Cannot install weekly timer in Windows 7, error: the program is incopmpatible.

Former program - Day Timer - dtab.exe

BDTA program runs under xp service pac (3) d on the old computer.  New computer has windows 7.  Transfer program from the old computer to new computer via flash drive (do not have the original installation CD probably diskette).

Windows 7 flags program as incompatible, but all the various solutions do not work.  Cannot find an original manufacturer - probably out of business.

Any ideas on the realization of compatibility or compatible location new program that replaces the BDTA will be appreciated.

Hello waynebennet,

You can not simply to transfer program files that they need to write to the registry. You will need the executable of the program file to install the program under Windows 7. It is perhaps not compatible but as Azam said, you might be able to run in Compatibility Mode.

If you have an older application for Windows XP or Vista, which does not work in Windows 7, you can make it work properly by running the program in compatibility mode.
1. to start, find the application or the shortcut which is the cause of the problem, and then right-click on it and select Properties.
2. then, select compatibility in the menu tabs at the top of the properties page:
3. now check the box run this program in compatibility mode "dethrone" and select the operating system you want to emulate. For most applications, this will be Windows XP SP2. Once you are finished, click OK.
4. When you then run the application, it must run under compatibility using the OS mode you have selected. If it runs properly, try another selection of OS in step 3, and then try again.

Run the installer in compatibility mode:

1 right click on the file icon installation.
2. click on properties > compatibility.
3. Select the compatibility mode for Windows XP.
4. click on OK.
5. run the installation program.

After installation, run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode by doing the same thing with the installed program.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Marilyn

This error usually indicates a problem with the .NET Framework (one of them at least).  Because the 2.0 and 3.0 are part of the Vista operating system they cannot be uninstalled and reinstalled without any Vista at the same time.  But sometimes CFS can fix problems of frame (as can a chkdsk if a framework file is located in a corrupted sector or block).

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files usinghttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  Try to put all the corrupt files here so that we can see if they can be repaired with good copies of the installation disc (unless there are too many).

Then try again and see if you get the same error.  This time right click on the system icon and then click on run as administrator (sometimes it helps and it can't hurt).

If it persists, try the following:

    1. Open an administrator command prompt: start > all programs > Accessories > right click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".
    2. In the command prompt, type the following command:

  • cannot install update security for Windows XP (KB2686509)

cannot install update security for Windows XP (KB2686509)

    Hello, gsfl Jg,

Open Windows Update and check if KB2686509 and KB2676562 are or are not installed.

When you tried to install the update, you would have received an error code.  Please return this zip code which lies in Windows Update.

Why this update is offered again several times?

Windows updates are revived until the update is installed on your computer. If this update is already, perhaps an installation failure has occurred. Check log files to install KB for the error codes. For example, the log file of installation KB for this security update would probably "C:\Windows\ KB2686509.log"
For more information about how to resolve these problems, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

958051 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958051/) you receive a "0x8007F0F4" error code when you try to install the updates on the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site

What should I do if the installation of this update fails with the error "0x8007F0F4"?

If you receive the "0x8007F0F4" error when you try to install this security update, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Faultykeyboard.log file that is located in the folder %windir%. This log file contains information about the registered keyboard layout files that are not in the folder % Windir%\System32. The log file will resemble the following:

      Keyboard1.dll.\Layoutfiles\keyboard2.dll C:\Windows\System\Kbda1.dll

Note In this example, the first entry is just a file name. The second entry includes a relative path with the name of the file. The third category includes a full path of the file.

    2. Copy the files that are listed in the Faultykeyboard.log log file in the System32 folder.

Note Contact Microsoft technical support if you can't find the Faultykeyboard.log file.

  • Cannot install Quake 4 on Windows 7?

I get an error library not registered message when trying to install Quake 4 on Windows 7?  The error message is autorun.exe.  How can I solve this problem?

    Hello Keith,

I install Quake 4 on my Windows 7 system, but the steps that I took for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SOC to run under Windows 7 can help.

    1. make sure that all of the artifacts of the installation fails are deleted. (files and registry entries).
    2. go to the website of ID and make sure you have the latest available patches.
    3. ensure that your viseo and DirectX drivers are the latest version - VERY important.
    4. install Quake 4 in administrator mode, see below.
    5. apply the fixes in administrator mode.
    6. When you run Quake 4 use the compatibility checker - a selection from the context menu. I checked the video problems and that the program needed more privileges. I was using XP SP3.
    7. after running the game, we hope successfully, and then click 'next' in the compatibility checker, and save the changes to the program, so it does not work the next time... ;-)

    Good luck

  • Cannot install netgear wg311v3 driver Windows 7

someone at - it get a netgear wg311 v3 card works with windows 7. Just, I get error code 10. I tried to install another driver manually but still does not work.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi michaes,.

Thanks for visiting the site of the community of Microsoft Windows!

You will have to perhaps run netgear wg311v3 driver in a compatibility mode and check if it is compatible with Windows 7 as of now so that the updated drivers are published by the manufacturer of the driver.

Methods to run the program in compatibility mode:

    Method 1:

    (1) visit the Windows Vista Compatibility Center
    (2) visit the Windows Vista Compatibility Center to perform the following tasks.
    (3) determine what software and devices are and are not compatible with Windows 7.
    (4) look for links to drivers and upgrades that will make your compatible computer.
    5) provide input to help us improve the experience of the upgrade.

For starters, visit the Microsoft Web site at the following address:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility)

    Method 2:

Run the program in compatibility mode
When you select the compatibility mode option, Windows 7 emule the operating system that is selected when you run that particular program.

To run the program in compatibility mode, follow these steps:

    1) click Start, and then type the name of the program in the box to start the search.
    (2) in the list programs, right-click on the program name and then click Properties.
    (3) on the Compatibility tab, click on run this program in compatibility mode for check box.
    (4) in the list, select an operating system, and then click OK.
    (5) if the program does still not work, continue to the next method.

    Method 3:
    Run the program as administrator

To run the program as an administrator, follow these steps:

    1) click Start, and then type the name of the program in the box to start the search.
    (2) in the list programs, right-click the program that you want to resolve, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    (3) if the program now works correctly, the program requires administrative permissions to operate. For more information about how to force a program to automatically run with administrative permissions, see the "step 2: run the program as Administrator" section of the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931362/ ) Advanced methods to fix a program that does not run as expected once it is installed on Windows 7
If the program does still not work, proceed to the next method.

    Method 4:

Contact the program vendor or the hardware manufacturer
If a program does not run under Windows 7, or a piece of hardware does not work as expected after installing Windows 7, contact the program vendor or the hardware manufacturer for advice on how to solve the problem. In general, the software vendor's Web site provides a support section that you can use, for example, to search for an error message that you receive from the program.

Frequently, the software vendor will be able to resolve the incompatibility issue by providing one of the following resolutions:

An update to the current version of the program compatible with Windows 7
A version of the program compatible with Windows 7
Information about the configuration changes to make the program compatible with Windows 7
To ensure the compatibility of the drivers, visit this link with windows 7: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx

If these measures fail, you will have to wait to update the drivers from the manufacturer, and then you can visit the manufacturer's website and download the drivers.

    Hope this information helped!

Cannot install network printer on Windows 7.  Detects the printer then it says cannot locate the driver.  All my vista and XP machines have no problem finding drivers. It is a 32-bit 64-bit vs questions?  How can I fix it?
Windows Server 2008 network.  Printers have ip addresses. Install the drivers from the Print Manager.  /Terminal Server Workgroup installation.

It's the same situation with XP.  The print driver names must match.  If you notice the name of the printer driver that uses XP is a name different from the one that is installed when you plug in the device on the Windows 7 computer.  This is just my assumption, please correct me if this isn't the case.

The real solution is to install a 32-bit driver on the XP machine that uses the same name that the 64-bit driver and share a printer using this driver or find a 64-bit driver that uses the same name as the 32-bit driver installed on XP and install the driver on XP.
