Cannot expand the catalog in OBIEE
Hi all
We have a customer Server Obiee crash so I'm trying to restore everything at the moment.
I sent the catalog, the repo, etc. application roles but I'm not able to develop or to do something for the online catalogue? (expand the shared folders folder)
When checking the permissions of Catalog Manager offline everything seems fine.
Please see attached snip of what I see.
Too bad... It seems that this only happens in Chrome, it opened with Firefox and it worked fine? how weird.

I just upgraded to window 7 for windows 10. 6 Lightroom does not start because it cannot open the catalog or one of my backups
Yes, once the user account is the upgrade to windows 10 have permission on the folder of photo issue, which prevents the Lightroom to create the necessary temp file when the catalog is launched.
This is the reason why I asked to copy the catalog file to another location to narrow down the reason for the problem.
Thank you

I just reinstalled and all my Lightroom stuff is in a single folder. So I simply pointed out Lightroom in the folder once it has been reinstalled, but I get this message saying 'Lightroom cannot use the catalog because it is not writable or in-use'.
Any ideas what is wrong?Trying to find a file whose name ends with .lock in the same folder as your catalog file. If there is such a file, remove it. Do not remove anything else.

I am unable to use Organizer in elements or Prime Minister. An error in says: "cannot open the catalog. An internal program error has occurred. »
I tried to reinstall and update but the problem persists. I use the Version 12 on Windows 8.1.
I found similar issues in the community, but they all seem to be unanswered. Help to solve this problem would be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hello again
By trail and error, I found a solution to 99%.
Right-click on the desktop, the icon of elements.
Select Troubleshoot Compatibility.
Select troubleshoot program
Select a problem (I used the other)
Select the Version of Windows (Windows 8 for me)
Select the Test program
If it works, which he did in my case, save the settings.
This seems to have solved my problem, except that I now get an extra screen at the opening of the elements to allow the program to make changes to my computer. I can live with that.
When I get time I will check if there is any Adobe or updates to Windows that will make this unnecessary step.
I hope this helps other people with the same problem.
Thanks for responding and making suggestions.

I need to export a catalog for a college assignment and burn it to CD. The export had a slight hiccup with conflicts in the metadata to dng files 2, but I just ran over the data. The main problem is when I burned the files on a CD and tried to open the catalog on CD, I get the following error:
"lightroom cannot open the catalog named"..." "" located on the DVD RW drive (e) volume because Lightroom can't save the changes to this place.
What I am doing wrong? I use LR3.4 and under Win Vista on my laptop at home. Is this a problem with my pc? Can I use the Mac to College instead? I need to know as soon as the transfer is due May 11, 2012 (on Friday). Thanks for any input.
A catalog cannot exist on a CD and be used as a catalog must be writable and are not CD. You can copy the catalog from the CD to the computer, that you have the CD to use however.
The best option is to use a flash drive (USB key) for that well that rather than a CD.

Lightroom cannot use the catalog because it is not writable and cannot be opened
My catalog is on an external hard drive and I lost the connection, resulting in an error message "Lightroom can't use the catalog because it is not writable and cannot be opened" to come.
There was no lock file to delete, and I deleted the log file. All write permissions have been verified on the hard disk, catalog and subfolders and I leave and I always get this error message.
How can I get rid of this message and gain access to my catalog again?
I'm on windows and not Mac. Thank you for your time, but I have already contacted Adobe via a chat service and the catalog has been corrupted. They fixed. Thanks again for your time.

cannot expand the c partition in unallocated space
I have a HP Pavilion dv5224nr laptop running Windows XP. I've been low on disk space, so I came on this forum to find out how to remove the recovery partition, since I have the recovery CD from HP. Now that I deleted the partition through disk management, it only allows me to expand the C partition in unallocated space left by removing the partition D. "Extend partition" is not an option in the menu when I right click. I also tried going through the "diskpart" command prompt, select the volume and him asking to "extend". I received a message that it was unable to extend the volume. How can I recover the 12 GB of space on my C drive? Thank you.
I downloaded a free utility called Easeus Partition Master and it worked very well for resizing my partition C. I also used explores the function to watch the 1 gig unknown partition and it wasn't empty, so I left it alone. Thanks for your help!

Cannot open the catalog as it is "invalid".
Tried to open my catalog which I used without problem, and today I get the below error message. There is no file locking. I tried to update my software, I also tried to create an another catalog and import the catalog, nothing helps. It appears that in the catalog, there are zero file size. Help, please!
If the file size is zero, it is not a valid catalog, and there is nothing to open.
You must restore the backup catalog file.

Import from another catalog - cannot select the catalog items
I'm trying to merge a temporary catalog, I started on my laptop in my 'main' catalog - both are v5.7.1. I exported the photos from my laptop in a directory on my NAS, including raw files. I see the catalog so all the 5,000 or if raw files it.
Next step - import catalog in my catalog 'main' - where the problem occurs. I can't select all items in the catalogue - they have dimmed, and I can't click on it to select it. See screen capture below:
I have reason to believe that it is a matter of import rather than an export problem, because if I copy the exported catalog to a location not connected to the network and that you open in LR, I see pictures of 5000-ish. I can't merge via import.
I could really use a helping hand in this regard, because I spent a good bit of time, to the note of these files over the weekend, and I wouldn't just as quickly again.
I wonder if this is due to the fact that the exported catalog (any one) resides on a network drive. I tested this feature, last winter (Re: import / export of files between computers on a wireless network) and it works perfectly. But LR will not allow the primary catalog be stored on a network drive, then maybe it is linked in a way that I find with my tests.
I suggest to export a catalog little test with just a few pictures and place the catalog and photos on a locally connected drive. If it works, this indicates a workaround solution that bothers.

"Cannot use the catalog because it is not writable and cannot be opened.
Lightroom 6.5 8.1 Windows
I get this error message. However, the catalog is here. I also opened LR in administrator mode, but that doesn't help either.
The old catalog in a new catalog import does not work either. I've worked since the last backup.
You kindly give a retrieve from the catalog import tool?
The permissions are set correctly, and as I said, I also started LR with administrator privileges. Same result.
I ended up using sqlite, saved lrcat file in sql file and initialized in lrcat file. Everything works. I don't understand why Adobe does not offer a repair service to do the same. It cost me 30 minutes of searching on Google.

Used the external drive for catalog/photos for months. Yesterday-> error msg: "Lightroom can't open the catalog named"StanLRCatalogRepaired"located on the 'Seagate Drive - LR Photos' volume because Lightroom can't save the changes to this place. Lightroom catalogs not opening on the network volumes, removable storage, or read only volumes. »
The first thing to do is to check if somehow the permissions for the drive Seagate or any of its relevant folders/subfolders has changed somehow (an OS update maybe?)

Cannot expand the size of the disk
I'm coverting a VMware machine that created via VMWare Player 3.0. It's a Windows 7 VM 15 GB. I made this ttimes number but for some reason any on this virtual machine I don't have the option to extend the size of the disk. Usually, there is a fall downwards according to the size of the disk where I enter the number to Go to the new size of disk, but there is no list drop-down option. Currently there are 1.5 free space on this virtual machine. Ideas?
the exapnd utility will expand the HARD disk you selected, not add another drive. In Windows, you have unallocated space at the end of the partition, you can then use disk management to extend the volume.
