can't even drive without password startup screen

admin password screen appears before the splash screen! can not even change the splash screen!

It sounds like your BIOS password has been set.
If so, this has nothing to do with Windows.
You will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer and discover how to reset your BIOS password.

    • Or ask for help:
    • Ask someone with administrative privileges on the same PC to unlock with their key.
    • If your PC is connected to a domain (usually a computer from work or school), ask a system administrator for your recovery key.

  • Can't go beyond blue HP startup screen

In the hope of some help... I have a HP Media Center with Windows XP Media Center 2005 m7170n.  Met a virus last week (Redirected my research on the internet) and using Symantec Technical Support to rid the system of it and now my system won't boot.  On the power on the HP screen with bios v3.03 in the lower left corner and a few key options 'f' in bottom right is as long as the system starts.  These 'f' keys do not work when starting.  I have tried 2 sets of start-up/recovery disks - those that I did when the PC was new and the boot disks original HP that I purchased directly from HP just to make sure, I've had good recovery disks but system does not boot from either.  I hear the reel of DVD - Rom to the top, but nothing happens but the above screen.

He did start once and loading Windows because this problem occurred originally but that locks up and came back to the same screen described below.  Any thoughts on how to go beyond that and load an operating system would be appreciated.  I'm hoping to get my data/pictures/music off the hard drive and install a fresh.

This would be a hard drive problem?  I had an accident before, but it's hitting / clicking sound.  Not the case hear... and everything seems to work fine for a while when he did start once.  Assuming that it is a hard drive failure, it's that they anyone who can correct/repair hard drives or get the data out of them?  I have some photos of a recent vacation that I have would be cruelly you lose... and of course I had not saved their CD yet.

    Thank you all!

  • I can create "logical drives", but do not have an "extended partition" - listen to me?

    Hello

It's a no-brainer and I know not often asked the question, but I have not found a satisfactory answer. I use Acronis Disk Director 11 and have never had to worry about "extended partitions. I simply create "logical drives" when I reached the limit on the number of "primary partitions" on my drive. And yet everywhere you look, I find that I need to create the first "extended partition", which is defined as "an extended partition is a container that can contain one or more logical drives." It is the universal definition as every definition I've found the same bed. It's as if everyone uses this definition even without really explaining what an "extended partition" really is. All have made a leap of faith that that's all that needs to be said on the subject, even if not where is it explained what is this "container" and how it is created. Acronis made a reference to an "extended partition" in his glossary (if I remember) and leaves the matter as if it served no more utility. Someone explain to me how this "container" is created and why is it necessary I can create "logical drives" without ever invited to create an "extended partition."?

I can't wait to finally put this issue to rest,

    Thank you

    Perri 26

In the past, creating another partition, the other then primary school, said to the user that an extended partition has been created and then immediately in the process of user intervention to create logical drives in the breast of the space newly allocated.  Logical drives ARE essentially the "extended partition" up to a maximum of three in the extended partition on an MBR disk, and this is the limit of three in car that was important to know.

In some ways, the information given at the time was better because it gave the user a more understanding of the functioning of the system. Nowadays, the vast majority of computer users are not experts and do not know how it works. They just want turn on and go... :-)

    Evelyn,

    (1) I have an idea which may simply not work. Install the software of Western Digital's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics.

    (2) then select / click on the Seagate 2 TB of disk.

    (3) then click on the little icon above the list of player who scored "click to run tests.

    (4) in the popup windows choose the option "write zeros". Click 'Start' and select the fastest two write options who writes zero for beginners / before the command and at the end / last sectors on the disk. It will take about 2 minutes or less. Once the zero finished writing your drive will be in a State of 'Raw' (just as if you removed from the box for the first time).

    (5) open "Disk management", you should see a windows asking you to 'Initialize' the reader. Choose the MBR (Master Boot Record "option.

    Now try to install Windows.

  • Satellite Pro A40: Is it possible to format the HARD drive without disk

I am passing on a Satellite Pro A40 to a brother. It is in very good condition, but has slowed down over the years. I want to get rid of my data (I have on a new machine) and speed up the system by formatting the hard drive.

The machine didn't come with a disc for Windows XP, or a recovery CD (just a CD "tools and utilities"). I'm sure the drive HARD will be partitioned, and I can format the drive without such a disc.

If this is true, how should I do?
    Thank you.

    Hello

I can't believe that you do not have recovery media.
The laptop must be supplied with recovery CD, Tools & Utilities CD, and WinDVD.

    But back to your question;
If you insert a new HARD disk, you will need to use the Toshiba Recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Windows to install the operating system.
The new drive is not partitioned HARD and doesn't have any OS pre-installed!

If you n t have the original CD of Microsoft OS you can contact the service provider allowed in your country and you can order it.

    I hope I could help

    Good bye
