updates. In other words, only install CRITICAL security patches. In case another program may need one of the optional .NET frameworks installed, you can cross that bridge when you get there. In addition to stay away from optional software updates, you REALLY need to stay away from optional hardware updates. More than once these updates of the liquidation interfere with the systems of the people!
Let's take a look at all your instances of .NET Framework:
Start | Control Panel | Add or remove programs
Check the box next to "See the updated". Scroll down. What .NET Frameworks are listed? For what it's worth, these are the ones I have:
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (it's the one that you have problems with)
    Which do you have?
Remember that a Service Pack is just a series of updates bundled and some added functionality. As you can see, there are service packs for .NET Frameworks as well as the operating system (Windows XP).

I have my options set for automatic updates of Windows. Display shows the default time as 03:00 (05:00 change), but I get updates without warning while using the computer. Can I receive a notification before updates, which gives me the opportunity to delay?

Is this happening because I log off and stop/computer network at night?

  • Windows installed the automatic windows update agent and I would appreciate help with the settings option in this newly installed agent update so no update never install or download unless I choose to do.

    Hello.

I have windows vista 32 bit home edition.

Today somehow automatically installed windows ' automatic update agent 747600226

I always keep my settings to check the updates but let me choose whether to update or install.

With this new "update automatic agent" which automatically installed on my system, I want to make sure I have place it properly so that it remains in the same way that I always have my settings but two settings (options), he checked, and are confusing for me to know what those checked settings will do.

I would like to help you with these settings to make sure that the update is still as I want.

Below chose correctly when the new program installed today.  That's how I still want the settings to be:

Look for updates but let me choose whether to update or install

Please let me know if I need to change all the options account required in addition to this update agent to ensure that only, I choose to update or install.

There are four options and a box is in two and I don't know if I should remove the check marks or not.

Here are the other four options that I need to know how to configure it so that only I have update/install.

Once again, the download automatic microsoft today (update automatic agent 7.4.7600.226) without asking for my incentive preset automatic update options and that's what I'm trying to make sure is set correctly so that nothing installs or updates without asking me or let me do.

Option 1: (this option is checked. If I leave it checked will be it install or warn me only?)

Give me updates recommended in the way I receive important updates.

Option 2: (this is not checked and am not worried about this one)

Allow all users to use installed on this pc.

    Option 3:
(this is checked and want to know if should uncheck; what I don't want is any what to auto install, but the wording of this option and option 1 are vague because of the "give me " so I don't know what it means or will do.)  If this box is left to it automatically update/install?)

Give me updates for Microsoft products and looking for new optional microsoft software when I update windows

Option #4 (this is not checked, and I am not concerned about this).

See the notification me detailed when new microsoft software is available.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Take care! :)

    Hello

The Windows Update automatically updates the updater (himself), regardless of your settings.

    1. Yes it will alert you so you can update or install.

    2. check if you need more of yourself (other users) to be able to select and install the updates.

    3. it will let you know when they become available.

    4. just gives the news of additional details about some of the updates.

Looks like you're ready for anything you like.

  • Can I stop a downloaded update to install when I shut down my computer?

My setting of update "Download updates but let me choose whether to install" I want to keep it this way. Lately, I noticed that when I click Start, stop, there is a small yellow exclamation point or shield on the close button and when you hoover over closed, he says that Windows will install the updates and then stop. It doesn't give you a choice.
Is it possible to stop without having to install the update until you know what the update is all about, that might not be immediately. Can go you to Windows Update and hide the update, that would be a pain in the neck, if there is more than one?
Or is it somehow a way to get rid of this or these until you are able to check and see what the update or updates are on?

    Thank you

    TomS

  • Firefox 9.0.1 "apply the update"? I can't get Firefox 9.0.1 to install and be usable by the other account on our desktop. as the administrator that the update is installed, other user accounts cannot get beyone 'Apply Update' - what is happening?

Sorry for the long question. The issue is that totally impossible to install Firefox 9.0.1, so it can be used by the two user accounts on this desktop computer. I tried several times to download the update and install when running the second user account. It does not seem to install - page 'About' Watch 'Apply Update' - which then seems to do nothing. When I go to the primary account user Firefox is fully installed and functional.

If files have already been downloaded, then delete the files in the folder of updates\0 and updates or you need to run Firefox once as administrator on each account where the files for the update has been downloaded.

You can also remove active - update.xml, or even updates.xml (stores the history of update).

I have a late 2009 iMac. When I tried to upgrade to El Capitan. He said that the CHIP shows the h/d is a failure and can not be updated. I have install an external withEl of h/d Cap but it is very slow. the h/d is USB 3 but the iMac's USB 2. the h/d is only 5400 RPM. a 7200 RPM 7 / would accelerate the iMac?

No, because the limiting factor is the computer is USB 2.0, which is how it connects any external drive apart the external drive. As USB 2.0 is much slower, there is no real advantage to a 7200 RPM drive. What you need is a Firewire enclosure that supports FW800 which is much faster than USB 2.0.

You can not. I would like to know as well. The current building is displayed in settings > general > all. When the phone offers you an update, it does not display the new version. One could assume that it is the latest available at that time, which at present is 13E237, but to my knowledge does not appear before the update.
