Cannot add raw lun if the host is connected to vCenter

I have MS cluster disks in HP EVA4400. They are presented to my guests. If I self host then I can add raw disks in VM but if I add host to vCenter then the lun of the bullies appear no more.

Probably, if I anyone these LUNS and present with different lun ID then they would appear but can't bring those LUNS offline.

Anyone have idea where I should start to investigate?

I think that what you see is the expected behavior.

In a cluster environment, you can add a unit logic as a ROW only one number. While adding, a mapping file raw device called (vmdk file) is created. On the other node MSCS, you must connect to this mapping file (via Add existing virtual disk) rather than create another ROW.

Access to the RAW LUN through multiple files for mapping (if you manage to somehow create them) could cause problems with locking and possible data corruption.

    Hello
After upgrading to windows 7 Home premium 64 bit vista family premium 64-bit, I expected to be able to connect my EPSON Stylus D68 printer on my laptop and leave immediately. However, when I tried to do this installation constantly failed.  Therefore, I went to the manual add the printer option in the menu devices and printers. However I met this error message: "Windows cannot add a printer. The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spoiler or restart the machine,"after reviewing the existing forums on the issue, I tried to restart the services option. However, the restart option has been obscured and when I just tried to start then I met an other error message: "windows could not start the spooler on the local computer service, error 1053: service has failed to demand launch or control in a timely. more when I click Properties to the spooler in the description it says failure to read the description. error code: 1813. • A general error occurred: could not connect with the password of administrator of vim cannot configure VIM account on the host

    Community salvation.

Story: I was called to look at the configuration of vSphere for a customer. When I started looking, I noticed several problems in the environment of the person who has put in place initially. I've been noting but have done nothing to fix these up to the...

A question that I've seen is that the server vSphere does not apper communicate properly on ESX 3.5 servers. The error message is similar to a post on this forum ( http://communities.vmware.com/message/1450789?tstart=0) however the same method of solution did not work.

Currently I have two ESX hosts connected to a console vSphere. The Console displays the disconnected hosts and the error points to the problems with the VPXUSER account. I found

I searched and found several articles with similar questions, so I chose a course of action

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1007132

    http://communities.VMware.com/message/1168241

As a note - vSphere client connections toESX welcomes also directly works very well - don't show no problems and everything seems fine.

So - my first actions were to disconnect and reconnect one of the hosts.  The operation failed with the error "a general error has occurred: unable to connect with the password of administrator of vim cannot configure VIM account on the host. After that, I followed the elimination of the VPXUSER process, restarted the agents and you reconnect the server for vSphere - to the same result. I then deleted the ESX host, removed the VPXUSER, restarted the agents and added that the host ESX back once again - but no change - the same exact error message. I don't see the VPXUSER ID are re-created by this process - so I guess that ESX and vSphere should know the ID and the password.

Nothing shows up in the var for this - but one of the articles above explains that as a result of the use of the PAM modules.

Just for fun, I also tried using the ROOT password and reallowing ROOT to connect via SSH - but I got the same failures. I also tried lifting the VPXUSER ID privleges but - same questions.

If - goes here - any ideas? I can give other details or screen caputres

I checked the checked the file /etc/resolv.conf Bed & Breakfast.

I am able to ssh on the server as well as the use of WinSCP without any problem.

I can connect with the VI Client also without problem.

    Any ideas?

    The problem has been resolved.

    The fix:

    =====

    # vimsh-e - n/hostsvc/hostsummary | grep inMaintenanceMode

    Using the libcrypto, version 90809F

    inMaintenanceMode = false,

    # vim-cmd/hostsvc/hostsummary | grep inMaintenanceMode

    inMaintenanceMode = false,

Rationality for the problem is these commands (vim - FCM or vimsh) were unable to communicate due to lack of xinetd process.

  • Cannot add VMFS datastore to ESXi host

    Hi all

I have a problem with the CF 1 logical unit number which can be seen as a device through several paths on all 10 hosts in a cluster, but it appear as a data store VMFS on 6 of the hosts. Other LUNS of the same Bay appear correctly on all hosts. 10 guests see the LUN with the same LUN ID and all hosts are identical regarding the version of ESXi (5.0 Update 2), HBA and firmware models.

On the 4 hosts who can see the device but not the VMFS data store, it seems that he sees the LUN as a snapshot: 'list of snapshot storage vmfs esxcli' translates into:

    4f5e5cbb-a87cd2c6-86e9-d8d385f98034
    Volume name: LUN101_SAS2
    VMFS UUID: 4f5e5cbb-a87cd2c6-86e9-d8d385f98034
    Can mount: true
    Reason of mountability-United Nations:
    Can will: false
Reason for non-resignaturability: the volume is actively used
    County of measure pending: 1

The UUID VMFS above matches the UUID VMFS seen on 6 guests who can see the VMFS data store.

When I try to use 'Add storage', the device appears with a lambel VMFS: LUN101_SAS2(head). I don't know why (head) was added to the label of VMFS. Oscreen n the following signature to keep 'existing' and "Assign a new signature" options are grayed out. The only option is "Disc Format. I need to keep the existing signature because it run virtual machines that have their files .vmx and hard on this LUN.

Would the fact that I have virtual machines running on this LUN, I cannot choose the option to "keep the existing signature?

I need to Storage vMotion these virtual machines to a different LUN before I add the VMFS datastore to 4 guests?

    TIA

    Hey RoscoT;

    Try the following command

    #esxcfg - volume - l

    This should show the volume

To constantly increase the volume, use esxcfg-volume - M followed of the UUID or volume name

    Concerning

    one

  • Try to use mapped raw LUNs to the new drive, but it is grayed out.

I have a volume set up on my SAN for my host Dataserver and when I look at the configuration for the storage card from the host (iSCSI adapter SW) it lists the unit, so I know that he can see it.

The problem is when I go to the Dataserver VM and try to add a new hard drive, it won't let me select "maps Raw Lun. I missed a step in the development of this device?

To ensure that this RDM file is pointing to the correct LUN, run:

    vmkfstools q - /vmfs/volumes/.../DATASERVER_VM1_4.vmdk

Usually you would remove a RDM disk by selecting "remove disc" when you remove it from the virtual machine (this removes only files hard and not the data on the LUN itself). However, it should work just delete the two files - the vocation and the associated descriptor file - browser data store. The data browser store will only show the name of the desctiptor file.

If you can afford a few outages, power off the virtual computer, re - join the mapping file and then remove it by selecting meanings reported "remove disc"

PS: No host reboot is required for this action.

  • 5.5.5 Advanced VDP cannot add a license to a host

I downloaded and installed the eval mainly to test the functionality of replication of 60 days.

I have the license provided by vmware and added during the installation/configuration

Enter the web client then the POS and the configuration tab.

This page is supposed to have an advanced POS tab or link to go somewhere to add hosts to the allowed list.

This facility does not have the Advanced tab.

the configuration has confirmed the version and the mode is advanced vdp as shown on the left side of the configuration page

Adds the License Manager to license in vcenter (device 5.5)

I'm stuck, cannot do all the backups until I have a license to host.

    any suggestions?

    Thank you

finish by closing the vcenter and all 5 devices of vdp

interesting thing to note is that the element of Data Protection of vSphere in the left menu of the web client disappears when there is no POS device running.

all brought to the top entered the advanced VDP connection and now the advanced license option is present and functional.  don't have an answer for this, but at least I can with the eval.

at the same time, I was looking into using high processor on the device of vcenter 5.5 and found that it is POS devices.

without any POS running host cpu is 40%, started 2 and it went to about 50%, 60 plus 2% more then in the last 4 hours, he established at 40%

before complete stop of all POS and vcenter vc ran 90 percent even after a reboot of the Victoria Cross.  Looks like they have sometimes a few problems to agree, but a new start for everyone seems to get by.

  • Cannot add Raw Device Mapping as hard drive

    Hello

We have 2 Server 2008 Virtual Machines (which are clustered) that make up a Cluster 2 node x.  The ESX servers that organize these VMs (ESX Server different on each) are connected to a San.  When I place these two VMs, I could add a hard drive "Raw Device Mapping" without problem - he could see data warehouses, I had Setup on the SAN.  However when I try to add a hard drive "Raw Device Mapping" on the 2 new virtual machines, the only options I have are:

    -Create a new virtual disk

    -Use an existing virtual disk

Any ideas why Raw Device Mappings is greyed out?

You add the second node RDM disk by selecting "use an existing virtual disk".  The ability to add RAW devices is only available for RAW LUN which has already been mapped to a virtual machine.

When you add the ROW to the first node, a mapping for the RDM vmdk file was created. It's that developed from the second node.

  • Cannot add album art in the windows media player 11

I used to put album art on mp3 manually files with advanced tag editor and I had no problem, but all of a sudden (I won't change anything in the configuration) it stopped, not even a message... When I drag any image of the album (which is not playing), it always creates the folder.jpg and albumartsmall.jpg files but it shows thumbnails of coverage associated with each file, and when I go again to tag editor advanced is as I din't put the lid in it, so it shows the coverage only for the information of the album but not for every song of it and I'd like to see the covers in the solution once again Explorer. I don't have the media player connected to the internet, but this is not the problem... Any suggestions?

  • vCenter 6 in a WAN configuration - cannot add 6.0.0 ESXi host, is stuck at 80%

    All,

I tried a day now to find a solution to this. We have 6 break-in LAN1 vcenter, connect a host ESXi LAN1 and ESXi another I LAN2. LAN1 and LAN2 are connected with IPsec. Resolution of DNS works both ways, as far as I can tell and all ports are open between the hosts. We had everything up and running but due to hardware failure, needed to replace the ESXi I LAN2.

With the new host in place, I am not able to add to vcenter. I tried to use the name and IP address. I even downgraded to a previous version of ESXi, but all does not work, stuck at 80% progress bar. Then the message "Failed to contact the host specified." Checking the logs I see that vcenter is actually connected to ESXi in LAN2 and creating the account vpxuser to communication works in one way at least.

I remember I had the problems of implementation of the previous host in LAN2, but all of a sudden it worked simply.
