Cannot copy files with properties!

Whenever I want to copy a multimedia file on a USB key, the system will indicate that the files will be copied without original properties, but this problem was not showing when I transfer the file to the hard drive. I tried to format the USB key with different file system and use other submissions, but impossible to find a bit of luck.

You can ignore this error and the file will still be usable.  Lost properties are just some of the extended information that are stored in the NTFS file system.

You can also format your USB to use the NTFS file system - which is not only much more efficient, but also much more resilient and less likely to have failures when writing failure (which is common on portable drives that are subject to disconnection without notice to the system).

  • Errro message "cannot copy file: path is too deep.

Inequality on the what, why, how do to the error message "cannot copy file: path is too deep." I would like to know the causes and possible prevention and or all of the information available on this issue. The problem occurs when copying large files and sometimes small files on external hard drive to the top.

Even though the file itself may become a 9-character file name extension, it could be buried inside several files.  Thus, when you step on your external USB drive and it appears as, say, M: drive, the number of characters in the complete path to the file starting with "M:\. "and including all of the directories in the path to the file as well as the number of characters in the name of the file itself must not exceed 255 or Windows refuses to handle.

Robocopy is a command line program.  You must type in the command from a command prompt window (start-> Run-> "cmd").  It works by accessing the file using a set of routines to copy the different library that does not have the limit of 255 characters.  A documentation file must accompany Robocopy explaining how to use it.

Another method that might work for you is to take the folder that your .wmv file is in (or maybe both files above) and to temporarily move to the root directory of your external hard drive.  This shorten the path to the file and allow a normal copy of work.

What installation media you are using?

  • Copy files with dasylab

    Hallo!

I need a little help! I want to copy files by pressing a button in dasylab, is this possible?

    Another question:

It is possible to discover if an external storage device is connected with dasylab?

This is the reason why I'm asking you:

I record data measured on the hard drive. For our customer, I need to back up the files on an external device. I want to back up these files by pressing a button.

Maybe someone can help out me?

    Thank you very much

    Good day

You can use the module of the Action to execute an external program, including a command-line copy command.

The switch would then connect to the Action.

The normal program of DASYLab cannot confirm the existence of a player. You can write a batch script to do all this and start using the plug-in Action.

  • Cannot copy file names that include the slashes, commas, etc.

    Hello.

I am trying to copy files from my old Mac G5 tower (about 10 years).  But my copy fails with an error message when trying to copy a file name that includes a special character.  Is there a way to get around this?

To clarify: when it runs in a file with special characters, it gives me the error message that the file name is too long or contains special characters.  The problem is that when I click 'OK' to confirm the error (not), the copy is aborted.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Oh!  Well I guess you will have to wait for someone with a Mac experience for you then help.  I do not have one.  I'm sorry.

BTW, you should post your question on Apple/Mac forum.  Many experienced people who can help you.   Good luck.  :-)

  • Cannot copy files in Vista to a flash drive

I am running Vista on a Dell Inspiron 530 and have tried to prepare my pc for installation of Windows 7.  I looked at other threads on this forum with similar problems, but have not found all of this sounds similar to my situation.  I tried to copy files such as my work Lotus document, Favorites files and picture files on a 32 GB Sandisk flash drive to save them before making the migration to 7.

First of all, I had set up and files on the flash drive and then copied the data from drive C by using the copy and paste commands.  A strange thing happened when I pasted the images and the Favorites in the files of the flash player that I had put in place for these data was that the system insisted on the creation of its own files for these two files even if I paste in the files that I install.  I had the time that deleting the folder empty two I had the installer and then rename the files that the system had created.  When I had finished I posted the content of each of these files and they all contained what I expected to see.  Then, I closed the window and going on to something else.  Later I returned a new is to look at these files, I had created on the drive flash and discovered that they were not there.  With the exception of two small files that included Sandisk on the disc, it was empty.

I might add that one of the reasons why I have do this upgrade is because Vista goes into a 'blocking' occasionally, and forcing me to delete a running via the Task Manager program, or if a system reboot.  The system restore feature is disabled.  I am the only user of this system and it is not on a network.

I would appreciate help to solve this problem.  Thank you

    You are quite welcome.

  • Cannot open files with the EXTENSION of the PPT FILE

I can't open a file with the following extension using PowerPoint ppt. The message below is what I get-

The selected file is not a valid Microsoft PowerPoint file. It may be a file created by another program.

Try by double-clicking the file in Windows Explorer to see if another program opens to it. If PowerPoint opens again when you double-click the file in Windows Explorer, it is possible that the file is not a PowerPoint file, but its extension has been renamed to be that of a PowerPoint file type registered (for example, .ppt, .pptx, .pps, .ppsx, .pptx, .pot or .potx) but the file is not a PowerPoint file.

To determine which program can open the file, try one of the following:

    • Contact the original author (if known) to know what program you used to create this file. Then rename the file with the correct extension so that it can be opened by this program.
    • Try opening the file in other programs.
    • If you or someone you know, are very knowledgeable about software, review the file header in a text editor to determine which program can read the file.

Another possibility is that the file has been damaged during transfer from another computer. Trying to transfer the file again.

The file may be damaged. If you have a copy of the file backup, use it. It is not possible repair corrupted file.
