  It is a wrong answer to the question. QuickBooks 2010 cannot be installed from the CD because the CD tries to install Flash and Flash is already built into Windows 8. The solution is to download QuickBooks from Intuit web site and install the downloaded version. It installs without problem and works very well.   In addition to the above answer, even if your computer supports booting from a usb key, based on my experience, it is easier to use a cd rom. usb Flash drives can be very difficult to use to install windows. I did a couple of times but not without problems. If the computer you are using is able to boot at all, and you do not have a cd rom USB that you can try to install windows over the network.  Install windows from a flash drive is a long process. $30USD for a usb CD-ROM.
