  I've been looking for more information on how to connect to external devices programmatically using the port USB of the Playbook. It seems that the QNX Neutrino system level options do not work, I tried to use system() with some usb since utilities commands (e/s-usb, usb,...) without success. I'm trying to build an application that uses the USB port of the Playbook to connect to a network industry such as devicenet or profi-bus as an example. Anyone know if this is possible?   Change Note: Please answer and the result is pretty much that I had found. I have no contact I can name for RIM, off the top of my head. I think for now, I'll concentrate my efforts for the development of the Playbook.

  This is my speculation, but given the current philosophy of the PlayBook and BB 10 OS, perhaps my speculation is not too bad. Anyway, it is not only a problem of BB, other editors (Apple, Samsung, LG etc) also do not allow this out of the box.

  I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P10 3 years computer that has 3 USB ports. None of them works although the power is coming from them than my external mouse upwards but lights does not work. In Device Manager it says that everything is working ok IE all the drivers, etc. I was told that it's probably the motherboard?

  Maplins it's a software problem. I tried a PCI card with USB port but they no longer work. The PCI location is fine but as my wireless adapter card works from there ok. I restored the computer 3 times and each time the USB ports do not work.
  Any suggestions? I want to add an external mouse drive DVD etc...

  Did you use the clean Toshiba Recovery CD to restore the operating system on your laptop or have you installed the operating system from the original Windows CD.

  The USB ports provide a current of 500 ma, and it is a standard. If several external devices connected to ports needs more power as 500mA, then it of possible that the laptop does not detect USB devices several.

  What I understand about USB, I don't think that you can do.

  The USB ports on the PXI controller host ports are and as such cannot be used as ports of the device. A keyboard would be a HID device class. Maybe it's a kind of emulator HID that could be placed between the PXI and your USE awaits a USB keyboard...

• Satellite P10 crashes when using the USB port

  I used my Toshiba 1 year without problem. Recently, I have a problem with my USB port. As sson as I have insert any USB device. The system hangs / crashes(I have to swith it off using the power switch to reboot w/o the usb device).

  I have removed/uninstalled drivers and rebooted. The laptop recognizes the usb ports and charging drivers, but whenever I insert any USB device, the system freezes again.

  Any advice will be appreciated.

  It's really not easy to say what is happening here. Perhaps some device needs a little longer to be recognized. Please let us know what devices you use.

  It is a faster way to much to get applications on devices using iTunes. If it does not copy OK you can then try remote debugging in Animate and then open the application. The IP address of your computer, you must have this ready to type in.

  How long have you encountered this problem?

  Did you of recent changes made to your system, before having this problem?  (installation/uninstallation software/hardware)

  What version of Windows XP and SP are you currently using?

  What anti-virus software are you currently running and when you ran a full scan last?
