Seems to have cleared the error message.  So far so good.

However, now a Windows Update does not work.  Security Center Windows were told to go to control panel > system and use the Automatic Updates tab.  But, if I go to control panel > system, the Automatic Updates tab does not appear.

I also went to the control panel > Services.  Tried to start the automatic updates service.  Received this error message: could not start the service automatic updates on Local computer.  Error 126: The specified module is not found.

Please help me to get the automatic updates to run.  Thank you!

  • Cannot turn off automatic updates and the Error Message on Loadup and Peridoically subsequently

The following error message appears when the computer starts up, when I click on "check for updates", when I try to turn off the automatic updates in the preferences and at random times.  In the preferences, more precisely, I am able to choose the area that must go out looking for updates, but when I try to save the setup I get this exact error message.

    -----------------------------

    AdobeARM.exe

The procedure entry point CreateProcessWithTokenW is not found in the library of Hotlinks ADVAPI32. DLL.

    -----------------------------

The computer is an old laptop running Windows XP.  I think that it's Windows XP is a key reason why the error occurs.  That said I can't replace the laptop right now so I would turn off rather updated.  I've updated to the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe Web site.  The new version added a 4th checkbox in the section to turn off the automatic updates, but I always get the same exact error message.

Is there a hidden Windows Settings folder I have can be directed to Adobe Reader?  A file where I can change the automatic updates option from 1 to 0 to turn it off?  Because the software does not work.

Please, create the following registry key:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown]

    "bUpdater" = DWORD: 00000000

In addition, you can run msconfig (via the Win + R), go to the Startup tab and deselct point of 'Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager' (which corresponds to the process AdobeARM.exe), press on apply and restart your machine.

  • Cannot install the automatic updates

    HIII.

I have an Acer E - 572 G, and it's just more than a year. Usually it will update automatically every once in a while when I turn it on, but for the past two times he took a long time to update, before a message appears saying: it was "impossible to install updates. Undo changes. "This whole process takes about half an hour, and I have no idea why he suddenly can't update?

Also; I have had problems since I've upgraded to 8.1 Windows - when I try to shut down my computer, the screen goes black and it does not, but she is still ongoing, and I held down the power button to stop it every time.
Is as if I'm trying to close the cover (so as a disconnection or put in rest mode) it just goes black and unresponsive not but retains current execution until I'm physically turn off the power.
I heard remains with sometimes is not good for the computer to stop like that, so I don't know if that could be linked to her now all of a sudden will not be updated?

(And, btw, I contact the Acer and Windows after that happened, which is about a year.) Windows Me Acer necessary to upgrade their servers to accomedate the new upgrade and Acer told me that Windows needed to come up with a new update that worked for their servers - aka nor offered any help also, and nothing happened to solve the problem.)

Any ideas as to how can I fix? :/

    Elen,

I think the problem you are having with your Windows updates can be what we have in this article. See this article and if it's what he does, just let it do its thing. I also think that you may need to run an Update on your system, if it is to have some problems, to see if it will fix it. If you can't have Windows to run the update, try the procedure described in this article.

  • Software of third parties cannot run their automatic updates

Fully working to update Windows 7 Professional (x 64) on a custom desktop. My problem is that I can't get back specifically not updated for a number of products of third parties, including:

    • The Adobe Flash Player installer
    • iTunes
    • Origin
    • StarCraft Setup
    • CyberPatrol installer
    • Skype
    • Spybot S & D

The funny thing is that many of these products have other web services that work very well. For example, all Skype services work. I can access the iTunes store and the Bank of origin without any problem. Apart from these programs, the internet itself works fine - I can browse in IE and FireFox with also good results. I can also surf the internet within the steam with no problems - it is fair updaters that fail. And they all give similar errors with regard to not being able to connect to the internet. Updates Windows has no problem - last update was 28 and I had this problem for weeks, longer than that.

This made me suspect a firewall issue was at stake, so I disabled temporarily all firewalls and security software to test these programs, but it did not help. Including turn off Windows Firewall, all services of Avast, stopping CyberPatrol, Spybot... I don't have any other products like Malware Bytes, etc. Just for fun, I also created a few exceptions in the services to communicate my problem in/out appropriate programs.

The event log shows these update services calendar out or simply crashing when they try to connect to their servers. DNS and other TCP/IP settings are set to automatic. I don't have a proxy set up - which is also the default value. Just for fun, I went ahead and reset winsock, and which did not help the cause.

I feel that it's a really obvious answer, but I am confused. Help would be appreciated - any ideas?

All your software up to date there through any firewall access, you can have?  When testing if a firewall is a problem (except for the built-in Windows Firewall), it may be necessary to uninstall any third party firewall, as it is just deactivation is not enough because many parameters remain active even after you turn off.

In the thread above, I was following the post on 30 August.  According to Option A, I completed step 5 for the uninstallation of McAfee Security.  At this time, my network card has stopped working.  On the recommendation of the officer, I posted to the Malwarebytes forum.  The officer determined Malwarebytes that I don't have a malicious software.  I ended up posting on forum McAfee to get my network card works again.  Then I reinstalled McAfee and start to run Windows Update.

I started with Option A, step 8 to reset Internet Explorer using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737.  The difficulty it has worked very well.

Then Option A, step 9 says reset Windows Update using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058.  When I ran the difficulty in default or aggressive mode, I got an error message saying: he cannot start wuauserv.  The message asks me to verify that the user has privileges to take this step.  Well, I checked through user accounts who am the only one user set up on this PC and I have administrator privileges.  Help me please run this difficulty or recommend another way to get Windows Update works again.

A1. Yes, and it was my recommendation in August, too.

    A2. Yes.

A3. Only not really well using the restore Partition hidden to make the "destructive recovery" will include all drivers, etc., that have been installed at the factory.

    A4a. Yes, a real possibility.

A4b. You run at least three 3 tests on the backup data before restoring one (1) with your installed & updated up-to-date anti-virus application (for example, Microsoft Security Essentials) and two 2 with good reputation, free online scans (e.g., ESET;) Bit Defender; Kaspersky; HouseCall; (F - Secure).

If you have saved your data on CD/DVD, the disc scanner. If you have backed up your data to a flash drive, SD card, or another external drive AND KB971029 is installed, analyze the drive.

    Hello Bill,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

As I understood it, you experience the problem, you cannot change the automatic updates even if you are logged on as an administrator user account. The option is grayed out on the system.

    Certainly, I understand your concern.

I would suggest trying the following steps and check if that helps.

    1. Open the editor of the register of the command RUN by typing "regedit" and click OK.
    2. In the tree on the left, open following files-online HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate.
    3. Remove the automatic "Update" folder This will remove all previous settings for automatic update.
    4. Open the automatic update of the control panel and option as usual.
    5. If automatic update is always gray, type the command "gpupdate/force" RUN and click OK or restart the operating system.

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
