cannot delete emails outlook Express 6.0

Cannot delete emails

You have corruption of dbx files.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

Compact all folders as described below.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

cannot delete emails from the Inbox

    1. move all the messages you want to keep out folders, sent items and deleted items, and in other local OE folders you have created for archiving (backup) of such messages.

1B. move 99% of your messages in your Inbox folder to other folders the of OE, too.

    2. Note the location of the store of your identity (http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain).

2B. turn on "Show hidden folders and files" via start | Control Panel | Folder options | View (seehttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html).

    3. close OE.

    4. in Windows Explorer, navigate to your storage folder, find & removeOutbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbxand Deleted Items.dbxfile.

To avoid such problems in the future, comply with the following restrictions:

N ' not use Inbox or sent items to archive messages.  Move them to local folders created for this purpose.

-Empty the deleted items folder daily.

-Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE while records that "work offline".  More onhttp://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

-Do not cancel automatic compacting, where it would happen and do not try to close OE via Manager tasks or stop your Automatic compaction machine can take place.

-Disable e-mail scanning in your antivirus application.  It can cause corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and offers no additional protection:

  • I want to delete my Outlook Express 6 program from my computer.

    Original title: Ms.

I want to delete my Outlook Express 6 program from my computer.  I don't want no more of this program.  I now use XFinity E-mail and Outlook gets in my way when I train to attach attachments and other things.  How to remove Outlook Express 6 program from my computer?

OE is integrated with XP so you cannot remove it. In the control panel. Add/Remove programs. Add/Remove Windows components, uncheck OE to remove access to it.

Note that if you use Xfinity Webmail, if you try a right click on a file and send to | Recipient of the message, you will get an error message saying: there is no default e-mail program. Webmail is not recognized when you perform this action. You will need to open a new message window, and then attach the file.

  • Cannot delete emails, grays out screen, message Inbox Mozilla (not answer)

System is not responding. Removal of e-mails causes aging out of the entire screen. Sometimes it is non-gris, but it doesn't always. Cannot delete emails, or does it very slowly - like minutes later. I was recently deleting emails by holding down the SHIFT key, so I can remove a lot of emails at a time. Maybe would it cause a problem? Even the attempt of X on Thunderbird causes the same message "Inbox - Mozilla (not responding)" appear in the upper left corner.
    That's happened?

I totally disconnected and restarted. I was in safe mode (according to instructions) and then completely disconnected for you ensure that I was not stuck in safe mode.

    I still have non-response.

    Thank you for your help

  • cannot delete emails from the Inbox

Using Outlook Express.  Some emails go in box shipping and stuck there.  Messages are sent repeatedly but not appear in the sent mail or leave the Outbox.

You have posted on the forum for Windows XP Performance and Maintenance, and you probably should have posted in the Forum Win XP Internet Explorer since OE is part of Internet Explorer.  If your message is not answered, a moderator of the Forum will eventually move your question, but you can also move it yourself if you want to.

At the end of your first post (original post) is a button change. Click on the button and change the Forum the Forum there is Internet Explorer.  Click on all subjects, and in the menu drop-down menus, select your product information and the subject. This will put you in the forum that fits your problem.

  • Why all the emails Outlook express opens at the far right of the screen?

Why all the emails Outlook express opens at the far right of the screen? I have to take the cursor to the top right of the computer screen, then click to maximize the file so that it opens to the normal size and location. Does not try to 'change' the file to the normal position. Thank you

Any window that you want to resize all the time must be the last closed window.

Take the corners of the window and drag it to the format full screen. Do not use to expand. Close all other windows first via the taskbar and the latter. Windows will remember the size of the last closed window the next time that you open the program.

What should I do to be able to access my email (outlook express) from another computer?  I don't see new emails.  I want to be able view outlook express the same when I view it on my main computer.

In fact, I'll leave the window (use to be called Outlook express) mail to webmail.

If Cox is your provider, the only way to deliver the messages on the server must send to yourself, which of course will screw up all the message headers.

  • Cannot delete emails from Outlook Express. Help, please!

OK, stuck in my Outlook Express again. Someone sent me 2 emails that I can't remove. Help, please! I'll save the news this time, since it seems to happen more. Why? Beyond me!

Don't worry about what Vijay suggests until you move all messages from the Inbox you want to keep.  His suggestion will scan all messages in your Inbox.

If you are unable to delete e-mails, your deleted items folder go corrupt.  Move anything out of this folder that you want to keep, then close OE and delete the deleted items.dbx file.  OE will create a new.

  • Cannot delete emails in Outlook Express 6.

Until last week, I could delete e-mails when received. Now, I'm happy if I can remove two a day leaving up to 50 emails a day cloggging my Inbox. Version of Outlook Express 6 XP 5.1 of ideas?

Your deleted items folder is probably corrupted.  The best thing to do is to back up your messages (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#6) and then click on file | Identities and setup a new identity, which will give you a completely empty and filial together records.  Then add your email account and when it works fine, then click file | Import | Messages and point to the old identity to get them across the oldest.

  • Outlook express on windows xp professional, cannot delete emails from the Outbox and continues to send a copy by e-mail

I use outlook express on windows xp professional (OEM:Dell), I'm unable to delete e-mails from the Outbox and continues to send a copy by e-mail. How to remedy?

Check: File | Work offline and in: reviews | Layout: uncheck the preview pane. Can delete you it now?

    Otherwise:

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, 2K & 2K 3, files from user OE (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the DBX the Outbox.dbx file and delete it. A new vacuum will be created automatically when you open OE.
