• I bought 5 Fusion pro and cannot get the VMware Tools to install

  Bought a new iMac and bought Fusion 5 Pro.  I have a 5 year old and reclassified iMac Fusion 4-5 fusion and had no problems.  The new computer is for my wife and I tried and tried to migrate the laptop and it failed every time.  So, I did a clean install of Windows 7 and before I downloaded everything that I installed VMWare Tools.  For the past 2 days, I was passage of the files from the laptop and install programs that she had on the laptop.  Problems with Word and excel as they sit a spin.  Money went to re - install VMware Tools and it launches the installation program and then comes up with an error message...   Went into Windows to uninstall VMware tools and he started the uninstall program then stopped and got the same message.  I can not uninstall tools and cannot re - install the tools.  I need help to solve this problem.  I'm a guy of plug-and-play and if there is code to do, in my opinion, I'm sunk.

  Extra solution after Woodys - please check if mirror folder is enabled or not, if it is enabled, please disable it then try to reinstall the tools.

  I am trying to install the Telnet Client on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit.  After waiting for quite a long time so he could install, I get this message:

  We will check your services and see if the telnet service is disabled.  If it is disabled, then lets set it to automatic.
  Even after installation, this service tends to default to disabled.  We will check this and see if this helps you. Zack

  I insert the boot disk, the drive starts and then goes to the menu. I click the configuration option, the menu disappears and nothing happens. I've tried the drive on 2 different computers with the same results. The two laptops are Sony Viao, windows vista and are currently running wireless now. What I am doing wrong? What can I do? I called customer support without a lot of help. (reference # 090807-015012)

  Finally got the disc to work. I had to use a computer with windows XP! Everything seems to work OK now.

  This site doesn't seem to work with Mozzila today, had to use the Opera browser. Thanks for the reply. Usually, I will work with these things (routers & all the rest) until I get to work or break it. - Jim

  Like many other Windows 8.1 users, I don't like the operating system.  I tried to go back to windows 7 64 bit.  So far, I have everything works except the internal wireless card.  I downloaded and installed several of the drivers wireless youall suggested in similar issues of forum, but all without success.  Can you help me?  Also is there a way to locate all models and manufacturers of the equipment in my laptop?  This is so that I could keep the laptop updated with the latest drivers.

Has made the Upgrade Advisor, enlists Dell first, me Deauthorize Itunes - done, uninstall my printer - in fact, Dell Tools uninstall - made, said, all good, run Windows 7 - has done and, now, I'm on a restart loop. I called Dell, complete scam: they want $269.00 to "software". Read all articles about MS and Dell work together to bring '7' to the end user and the end user obtained just watered.  How to exit this loop of reboot? Widows 7 ran completely and looked at things would happen, then I received the following message: "Windows cannot complete the installation.   We would like to get some more information from you to help solve your problem. You better, please answer the following questions.

  ·         What is the disk you use to reinstall?

  ·         Is this a recovery or reinstalling the disc you are using?

  ·         When exactly do you get this error message?

  ·         What is the edition of Windows Vista, you try to install?

  ·         How old is the drive that you are using?

  ·         How are you starting the installation process?

  After researching the error 0x8007000D code is essentially due to file corruption and a problem with the drive itself.

  First check if you have scratches or dust on the disc and clean the surface and try again.

  To check if the disk is wrong, you will need to copy the contents of the DVD to the hard drive and try to install using that.

  To perform a flat installation of Windows Vista, follow these steps.

  Note The hard disk must have at least 3 GB of free space on the disk for the Windows Vista installation files. The hard disk must have at least 15 GB of additional disk space to install Windows Vista. For more information about system requirements for Windows Vista, see the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

  1. Insert the Windows Vista installation disc.

  HP Desktop, Windows 8.0.  Do a restore of Windows 8 on the hard drive.  Everything is progressing very well until I get this dialog box message: "Windows cannot complete the installation in Mode without failure.  To continue installing Windows, restart the computer. "When I restart the computer the same message appears in a new dialog box.  Before the restoration of Windows, I tried to reset mode without fail to start to get the operating system will once again but failed to get the operating system to boot at all.  Finally resorted to restore to get the computer working again.

  How to exit this loop?

  OK, here's what I discovered.

  When you get the error message mentioned above, you can hold down the SHIFT key and press the F10 key.  This will put you in the command prompt.

  At the command prompt, type: bcdedit [then press enter]

  so to solve my problem I hade type: bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot [then press enter]

  This put the loop I lived and finished restoring Windows 8

• Newly installed hard drive, cannot get the reinstallation of Windows 7 to the end

  Hi all. My factory-issued Seagate 1 TB hard drive of origin provided with my PC Pavilion Elite HPE-240f failed a few months ago and I finally had time to fixation (rock a Pavilion dm4 laptop in the meantime, I'm not in a huge rush). I replaced it tonight with a Western Digital Blue 1 TB hard drive, which I know is Advanced Format.

  I love HP platform minor changes in the the Windows 7 OS, I went ahead and tried to reinstall the OS of my recovery disks that I made when I got this PC. I checked the BIOS settings and the new hard drive WD IS recognized, the size is correct, etc. It has been configured in RAID with the SATA controller, and I tried to put out when the installation of the operating system initially lacked AHCI. It seems to be stuck in some kind of loop in the final configuration step, and I get out of the dialog box "Installation of Windows set up Windows to run on a hardware on this computer" could not. Hit Okay sends in reboot and after that I get a "Windows is unable to complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation"notice.

  It makes me batty, and I really want my back office. This is a great machine, and as much as I love my laptop, it can't handle heavy programs like Photoshop or my multitasking fool. I managed to get the OS installed by forcing the system to bypass its system predefined through registry commands, but the important things were wrong, as Windows Update does not work, so I'll try to reset all with only recovery disks. So far, no go. I am extremely tired, frustrated, and it's late, so apologies for what I've left out or of typos. Any help on how to solve this problem is GREATLY appreciated.

I actually found what I thought, it's perhaps the question a day or two before your answer: my computer was manufactured and purchased just before October 2010, which has been cut for restoration placed disks shaped for the drives non - Advanced Format. All the following which has been reformatted accordingly. I contacted HP and bought the replacement of the recovery discs (made in 2012), that I received yesterday. After several hours of nerves and finger-crossing, it worked like a charm. The operating system has successfully recovered, and I couldn't be happier!

  If you have compatible hardware and your computer still stops responding, disable any unnecessary material. Remove (USB) universal serial bus devices. Remove or disable network cards, sound cards and cards of the series; and then restart the installation.

  Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
  Click Install now
  Accept the license agreement
  When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

  Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

  You will receive the following warning:

  The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

  (At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

  The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

  Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

  You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  Your serial for Photoshop CS2 key would not work as the activation for CS2 servers were closed.

  My netbook has been sitting not used and the road for about 6 months.

  It is not easy to say what the problem is here. If the recovery image and HARD drive are OK, you should be able to install recovery image and use your neetbook with the factory settings.
  When you've got this netbook as a new machine, I assume you didn't create recovery USB support. Can you confirm this?

  I can't say with certainty what the problem, but now you should test original recovery image installation and see what happens. In case the same thing happen over and over again, the problem may be related to the HARD drive.
