Cannot access files on disk hard when it is used as external drive (sata)

My motherboard in my laptop died. When I put the HD in an external enclosure and plug it on my desktop through the external SATA it appears as a disk and I can access the files in public USERS but when I try to access the files under my user name it is said that they can not be opened. Y at - it some way around that. I just want to get my photos and my things off do not use the drive. Can you help me?

Appropriating the files/folders:

1. right click on the file or folder and then click Properties.
2. click on the Security tab.
3. under group or user names, click your name to see the permissions you have.

To open a file, you must have the read permission. For more information about permissions, see what are permissions?

As you can guess, this is a permissions problem.  Here, it makes a difference if you have XP Home or Pro you have to safe boot mode to change permissions in the House.

My crystal ball says that your external drive is formatted with the NTFS file system.  When you connected to Windows 7 (or any other computer besides), the files have been added that this user permissions apparently understood that only Win 7 has access to.  There are several ways to handle this...

Is to save on all your files and reformat the external hard drive with a FAT32 file system and then support files.  You will have no problems of permissions with FAT32, but you can't have any higher than 4 GB single file either.

Another way is as an administrator, to 'Ownership' of all the files on the disk
"How appropriate a file or a folder in Windows XP"
but this could get old if the drive moves back.

Yet another approach is to give "Everyone" full access to everything on the drive.  This may or may not protect against new folders or files added, but may be worth a try:
As a user administrator, open a command window:
    Start-> Run-> "cmd".
    Then, enter the command:
    CACLS E:\/t/e/c/g everyone: F
(where I am assuming that your external drive is mounted as "E:" - change of real player)

I hope that something more top is useful...

Unlike Windows XP & Vista, Windows 7 does not include a default email Client. [What were thinking?]

You will need to install a (e.g. MS Outlook;) Windows Live Mail; Thunderbird) , and then set it as a default for mail in CUSTOM (<>) article in Set Program Access and defaults of the computer , then restart your computer before any function send to or MailTo will become available.

Best practices MMO. Download music and heavy files on disk hard users?

I just downloaded a Hello Kitty MMO application to search (for my kids of course).

  • Why raw of Sony DSC-RX100M3 air files strange in PE9 when flash was used in the shot?

I just bought a camera Sony DSC-RX100M3 and use in RAW + jpeg.  I want to use in my Photoshop Elements 9 raw files, having the Camera Raw plugin version 6.5.0.216 installed. I downloaded the Adobe's DNG Converter 8.7.1.311 version so I can import my Sony raw files into EP 9 because they cannot be used directly. Most of the time these files raw look OK, but when I use the flash on my camera and then look at the raw files in PE9 they seem much more pink than jpeg files. Jpeg files are more or less similar that I remember the scene when I took the picture.

When I look at the same raw and jpeg in Sony files have (version 4.2.04.17270) software Image Data Converter the raw and jpeg files are similar to one another and there is no colour pink cast in the raw file.

What I am doing wrong in Photoshop Elements? I have the DNG Converter retains all the information from the original raw file and makes no changes, so why not the raw file look so different when flash was used?

Thanks for any help you can give!

I interpret the differences that you see the difference between the Adobe Standard camera profile and that Sony made with the colors.

I can get things to look more like what you see in-camera jpg by simply changing the Adobe Standard camera to camera neutral profile on the camera Calibration tab.  I don't remember if PSE9/ACR6 has these available camera simulation profiles or if you has that Adobe Standard.  If you have the other, then switch to the use of one of them.

Here's what the image looks like in the last Camera Raw plugin 8.7.1 to PSE13 after having chosen the camera neutral profile that looks less magenta and more green as the JPG:

I think that part of your question is that you have mixed lighting where the light blue flash is mixing with some slightly more hot (incandescent) or (fluorescent) green color to the right side is hotter than the left side.  Apart from the differences in color, there is also a shadow in the foreground, perhaps caused by your sun visor that should be eliminated or your goal is too long to use a flash that relatives or something.

    Hi modelkit,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.

It seems that the problem is related to your support. To check if the media is corrupted or not, you can follow one of the following methods:

Method 1: Try to copy the files to another computer.

If you are not able to copy the files in another computer, then we certainly know that the CD has bad sectors which prevent copy of file.

Method 2: Run Xcopy to check if the disc is damaged or not:

    1. click on start, principally made programs, click Accessories and then right-click on command prompt, click run as administrator.

    2. type the following command line and press ENTER. In the command line, drive is the letter of the CD drive or DVD drive.
    xcopy drive:-*. * /s > c:\test1
If the XCopy process is not successful, the CD is damaged. Therefore, the CD or DVD drive cannot read it.

The corrupt media, you can try manually copy each file. This will ensure that most of the files is copied leaving only the files in the area of corruption.

When I click on it, I see the individual clips. I can not re - appoint these clips. They are

Clip #1 Clip #2 etc how ca label clips while remaining hard disk, before to do first?

    (2) I imported the files in the folder of the hard driveI first and then named the clips (with numbers).

When I open the project a) it says media is offline. so I have to manually link the media b) media other shoots

that have the same number or clip 00002 become confused and shows it to the top. Help!

Do not rename the files as a logging.

Copy them to folders separated from each card so that the file numbers are not incompatible. for example "rushes" map 1 "rushes" card 2 etc...

Ingest them in tubs of project same distinct file naming protocol.

Save the files using the Description field

  • Cannot access files recovery

I had to do a recovery my PC system and before, then used the program of recovery to automatic backup on my external HARD drive.

I have since then found my backup there and it extracted in a "System recovery files" folder on my pc. But it won't let me access it, so I can't copy their back or open up.

Whenever I try to open the file it says I do not have the necessary permissions to access the folder and directs me to the folder security options. Even if I am logged in as an administrator, I can't give all the permissions to view or edit the file.
