Cannot move or delete e-mail messages is defective.

I can't move or delete e-mail messages is defective.  When I try to move them, I get the following error "the file '68631.emlx' could not be opened because there is no file".  This problem has been crossed to Apple 4 times, but no resolution engineering.  Inbox, feel, project all have defective messages in them.  The problem seemed to have started when I upgraded to El Capitan.  Any thoughts on how to get rid of faulty mail?

What have you done to try to solve the problem? What type of e-mail accounts you have - IMAP, POP, Exchange?

  • delete e-mail messages from context menu

I am running Windows 7 Home Premeum 64-bit with service pack 1.

I'm trying to delete e-mail messages from the context menu when right clicking on an image.

I have AT & T Yahoo! as my e-mail provider that is NOT an option available to Windows, so I can't use the option of e-mail anyway.

Given the unusable option is distracting and often gets clicked by mistake while trying to save an image to disk.

Please let me know how to solve this problem.

    Thank you... Alan

  • Cannot delete E-mail messages in a single account.

I use Thunderbird for two accounts, personal and professional. I can delete to find personal Emails. I can delete folders and move folders and fine e-mails from the company to the personal. But I can't delete individual emails from my business account, with the delete, right click key, nothing. However, if I move from my business to my staff, they remove it.

I have taken steps to troubleshooting (or not):
    -Restart the computer.
    -Desinstalle/reinstalle Thunderbird.
-Restored to the previous version of Thunderbird.
-Started without my extensions (just calendar).
    -Restored old backup.
-Thing of deleting file (where you go to %AppData%, navigate to the Thunderbird folder and delete the file from the Recycle Bin).

Interestingly, my computer let me to remove Trash and Trash.msf EXCEPT files in the folder for my business account. The .msf file he went without complaint, but the file kept Trash requesting permission from the admin and would not delete. (I'm the only account on my computer.)

I have had this problem before and tinkered with it long enough to find a solution, but I don't remember what I did. Any help is appreciated. I'm moving the Email files to my staff until I can find a solution.

I think... that I fixed it?

I deleted the company file entirely. Then deleted the Windows folder entirely as well as local. Then open Thunderbird and rebuilt from scratch account (after saving my emails to the personal account, of course). And I made sure to check "empty trash folder on exit" (which I had not seen before). Now, it behaves as usual.

Weird. Again, I don't know what I did. But it worked.

  • Cannot move or delete messages in the folder "Inbox archive".

I'm on Thunderbird v24.4.0. There is a folder in one of my two accounts called "Archive of Inbox". Most of the time that I try to run, delete, or move an email from this folder, there is a pause, "not responding" appears in the tab upward and then after about a minute, the action is (rarely) occurs or TB ends by closes (most of the time). If the message has an attachment in it or not does not a difference. It essentially rendered the unmanageable folder. The only other application generally running IE 11.

I think I have this folder 'Inbox archive' because of the way I moved messages and files from my old PC is no longer functional, to the new, a Windows 7 Home Premium machine. On the new PC, I installed TB and new messages began filling the Inbox. Later, I copied the old emails and files from the old hard drive to the new PC - probably not the best or good in the way to do that with hindsight, but I only made this another times before.

So far, I tried to rebuild the world database (all folders, including the problematic rebuilt and re-indexed correctly), and fix the file and none resolved the problem. I thought to move messages 'archive of Inbox' in the Inbox active, but I'm reluctant to do it because I can't be sure that it does not have the regular Inbox respond similarly. This particular case is the only one with this problem. I would like to delete the folder if I could, but there are things in there that I need to register. It has about 4200 messages in it, using about 470 MB of space, which since the help files, does not seem to be the problem.

I was unable to find alternatives in Help topics, ideas or help would be appreciated.

  • Cannot move or delete some applications/applications

I'm in the middle of doing a "spring cleaning" of my Mac and part of this means remove rarely or never used apps from my Applications folder.  Many of them I would like to transfer to a separate folder in my downloads folder, which would later be copied to a disk in case use never need arises, others, I just want to remove.

A number of them pop up with the following (using PathFinder) message: this point is not movable.  You do not have sufficient permissions to move the point of xxx.  Jump - authenticate - Stop.  An authorization in PathFinder is no nothing - the app remains in place.

If I try using the Finder, the action creates an alias to the new location.  If I try to trash in the Finder, I must grant permission.  It is moved to the trash can I move it to the trash on my external drive of the target and again I have to grant permission.

Now, I have dozens of these apps and I would like to streamline this process to allow me to simply move the application to a temporary folder on my boot drive, then move this entire folder on the external drive later.

I am comfortable using Terminal Server, if that's what it takes.  Or is there some CLI who will grant me permission to complete these deletions / moves without the added folderol that OS X saddle us with?  There must be a way to substitute wisely approach Apple mother hen for the Organization of the Application.  I can't even move an application out of the Applications folder?  Give me a break!

Thanks for thinking of it.  Any help or links to advice would be really appreciated.

    I use a 2012 end Mac Mini, OS X 10.5.

The Applications in El Capitan folder is locked by SIP. You can remove only the things that you put there via drag / move. If you used an installer, or they are Apple "OS" apps, they cannot be deleted.

You can always remove them if you feel really obsessed by temporarily disabling the SIP, or starting from another Mac or external hard drive.
