Can't open a pdf document

I had the trial for Acrobat XI.  The trial period ended.  I bought the subscription.  Now, whenever I try to open a pdf document, the first window opens and the pdf file does not open.  It is urgent and I need to open the document now.  If I can't solve this problem quickly, I'll cancel my recent order.  Help, please.

Hi Todd,

On the trial window you click on "Software license" and use your Adobe ID to update the licensed software.

The purchased subscription is linked to your Adobe ID

Kind regards

    usual how for Windows

    * run the uninstaller for Mac application (no not just trash)

If you're running Windows (which we don't know), you can try to use this tool first remove all traces of your computer:

  • Acrobat Reader DC works fine and opens a PDF file without problem - until I have a word document open as well-, then the PDF file crashes. I can't open a PDF file, a word document is also open.

Acrobat Reader DC works fine and opens a PDF file without problem - until I have a word document open as well-, then the PDF file crashes. I can't open a PDF file, a word document is also open.

For troubleshooting, you can disable the Protected Mode (https://helpx.adobe.com/reader/using/protected-mode-windows.html#id_94783) and see if that solves the problem. If the problem persists, please re-enable the Protected Mode to improve safety.

Let us know how it goes.

  • Windows 8 - How to open the PDF documents and start application Menu choices in the Office of current work?

I have recently upgraded to Windows 8 Professional.

A question that I have, is that whenever I try to open a PDF document, it always opens in a new window dedicated, with a totally black background.

Is it possible to open PDF documents on the desktop, so I can see the content PDF, on the same page as all my other apps open?

Under earlier versions of Windows, can I go to the start menu, then select all applications, and they are listed in the form of office, as all my other applications already open.

In Windows 8 Professional, I have not found a way to reproduce this behavior again!

It keeps taking me to a completely different screen.  The one who looks like he could have been created for use with tablets.

I hate this behavior on my regular PC and want to know if there is a way to use the old and classic views.

I don't want to open the application menu in a separate window.

So, two questions: 1) is there a way to open the PDF documents in the current working window?   (2) is there a way to disable the display of screen separate application and return to the old start menu request window, in the current working window?

  • Open a pdf document that has attachments inside on a mobile

I have a pdf file with attachments on the inside, I'm opening on a mobile device.

It opens correctly on my desktop, but mobile, attachments do not show.

    No idea why?

    Hi Willy,.

We have received your PDF document by e-mail.  Thank you!

We have reviewed your PDF document and discovered that two HTML files are fixed as annotations of the type "FileAttachment '.

Here are two ways to attach files to a PDF with Acrobat Pro (for example).

Method A: attach files and embedded files

    1. Open a PDF document.
    2. Open attachments navigation pane.
    3. Click the Options button.
    4. Select Add an attachment on the menu that appears.

B method: attach files in the form of annotations

    1. Open a PDF document.
    2. Click the attachment in the toolbar.

Acrobat Reader (for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone) mobile application support embedded attached files (added using the method) but doesn't support file attachment annotations (added using method B).  We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you have the desktop version of Acrobat Pro, you can perform the following steps to re - join the files using A method to avoid the problem of compatibility with mobile applications of Acrobat Reader.

    1. Open your PDF document with attachments in Acrobat Pro.
    2. Open attachments navigation pane.
    3. Select a file displayed in the attachments navigation pane.
    4. Click the Options button.
    5. Select Save the attachment to save the file on your desktop.
    6. Click the Options button.
    7. Select delete attachment.
    8. Click the Yes button to confirm the deletion.
    9. Click the Options button.
    10. Select Add an attachment to re - attach the saved to a PDF file.  (Alternatively, you can drag and drop a file on the navigation of attachment pane.)
    11. Repeat steps 3 through 10 for each file.
    12. Save the PDF document.

In this way, the portable versions of Acrobat Reader can open attachments.

If you do not have the desktop version of Acrobat Pro, you can try the free trial version of 30 days to see if it meets your needs.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Thank you.

  • Remove the component tools preferably set when opening the PDF documents

I was unable to locate a permanent function of Hide to hide "Tools Pane" overall upward.  I don't want all the icon tools displayed every time I open a PDF document. I want to just look at a full page of the document on screen and access the tools if and when I need them.

    Hoping someone can help me.

    Thank you

If you are using the latest version of Reader (Acrobat Reader DC), you can do the following:

    1. go in the Edit menu. then Preferences..., select the 'Documents' category on the left (the second from the top) and in the right, uncheck "pane open tools for each document. Press OK to dismiss the preferences pane.

    2. then open any PDF file and hide the pane tools by SHIFT + F4 or by clicking on the thin partition between the page and the tool pane.

    3 close the player.

In the next time on when you use the drive, you do not see the tool pane. You can still get it by clicking on the thin margin to the right of the display of the page (where the Tools pane will remain hidden) and activate it by activating the preference above again permanently.

    Hope that helps!

  • I can't open a pages document as he tells me 'index. XML file is missing?

I have an iMac OS X El Capitan

    1.4 GHz intel core is

    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

I can't open a pages document stored on desktop because 'index. XML file is missing. -What it means and how to overcome the problem?

    Hi Yulula,

The message means that you have two versions to Pages installed on your MacBook - the current v3.6 pages and previous Pages ' 09.

Pages ' 09 files are 'packages' and include the file index.xml "missing."

Pages v3 records in a different file format, one that does not use an index.xml file.

Pages ' 09 tries to open that file, where the message.

Exit Pages ' 09. Double-click the file, and it should open in v3 Pages.

If you would prefer to continue to use the ' 09 Pages (many people, due to many features supported in the ' 09 Pages that are not is v3 Pages), then for this file and others that have been opened in page v3, you can open each in v3, and then export the file in the format of Pages ' 09.

    Kind regards
