Can we run a 64 bit os on a server esx guest in vmware workstation?

Hello

Can we run os 64-bit on an esx server that running as a guest in vmware workstation?

Thank you

lol you can run 32-bit nested VM, but not 64-bit

http://communities.VMware.com/docs/doc-8970

VMWare products as guest hypervisors

Since the products current VMWare does not virtualize the virtualization features assisted by the physical processor hardware (or controls segment limit of 64-bit AMD processors), you will be limited to the execution of 32-bit only nested If you use a binary translation under ESX as the guest

hypervisor.

  • Windows 7 64 bit host works very slowly after discontinuation of VMWare Workstation

I am running 64 bit Windows 7 on a Dell laptop with an i7, 6 GB ram and VMWare Workstation 9 processor. Everything works well on the host and the VM, while the virtual machine is powered on but after the suspension of the virtual machine and station work out of the system host becomes very slow and applications become desensitized. This lasts for several minutes after the stoppage of work. In general, I have executed only a VM at a time, but even when I got a couple of them run both the host system and they are very sensitive. I started the task with great difficulty Manager when this occurs to see if I can see problems with the free time of processors and memory use, and everything seems fine. So far all my research turned discussions about this kind of problem during execution of the virtual machine so I am at a loss to know even where to go next to make this diagnosis.

    Kind regards

This is because windows is the collection of memory the vmware used in the system and marking of these blocks of memory piece by piece as 'free '. If you shutted down of the virtual machine (not paused) then the memory can be returned to the system immediately. I guess if it was caused by the Intel RST driver because I noticed about there is also no question AMD computer used by my colleague.

  • Can I run explore 32-bit on Windows 64-bit?

    Hello!

Compatibility and testing, I want to launch a 32-bit version of Windows Explorer on Windows Vista 64-bit. Is it still possible? And if yes, how do I do that?

I looked in the System32 folder and it contains the explorer.exe but it seems to be the 64-bit version. Is there another EXE stored in another place I can run, who is 32-bit?

Just to be clear, I mean Internet Explorer. I'm not interested in the answers that are interested in Internet Explorer. I'm afraid that with Windows Explorer, also known as the file Explorer in versions of Windows that came after Vista.

Correction! The explorer.exe is stored not in C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows. That's what I wanted.

I'll answer my own question here. I found the site with a tip on how to start the 32-bit version of Windows Explorer on 64-bit Windows.

    http://MDN.Morovia.com/kb/HOWTO-launch-32bit-Windows-Explorer-64bit-Windows-10610.html

He suggests creating a shortcut on the desktop and pointing to the following text:

    % Systemroot%\syswow64\explorer.exe/separees/e, {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

I know SystemRoot (environment variable) sent me to C:\Windows and SysWOW64\explorer.exe apparently is the 32-bit version of Explorer on 64-bit Windows. But do the/separate switches and / e? Can you explain or give me a link to the article in TechNet library or something where it is explained?

    Update

Apparently the switch/separate is undocumented. But the /e switch may not be relevant for Windows Vista, for Windows XP only.

    Here's what I found:

    Microsoft KB130510
    Microsoft KB314853
    Microsoft KB307856
Superuser - Explorer command line switches?

For Windows Vista, this should be sufficient:

    %systemroot%\syswow64\explorer.exe/separate

The separate switch is required to start explorer.exe as a separate process. If the 64-bit version is launched in any case, even if the 32-bit version of explorer.exe is stored to syswow64.

Where should I click to accept my own answer...? Well well... anyway... I accept my own response!

  • How can I run a 32 bit support software on windows 7 64-bit OS?

I want to run the software Microwind 3.1 lite on my windows 7professional 64-bit operating system. But it is not compatible with the version of windows. It works fine on 32 bit OS W7. Is it possible to run on the 64-bit platform?

I'm curious to know regarding if it can be a 16-bit program (which works a lot on 32-bit operating systems, but not on 64). Have seen no info on Microwind website.

Try the Compatibility Mode with the option of Windows XP. You can also try the XP Mode, which is a virtual machine that is running Windows XP 32-bit. Furthermore, VirtualBox or another virtual machine software would work.

    Hello

I read in this forum on the issues of 64-bit Vista.
It seems that all users were able to install the Vista 64 bit OS on Toshiba laptop computer, but they were not able to find 64-bit drivers.

In fact, the Toshiba provides all 64-bit drivers. for Vista or XP.
Why, because Toshiba laptops were not delivered with any 64 bit OS.

  • Can I run a 32 bit AND 64 bit Windows Vista on the same computer version?

I have laptop SONY VAIO 64 bit and a new digital microscope that has a driver 32-bit. I can't the microscope to work and it is not a driver 64 bits for the microscope. Their tech support suggested the installation of a 32-bit version of Vista on the laptop. Can I do this and still keep the 64 bit version of Vista as my main operating system. This suggestion is practical or even possible?

    Hello

You can double vista 32-bit and 64-bit on your computer

BUT you would need to BUY the 32-bit operating system vista to install it

    and Microsoft sells more Vista

    they switched to Windows 7

and what you want to do with your time if it's for work, because you will constantly change the operating system to use if you use 64-bit for most of your work

I am running Windows Vista family in a workstation with 2 GB of RAM, 1.2 Ghz Intel Core Duo. I would like to run Virtual PC to install Windows Server 2008 R2. What do you think it will work ok?

    Thank you.

You * can *-really, the question is "Why would you?" because the server would be limited (severely) by bothe, VPC restrictions and those of the home edition. This is a configuration of (very) not supported.

So not the areas and very limited display features.

Many of you also on the low side of the RAM in the configuration or vice versa - I recommend at least 3 GB so that you can didicate at least 1 GB at the prompt, and still have room to move around in the host. You can allocate the guest at best - even if WIn7/ServerR2 is less expensive RAM than Vista.

    Hello!

I'm absolute novelty in this frame.

Sorry may be a stupid question.

I downloaded the workbetter application and put it on my server web apache.

When I start, I get then.

    Screenshot from 2015-12-20 01:58:34.png

    Hello Marley,

Not quite sure that what is happening with just by looking at these errors.  I went to the URL you show in the screenshot, and it seems you have things working fine now.

The WorkBetter application is a fairly complex application to try to draw lessons.  I recommend to read a part of Geertjan Wielenga blog posts on how start and watch some YouTube videos. It may be easier to get an understanding of how things are setup and then return to the application of WorkBetter to see all of these concepts implemented.

The hands-on lab on the examples of the JET site page is also a good starting point.

    Happy coding!

  • How can I create a Setup program for my project that can run on 32-bit Windows, if I have Windows Vista 64 bit?

    Hello

I did a project in LabVIEW that works perfectly and made an installer for it. I tried the installer on my own computer and everything worked fine. The purpose of my installer has been putting it on several computers. So I tried to do it on another computer that has Vista 32 bit and he told me that the installer cannot run on 64-bit computers. I tried to choose to install the 32-bit runtime and it has not changed anything, there was still a message to tell me that this Setup program can be run on 64-bit computers. How can I make an installer that runs on 32-bit computers?

    Thank you.

I have betieve you need to install the x 86 32-bit version on your PC too, and build an installer that.

    the bios is the last

and these bios options are set

    Intel VT enabled,

    ==============

I understand that when these changes are made to the host should be recycled to power...

This bios like many others after record changes usually f10, the changes are made and this server restarts

    is this normal?

don't know what means VMware by power cycle

I have disabled you options to see if I get an error that I saw the jpeg format

(called) when the vt is disabled in the bios

He talks about power cycle the host,

I have the new option that was just to see if the vmworkstation was reacting to the bios actullaly.

    It has been.

    all this should be good as the tool VMware-comments 64check - 5.5.0 - 18463

    I installed vmware workstion 8.0.4 on windows 2008 x 64 sp2 build-744019

then I installed esxi 5 all right

I get the error message #.

    I also put this line

and should it be done before that Esxi is installed in the workstation 8?

or is the line of editing out of place now?

Line editing is not relevant for your situation, since your CPU does not have the characteristics necessary for the virtualization of hardware support virtualized.

First option get a processor that supports the corrrectly but if Intel specs are misleading where should I start... ???

None of these processors will help.  You need at least a CPU E55xx for HV virtualized.

Option 2) now on this bare metal Esxi 5 with this current processor can I install 64-bit clients? (guess I'll try soon) but I would like to know... all ideas welcome...

    Yes, no problem.

No, he would not have to be identical.  No matter what CPU Intel x 64 of this vintage, or later would be compatible with EVC (well well, with the exception of Atom).  You need only an identical processor for tolerance to failures.
