Can upgrade you a PowerEdge 2800 with a PERC 5 or 6 PCIe RAID controller?

Hello

We have many PE2800 servers which are always good, but will not support Windows Server R2 2012 wanted to believe in the presence of the PERC 4e/Di controller. So it is possible to disable the on-board PERC 4e/Di controller and install a PERC 5/6 card PCIe (connecting to the bottom of basket)

Has anyone already done this? Sorry if this has been asked before

Thank you

Simon

There are not. Microsoft more support SCSI from 2012. Sometimes the drivers of Windows 2008 R2 can operate, so you could try to download the drivers from Dell 2008 R2 and see if 2012 will accept those.

Another important note: 2800/2850 supports not all processors with VT, so you will not be able to use the Hyper-v Server. At best you can run the virtual server or a similar alternative such as VMware Server or VirtualBox (but this may require decommissioning of the OS that I'm not sure 2012 R2 you can install one of these). If they do not install, they will be limited to the execution of virtual machines with only 32-bit operating systems.

Need you at least a 2900/2950 to have VT and have the ability to run x 64 VMs.

  • Can upgrade you XP to 7 with the upgrade of student in VMware?  I can't make it work...

    Hey guys,.

I'm having a devil of a time with this... I have XP on the partition boot camp, as well as a computer virtual created from it.  I just purchased the upgrade to the Windows 7 home MS student, burned the ISO to a bootable disc, and now I'm stuck.  I have a MBP 13.3 (5.5) running Snow Leopard and VMware Fusion 3.  I tried to start my computer the DVD, only to have the installer of Windows 7 tell me that it doesn't have the correct drivers.  Well, then I start completely in Snow Leopard, open to the top of my bootcamp with merge partition and I can't seem to start from the DVD here, or in the virtual machine either.  So I'm stuck, what am I doing wrong / is there a way and it works?

    Thank you!

Win 7 coming to be superimposed on a XP installation isn't a good idea.  You are better to destroy your Boot Camp partition and install a clean copy of 7, Ditto for a new virtual machine in Fusion.   Keep in mind Apple has not released the Boot Camp for Win 7 drivers yet, but the plan at the end of the year.

For the installation of an upgrade disk, you can do this by entering is not your product key during the installation and the next article Paul Thurrot Clean install Windows 7 with upgrade media, if you have only one disk to upgrade you will need to interrupt the use of your XP machine by the upgrade license.

  • Can upgrade you 5.1 to 5.5 ESXi host using the zip file?

I read the KB articles which seem to indicate that, to upgrade an ESXi host, you must use a vSphere Manager or an ISO on CD or USB.   But I saw someone go from 5.1 to 5.5 by downloading a zip file and running the commands, as indicated in http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 2008939.

It is perhaps the only way to get it online.

"As long as the battery is concerned, I was told that when the battery is only one branch that it will release the current configuration and start cut line."

It will not.  The RAID configuration is stored in a NON VOLATILE memory.  Disconnect the battery will clear the memory VOLATILE of the controller, which is used only for write cache.

"Regarding the location of the reader, what the raid controller tells me.

Just to clarify: the system EACH time it starts, when the charge controller, that none of the logical drives are found?  And there is no message indicating how you choose/use/save a configuration do not match?

If you know disk 9 is your RAID 0, you can try power off, removal of all readers (hold that which), insert the diskette 9 on the slot 0, then start CTRL-m, configure, view/Add... If you are prompted to choose between the drives and the NVRAM, choose drive, then save to the output and try to start the operating system.

If it does not, I would start thinking about data recovery or restore from a backup.

  • can upgrade you vista Home premium to vista professional in order to install windows 7 Professional upgrade?

Husband bought the windows 7 Professional upgrade.  Of course when it did not work and the message was to do a "clean install", we both had type light headed as we thought it that will take all day and probably does not work smoothly since is the most "literate" computer.  I did some internet research and according to microsoft, windows vista business upgrade to windows 7 Professional is an upgrade and not a clean install.  Is it useful to try and uprade my 64-bit edition windows Home premium windows vista professional in order to upgrade to windows 7 Professional?  I don't think we can get our money back because the packaging is open or I would say just that we trade it for ultimate.  If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.  Also I don't know even where to download vista business or haow only as much as it would cost.  Thanks in advance.

N ° there is no way to go from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional OR Vista business without what you call a 'clean install', so there is no point in spending money to upgrade to Home Premium to business before the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional.  Upgrade Vista Home Premium only allowed on-site is ultimate.

Use Windows Easy Transfer to keep your files and settings.  Then, start the computer with the Windows 7 dvd installation and moving forward.  Do not remove Vista.  Windows 7 upgrade installation should detect a copy installed Windows so that you can use the upgrade product key.  Once you reach the installation type selection screen, you will see the upgrade option is grayed out.  Choose the custom option to continue.

If you want to do a clean install, you can use the tools on the installation type selection screen (until you click on custom) to reformat, etc., but this is not necessary if you don't mind remove the old Windows folder later.  If you start with a blank hard drive your upgrade license will be a problem then don't attempt is not a clean install of the old way.
