  • Cannot install my Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe looks dead.

I can't install my Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe file appears dead. The CD sounds great.

I reinstalled a new version of Win. XP Pro Sp3 and it wiped out many of my programs, so I have been re - install. Of course, I lost the registry and have to build a new by reinstalling my programs. But my Photoshop 7 CD seems to have a dead setup.exe file and he won't answer as before. I tried everything including turning off virus program. I don't know what else to do. Maybe I need a new setup.exe file but I have no idea where I might get one.

Yes, I have a registered product. Can someone help me?

    Thank you, Judi

Thanks a lot for your suggestion R_Kelly.

Yes, I had tried to copy the contents of the Setup disk to both my external Seagate drive and the right on the C: drive, itself, but without success.

But I just live a miracle and installed like butter - to my total surprise.  I will share my experience in case where someone Vienna with a similar problem and maybe help them my situation.

When I installed the "rescue disk" to replace my whole OS on my laptop, technicians had given me a choice in the options that I didn't really know how to choose, and I've been an IT professional at the end of the 1990s. That's where I got in trouble. What I wanted to do, it was just to crush my Windows XP Pro SP3, as we do in the 'old days' when computers were free and not all the owners. When I chose to remove the current Windows partition to make room for the new facility, apparently she also deleted the registry and my computer had no knowledge of the programs I had installed and I had to reinstall just about everything.   I thought I was okay with that.

Finalizing the installation of the new Windows OS, I was asked to give my computer a 'name '.  Well, I do remember that I never gave a name before and there was no place for me to go to discover. So, I gave her a name 'JudiLenova '.  When I couldn't have my programs to run, I thought that maybe I had lost not only my registry file, but maybe some ini files I had left do not recognize this name, so I changed it to "Judi", still don't not Recalling that, if necessary, the name I had given him before.  As I met problems with trying to install Photoshop, I watched my systems directories and saw that there was equal files in two different ways, one for each name. I was wondering if perhaps BACK, which cannot make decisions, could not decide which way was the right one to find files, I needed. Of course, I wish not to use the option "repair" on the hot spare, but it was too late. I need this computer to use all the tools I have installed on it.

I bought a program powerful fixit recommended by CNET to fix things and he has found more than 1400 problems but still nothing solved this problem.

One thing I noticed is that sometimes when I do a restart of the computer, Windows Installer suddenly would show complete installation of Photoshop, but then he'd stop initialization because of the recovery. (So close and yet so far!)  I knew that the old system was over and stupidly I had deleted the full backup that I had stored on the Seagate, then I looked at the option 'restore' to see what thresholds it was to see if maybe I could go back to a bygone era. The only restore point, that I had was for the day that I had installed the hot spare. I said "what the heck" and opted to make it back. When I made this choice, I received the message that the major change would be that the name of the computer would change "Judi" to "JudiLenova."  I thought it might solve some of my problem. Surprisingly, it seems to have solved the problem of Photoshop because I put the disc in my drive D: and wide, she went without a hitch!

My hunch is that BACK could not find the Install Shield to activate the installation. Whatever the cause of the miracle, I am grateful that I didn't not throw my computer in the Lake outside my window... but of course, it was tempting.

Thanks again for your attempts to rescue me. I hope this helps the guy next door happens.  Now, I'll try to install the rest of my beloved old programs Adobe and everything.   Fingers crossed!

  • Railroad Tycoon 2 on Windows 7 error - setup.exe cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit Windows versions

I'm playing the game "Railroad Tycoon 2-Gold edition" on my laptop which is running Windows 7. Whenever I try to install it, he repeats to me - "the program or feature? \G:\_setup\setup.exe cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit Windows versions"... .and there is nothing I can't do to go around that at all.  Normally with my old games I can at least install, then just then change to be compatible and is not, but I can not here. Any help would be great I want to play this game, it's one of my favorites and I hate how I can't play everything simply because computers are better than them... If this is the case, then they should still be able to support games that are 10 + years older than them, you know? I can add more information if needed, thank you.

You must contact the manufacturer to see if they have a patch for Windows 7. He would come by the manufacturer and not by Microsoft.

    Thank you

  • Steam.exe(main_exception):error:Delete of steam.exe failed, Win32 Error5 "access denied."

I get the error that is displayed in the title line when you try to install the application of steam for the game Left4Dead. Just in case where the window title does not display the full error message:

    Steam.exe(main_exception):error:Delete of steam.exe failed, Win32 Error5 "access denied."

My system specs are as follows:

    MB: ASUS P6T DELUXE Version2
    CPU: i7 950 QUAD-CORE 3.06GHz
GC: XFX RADEON HD 4890 1 GB
RAM: Patriot 12 GB Triple Channel Lat7
HARD drive: WD VelociRaptor 150 GB 10K rpm
HARD drive: Samsung Dual RAID Class 1 TB
HARD drive: dual Seagate Barracuda 500 GB
    PWR: COOLMAX 1200 Watt
CASE: Aplus Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower
    OS: Vista Ultimate 64-bit

I checked my system and performed the following tasks to try to resolve the problem:
My version of Windows is up-to-date. I have no problem hardware or exceptional driver. I tried to temporarily disable my antivirus to complete the installation, this does not solve the problem. I tried to install it as a system administrator. I searched the site of Valve/steam software for a solution, none were found (http://store.steampowered.com/). I searched the database of Microsoft for a solution, none were found. I'm having no problem with other games or applications that were loaded on that computer. The problem is only with the application steam.exe and any game that requires the application of steam to the function.
    I came across the following link which has promised to solve the problem;
    http://www.bing.com/search?mkt=en-us&q=steam%20error%20Win32%20error%205
    https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5322-QYZB-5344
I followed the instructions at three times, all with the same error message.
The default program is responsible for the following: C:\Program Files (x 86) \Steam.
I tried to load the program on different hard disks and got the same error code.
I have triple checked all user profiles to make sure that the appropriate privileges have been set (Admin). I checked all the steam program elements to ensure that they have been set to run as a program director executed. I double checked that proper TCP/UDP ports are open for the application of the steam function. http://www.resoo.org/docs/Counterstrike/steam_ports.html
Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Platinum,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Vista Community Forums.

This error is primarily caused by a lack of permissions for the user, having the Steam.exe file attributes set to 'Read only', or by another program interferes with the installation of Steam process (if the steam client application has been updated to a version that was not included in your package of Steam, Steam will download a new copy of itself and then delete the old file Steam.exe except when another program interferes).

    1. check your Windows user permissions.
Please ensure that you are logged on as administrator on the computer that you use to install Steam.
    2. check the file attributes
    3. right click on the file Steam.exe, which was created after running the Steam Installer, and then select Properties
4 uncheck the read-only box if it is checked and hit apply before closing the window
    5. try running the Steam.exe file once more
    6. check the settings of your security software

If you are running an antivirus, firewall or any product safety program that may interfere with the removal and replacement of the file Steam.exe (some security software will check information of a file whenever it is changed and block the automatic replacement of files) Please check your settings for the program and ensure that you are prompted to authorize activities that may trigger the security software.

Remove spyware, Adware and virus software and try to run the installation again.

In addition to the steps above, follow these steps:
    1. go in C:/Program Files/Steam /.
    2. right click on Steam.exe and go to properties.
    3. click on the Compatibility tab.
    4. check run as administrator and click OK.
    5. then I deleted StemeTemp (or something like that. the steam icon).
    6. then run Steme.exe again.

    It will be useful.

    «Windows cannot find «C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\RarSFX0\Adobe Acrobat XI\setup.exe»»

I scanned using Malwarebytes, AVG, Spybot and run a \scannow command.  Nothing is a corrupt file.  Any ideas what might be causing the extractor does not work?

I am running Windows 7 on a Dell 64 bit laptop.

SOLUITION - I had to actually download a version of WinRAR Extractor.  Right click on the file AcrobatXI - Windows.exe downloaded and choose "Open with WinRAR" (this option was not available until I downloaded the WinRAR application - apparently the extractor runs automatically, but does not have full functionality).  Then I nagivated in the Adobe Acrobat folder in the WinRAR window selected the setup.exe file to run.  It has open and installed beautifully.
