Cannot add 6 ESXi to vCenter

Hello

I hope someone can help, I'll through in circles!

I am using ESXi for years, but always as unique hosts. Recently, I obtained a license for vCenter 6 essential elements and put on the creation of a laboratory.

I have two ESXi hosts, a Mac Mini (192.168.1.0/24) and a Dell PowerEdge (192.168.10.0/24), the two v6 ESXi running. vCenter v6 is running on a virtual computer on the Dell Poweredge server and works. Can be connect/license/administer etc. Also, I added successfully to the Mac Mini to the new data center.

However, I can't add the Dell Poweredge server. Whenever I pass by the host process add I get the following:

"Unable to contact the specified host (hostname.domain.local). "The host may not be available on the network, may have a network configuration problem, or that the management on this host services may not respond"

Also, when I have RDP on the vCenter virtual hosting machine I ping the server Poweredge ESXi by IP, host name and the FULL domain name, but I can not connect to it via vSphere Client. However, if I use my laptop (192.168.1.0/24 range GOLD 192.168.10.0/24) I can correctly connect the Poweredge ESXi server.

Can I add a host ESXi, vCenter vCenter is running on this host?

Any help would be appreciated!

Can I add a host ESXi, vCenter vCenter is running on this host?

Yes, you can, but you must ensure that the appropriate network ports are open between ESXi and vCenter. VCenter Server both the ESXi (to PowerEdge) are running on the same subnet?

    I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem before, who could give advice how to fix them:

    Can ping both directions successfully - from vCenter Prod to the host of the pre-production

    no firewall between the two.

    902 port is open on the host

    Host connects to the pre-production vCenter on the subnet even fine

    VCenter production can add different hosts on the same network end

    ESXi host was completely disconnected and removed from vCenter inherited before attempting to add. No dvswitch physical or virtual.

    Then try and add, enter the user name and password and get cannot communicate with the specified host.

    The solution to this. Used ESX host 5.5 3B (3248547) update that disables SSLv3. (Ref: VMware ESXi 5.5 updated Notes version 3B) one of the consequences of this is that older versions of vCenter (such as trying to move the host) can not add/connect host.

    Enable SSLv3 to spend (port 443) on the resolved host (virtuallyPeculiar: connection A ESXi 5.5 U3b host to vCenter with a lower Version A.)

    Note: should not enable SSLv3 to Port 902.

    Hello

    VCA mode is not required when the generations of CPU on the server is the same.

    Adding your host in the cluster will work then.

    He advised not to add servers to a cluster with mixed material config. A possible problem might be the Admission HA control for example settings. If you configure a number of hosts reserved for failover, you may encounter problems with your hosts do not match each other. Here, you define the ability to failover in percentage.

  • Cannot add host ESX to vCenter 4.1

    Hello

    For some reason, the option "add a host...". ' was greyed out on vCenter and I can't add ESX hosts. Any idea? Thank you.

    Assuming that's not an issue of licenses (60-day trial period), this can be is owed by an Essentials edition - as mentioned by weinstein5 - or "vCenter Server Foundation", which are both limited to a maximum of 3 guests or limited permissions that do not allow to add the hosts.

    Found the problem as vCenter 6.0 version I was running. I was running an older version of the VC and the current version of ESXi.
    Downloaded the current version and reinstalled and all good.

  • vCenter Trial - add free ESXi existing Datacenter

    I've been running three hosts with the free version of ESXi. We try to evaluate licenses paid to get additional features (vMotion, etc.). I imported the virtual appliance for the server vCenter without any problem. Now I try to add my existing hosts in the data center, which I created in vCenter. When I do this, I get an error "download the file 10.161.30.3 to vCenter License Server failed because the exception: vim.fault.HostConnectFault". Is it not possible to add existing free ESXi hosts to vCenter trial?

    Cannot add ESXi hosts permitted by the hypervisor free license to vCenter Server. If the hosts 60-day evaluation period have not been achieved, we can use it in trial mode. Apart from this you can ask for the keys to the assessment of your VMware reseller representative.

  • vSphere Essentials 5 and vCenter Essentials - cannot add host - vMotion

    I would like to know how to add a host to vCenter Essentials for vSphere essentials.

    We bought vSphere Essentials and Essentials vCenter to improve our existing for Vsphere 4.1 Essentials environment.  Everything went well with the update on the host computer.  vSphere and vCenter allocated through the vSphere client license keys.  We installed vCenter and web client on a 2008 Server VM on the esxi host. The host has a number of existing virtual machines.  When attempting to add a host after have created the data center must be of VMotion.

    Must the esxi host be empty when adding to vCenter essential?

    Thank you.

    It sounds like you administering hosts in the mode of assessment so far and I tried some of the Enterprise Plus features! The Essentials Kit includes not vMotion (only Essentials more done) then you should remove the port vMotion group - if there is one - in the virtual network configuration to make the edition of Essentials-compatible host.

  • Add ESXi to vCenter automatically?

    Hello

    Is it possible to add an ESXi host to an implementation of vCenter automatically and change memory allocation reservation of VMs, etc.?

    What I try to achieve is to have an implemenatation base supports X users and adding hosts to expand the user base.

    You can do this with PowerCLI

    C:\PS>Add-VMHost 10.23.113.24 -Location Datacenter -User root -Password pass

    To define the limits and reservations of CPU/memory, you can change this script. Currently I use to turn off the limits

    get-vm | %{Get-View $_.ID} | %{
      if(($_.Config.CpuAllocation.Limit -ne -1) -or ($_.Config.MemoryAllocation.Limit -ne -1)){
        Write "VM name: " $_.Name
        write " CPU limit: " $_.Config.CpuAllocation.Limit
        write " Memory limit: " $_.Config.MemoryAllocation.Limit

        $spec = new-object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineConfigSpec;
        $spec.memoryAllocation = New-Object VMware.Vim.ResourceAllocationInfo;
        $spec.memoryAllocation.Shares = New-Object VMware.Vim.SharesInfo;
        $spec.memoryAllocation.Shares.Level = "normal";
        $spec.memoryAllocation.Limit = -1;
        $spec.CPUAllocation = New-Object VMware.Vim.ResourceAllocationInfo;
        $spec.CpuAllocation.Shares = New-Object VMware.Vim.SharesInfo;
        $spec.CpuAllocation.Shares.Level = "normal";
        $spec.CpuAllocation.Limit = -1;
        Get-View($_.ReconfigVM_Task($spec))
      }
    }

  • Cannot add the vmkernel nic: a specified parameter was not correct. vSphere CLI + ESXi 4

    Hello. I try to add vmknic with frames in my distributed virtual switch.

    I read the vSphere command-line Interface Installation and reference Guideguide:

    "vicfg-vmknic - a-i DHCP"vmk5"

    I see the error message:

    Cannot add the vmkernel nic: a specified parameter was not correct.

    Vim.Host.VirtualNic.Specification.Ip

    What's wrong?

    I tried all the combinations of parameters with the same result.

    Ok! I've found a workaround.

    Since adding a vmkernel remote interface doesn't seem to work with DVS, I simply created one on a standard vSwitch and it then migrated to the DVS. And voila: the value 9000 MTU migrated intact with her! Here are the steps I followed:

    1. put the ESX host into maintenance mode - evacuate VMs manually if necessary

    2 remove the VMKernel iSCSI/NFS to the DVS interface

    3. create a standard virtual switch with no physical cards. He has no need to be a VMKernel VM Networking switch is fine. Make a note of the name you gave to the PortGroup created on the new vSwitch.

    4 using the remote control line, add the new interface vkernel specifying an appropriate jumbo MTU (9000) and the PortGroup on the standard new vSwitch. For example:

    esxcfg - vmknic.pl - Server

    If you get 3 answers, everything works. If you get failures, something has gone wrong. Go back and check that the interface is configured correctly using the command list esxcfg - vmknic.pl-.

    Enjoy!

  • VSphere Web Client cannot connect to the server vCenter Single Sign On.

    I'm running the virtual appliance of the trial 5.5.0.20400 build 2442330 on ESXi 5.5.0, 2068190

    While I try to log on to the Web Client, I get this error.  VSphere Web Client cannot connect to the server vCenter Single Sign On.

    I put fallow the steps to disable SSO by changing the webclient.properties line add file and ad sso.enabled = false .    Then on the vCenter Server Appliance, restart the vSphere client service by typing service vsphere-client restart .

    I enclose the reference files.

    All ideas will be useful

    This answer was simple, all I had to do was remove the # in front of the statement in the file.   and SSO has been disabled after the restart of the service.

  • Unable to add previous hosts to vCenter device

    Greetings.  We are migrating our guests to new hardware.  We had three hosts for running ESXi 5.5.0 - 1331820 with the vCenter device on one of them.  Everything worked well.  In the process of moving virtual machines around, vCenter device has been deleted (intentionally).  We recreated the device of the OVA 5.5.0.5201 vCenter and ran through the Installation Wizard as previously.

    Now, when you add one of the existing hosts to vCenter, it finds the host and displays information.  When the user clicks on finish, it works quickly up to 80% and the host appears, and then disconnects.  The log shows: add host independent, added host, unable to connect host computer in the data center; connection error host, removed in the data center.

    The error showing is: cannot communicate with the specified host (x.x.x.x). The host may not be available on the network, may have a network configuration problem, or that the management on this host services may not respond.

    Now the stupid thing is that we can not even add the host on which the vCenter unit is on.  In addition, all hosts and vCenter unit are on the same network of management.  There is no firewall doesn't block all ports.  I read through a lot of the display of the Knowledge Base, and most is in regards to incorrect IP addresses or ports blocked or similar.  I checked through everything and could not find anything wrong.

    Last thing is that we amazed the ESXi host that had the vCenter device on it and re-installed 5.5.0 - 1623387 ESXi (version a little more recent than before) and reinstalled the that vCenter device exactly as before.  Now we can add that the host but still cannot add other hosts.  So it appears the issue is something with the hosts and not the device vCenter.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    I run in to the same kind of problems with other factors.

    FWIW, have you tried the following in this order? 1 stop the vpxa on host, 2 service. Stop the service vmware-vpxd on the vcenter server, 3. Start the vmware-vpxd on the vcenter server, 4 service. Start the serivce vpxa on the host. Then try to add.

  • vSphere 5 re-install-cannot add hosts

    Hi guys,.

    The short version:

    I installed 2 Physics Dell R710, with installed ESXi 5. Each has 4 Win2008R2 VM on them. Everything works fine. At the time I ran upward a VM specifically for vSphere vCentre server in order to manage these. I've added both ESXi hosts to a data center that I created in the vCenter. Because of the budgets he decided not to buy Essentials Plus a moment while the evaluation has expired I uninstalled the software.

    Fast forward to today and I bought Essentials. I have re-installed the software vCentre on this same machine virtual I've done before. I created a new data center. However, I can't add two existing ESXi hosts. I run the Wizard "Add host", put in the IP of the host, the same username and password I used on these hosts when connecting via customer vSphere th... and wait and wait the time out - not given error. I see in the event log of the host that the user @(l'ip dele de serveur vCenter) has in... but there is nothing after that... so he can see and hit the host OK... but then it expires and does not just add it.

    Has anyone else seen elsewhere or know a solution? Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated

    Hello

    When you have uninstalled vCenter right there you should remove the vCenter database, but you do not the same, because of which you there are old entries in the database and you cannot add an existing database to the host.

    If possible you uninstall the vCenter server and delete the database and redo the fresh install by creating the new vCenter database.

  • Esxi in vcenter integration?

    Hello!

    We have a valid license of VI3 with 20 cpu lic, free lic on the vcenter, 12 cpu server, but we can't add a free esxi Server (with the license free download) in our vcenter. There is a breach of licence. ??

    We need to generate a file license or what can we do?

    Tom

    You cannot add ESXi for VC with the license for free download.  The free license is to make it work as a stand-alone server.  If you have 12 free CPU and want to use all the features then add nothing and leave the ESXi to use one of the free licenses

  • ESXi 6 / vCenter 6 - SSLv3

    Hello

    Is it possible (as in 5.5u3b) to reactivate SSLv3 on port 443 for 6.0 ESXi and vCenter 6.0?

    Just found the solution for ESXi 6.0:

    Authd - Port 902

    esxcli Control Panel advanced set o/UserVars/VMAuthdDisabledProtocols s «»

    Pass - rhttpproxy - Port 443

    esxcli Control Panel advanced set o/UserVars/ESXiRhttpproxyDisabledProtocols s «»

    restart the /etc/init.d/rhttpproxy

    And for vCenter 6.0:

    / etc/VMware-rhttpproxy/config. XML

    Edit the file to add or remove 16924672 to enable or disable SSLv3 respectively:

    ...

    ...
    16924672

    ...

    restart the /etc/init.d/VMware-rhttpproxy
